Rather than spend the whole day traveling to a mountain lodge east of Arusha we decided to find a place to stay about half way. Our guide recommended this lodge and he was absolutely spot on. What a nice surprise. The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food was delicious and the staff was...

From the moment we were welcomed with a cool drink and a hand wash to the time we left every interaction with staff was pleasant. The rooms were large, clean and delightful. The food was excellent; a standard menu served at you table with seconds.

We stayed here one night between Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater and were pleasantly surprised. The rooms/chalets were large with a large bathroom, small sitting area and a dressing area. The shower was also large with water pressure and hot water. The room and bathroom were clean. Although we never used the pool area it looked very inviting....

We stayed there on New Year's Eve. The garden is great, and the swimming pool a very nice area to relax after a safari day. The room and bathroom are HUGE. It's always nice to sleep in a king size bad :-) The buffet for dinner was good, and it was interesting to watch the dancers from the village after...

As an independent traveller in Karatu the range of accommodation is from a local "inn" or "guest house" starting at US$ 6 (you get what you pay for) B&B, through a range of slightly better local establishments and a variety of "resorts" to the Bougainvillea Safari Lodge at US$ 70 for half board. A warm welcome awaits you, minimal formalities...

After coming from camping in the Serengeti, I thought I'd arrived at an oasis when we drove in to Bougainvillea Lodge. What a delight! Lovely gardens, with white cottages with verandahs set around a pool and gardens. Sitting area and fireplace in the cottages. We stayed here for two nights for the Ngorongo crater. I could have stayed a week....

We stayed at Bougainvillea for two nights while we were on safari at Ngorongoro crater. The room was huge and very comfortable with a front porch to sit out and relax. There was a big, clean swimming pool so after our safari we jumped in for a few laps and lounged around on the sun bed with drinks until the...

We spent two nights here whilst on safari at Ngorongoro crater and Lake Manyara. The accommodation is large and comfortable. The staff are happy and polite and the food is good. Only little quibble was the service in the dinning room was a little disorganised but this is Africa and it has its own charm as a result. You certainly...

We stayed here for 2 nights at either side of our stay in Serengeti. Long days meant we really only ate and slept here but it was a lovely place for both. Food was a plenty, 5 courses with waiter(ess) offering 2nds,3rds!! Staff jovial, polite and happy to help! We were especially fond of Joseph who was a great guy!...

Beautiful setting and large bungalows with king sized beds and large bathroom. The gardens are well stocked and well tended and there is a swimming pool. An oasis of calm which is welcome during safari and well placed for Tarangire national park.
