Well worth staying here. It is great in so many ways: nestled overlooking a beautiful valley, amazing views, very impressive tented lodges, both rooms and main building. Really warm welcome and great service and delicious food from their own gardens. But more importantly, staying here helps support the children's home near by (you can visit it and meet the kids...

We stayed here last week for 2 nights and received 5 star treatment, including a tour of the amazing Orphanage which is a credit to the management team - and an outstanding example of tourism truly playing a positive and life changing role with a local community and its children in need. Stay here you will love it.

I can't say enough about this place. We are riding from Cape Town to Cairo on motorcycles and we decided to push the distance to get up to the Ngorongoro park in one day rather than two from Iringa in the south of Tanzania. We googled lodges near Ngorongoro and pot luck we decided on Rhotia due to its proximity...

We enjoyed our one night here. This place has a deep passion and a sustainable mindset in its way of driving the lodge with its own garden with vegetables for the food, certain procent of the profit goes directly to driving the children home connected to the lodge, very good food, rooms are decent and view is fantastic. Staff are...

We loved staying at this lovely tent lodge. The owner could not have been more welcoming. She took us over to the Children's Home which had 36 happy children. Amazing this wonderful Dutch couple have created such a beautiful home. The food could not have been better. The staff was so helpful. And we were so happy that some of...

This beautiful lodge supports 36 childrens from local area-great cause to support the project by visiting this place. The lodge itself is well maintained and well run place. The tented lodges were comfortable and functional. Our tent was arranged to accomodate a family and had one double bed and two single beds, and felt a bit cramped. The restaurant/bar is...

We accidentally went to the tented lodge (we were looking for the coffee corner), but we were welcomed with smiles! A beautiful place for beers. Staff were lovely and very accommodating to the two random people that showed up at their doors. Would recommend, but with appointment ;)

I am struggling to write this one as I have mixed feelings about this lodge. Let me start with the positives: the orphanage/community/bakery etc projects are fantastic and really well run. We were happy to be able to support them and to visit. Great job! I booked directly and Valerio was very efficient and prompt with his emails ,providing lots...

We spent 2 nights of our anniversary trip at the lodge and totally loved it. The owners and staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the scenery was breathtaking, food was excellent, tents were clean and comfortable. It was an excellent place to relax and a perfect base for an amazing and unforgettable day trip to the Ngorongoro Crater.

Helpful staff who arrange all trips in great detail. On return each evening, we were first greeted by the friendly dogs and then by the staff offering warm towels and cool drinks. Stayed in one of the newest tents which was very comfortable. Breathtaking views from the terrace, good food and beautiful dining area. The dawn chorus was also unique....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Quietly tucked away on the top of a hill in rural Africa and, at the same time, located in the very heart of the Northern Tanzania safari circuit Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge breathes the atmosphere of true Africa. The lodge is built with indigenous hardwood and in traditional African style. It is in complete harmony with its surroundings. Yet, its spacious set up, personal and friendly service and its finishing touches, such as cozy sofas around the fireplace and warm decorative details, provide a perfectly balanced luxury. With only fifteen individual tents, Rhotia Valley has an intimate charm. Each of the comfortable tented houses has its own veranda with splendid view. The bathrooms are provided with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in our open dining area. Most of the vegetables and all the herbs are grown in our own garden. Daily we bake fresh bread in our Bakery. Moreover, we produce butter from the milk produced by our own cows. Facilities: - Swimming pool with panoramic view. - Wifi is available in the common dining area. - Conference Room fully equipped with beamer and flipchart. Rhotia Valley is more than a lodge. It is completed embedded in the community of Rhotia. Rhotia Valley consists of the Tented Lodge and, on the opposite hill, a CHILDREN'S HOME. Its aim is to give support to the people of the Rhotia area, all the staff and the children in the Home are from the local area. TWO HILLS, ONE GOAL! ... more   less
