The location is good, in a quiet side street yet very close to Avenida Albir with its restaurants, and just about walking distance from the seafront.
Check-in was quick (we arrived after the main group). However, when I saw the room, which was very basic, and the bathroom which was truly awful, I wanted to go elsewhere straight away. We stayed only because of the group.
The room was extremely basic with virtually no amenities. The beds were not bad, though. The bathroom was a relic from the previous century. Getting in and out of bathtub (the shower was inside the tub) was quite hazardous, because of the design, and my partner slipped and fell on one occasion. The water temperature was extremely difficult to regulate, it was either boiling hot or very cold. The fittings on the tub were very shabby. And the provided 'toiletries' consisted of tiny sachets of the cheapest shower gel.
The breakfast room was in the basement, and the buffet was at the low end of average. Not much choice for vegetarians, so we usually just had some muesli, a banana, and a slice of toast (or a croissant if they weren't stale). The coffee from the machine was pretty awful and watery, so I switched to tea. The staff were quite pleasant.
The bar on the ground floor is pretty non-descript, service ok, nothing special, but there are some outdoor tables.
I had been looking forward to the pool area which looked nice in the hotel photos but turned out to be a building site. I hope that has changed by now.
After all this criticism I have to say, that prices were less than we had paid for the other hotel or the apartment. My expectations were probably too high, so taking into consideration that this is a budget place I have rated this hotel 'average' rather than 'poor'.
The receptionist was rude on the first day when I asked to change rooms due to it smelling of stale smoke. She then seemed to punish me with the skankiest room in Spain.
The restaurant lacks any holiday feel what so ever...and stay away from the Dogfish!
Never added a review on TA before but needed to vent my frustration. I can honestly say this is a hotel from hell for me. Very disappointing.
The buffet breakfast was good and included in the very reasonable room rate!
Will be visiting again for 4 nights in October this year and can highly recommend this hotel for value for money and location just a couple of minutes from the beach and restaurants in Albir.
Pros-balcony room ... Cleans rooms with good beds... Food, you will always get something decent to eat , OK choice isn't great but it is a 3 star ... Reception staff are fabulous..Jamie went out of his way to help and the lovely girl on day shift is worked of her feet but has a smile no matter what . Good location with a short stroll to the local restaurant, bars and beach. Rooms have good enough facilities and breeding etc is clean.
Cons - the staff in the restaurant are petulant to say the least , yes they work non stop but being ignored as British visitors is totally unacceptable, on at least 5 nights out of 6 we had to wait as they dealt with local guests first who had entered the restaurant after us and actually had water etc in their tables before they sat down , bad enough that we requested drinks twice but to be finished a meal before we had our drink order even taken is extremely bad customer service. The final insult was being ignored at the bar area by the staff when I was clearly waiting , alone, and the staff dealt with a lady who had just walked up , the staff then took my order only after berating me in Spanish .... Yes I speak a little Spanish and make the effort to do so but as this hotel has guests from many nations I felt I was being treated unfairly.
Sadly the whole experience has been let down by bad customer service from one department.
Sun beds are very limited and mostly in need of repair.
If the rest of the staff were as good at their job as the reception staff then I would return but definitely there are areas of concern that need addressed and quickly or customers like myself will never be back.
Free wifi in all parts of hotel including in your room, free use of the gym. Not a single fault with hotel or facilities.
Rooms very clean, well furnished nice comfy bed, very large clean bathroom.
