This family run resort is about 25 minutes south of Sydney and a good base for touring around the east side of Cape Breton. The grounds and cottages are beautifully maintained. It's a relaxed environment and we appreciated that it was whistle clean and very quiet in the area. As the cottages were fully booked, we stayed in one of...

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The cottages are tucked away and it's a quiet, peaceful spot. Seeing as we were there for a romantic getaway we did find it a bit strange that the "King Size" bed was actually 2 singles pushed together but after a few laughs we moved passed that and onto the kid's 'fishy" shower curtain....

Very nice people, the cottage was spotless and the beds were extremely comfortable. My inlaws paid for everything, so I can't speak of the price. There were a couple downsides though - there is no view of the river, and the view from our front windows was the restaurant and parking lot....a bit disappointing if you're looking for privacy. I...

We were in a two unit cottage. We barely heard the people on the other side. Room was neat as a pin though getting a little dated. (We heard they are looking to sell the property.) No fridge or micro, though they did have a coffee pot. On site restaurant was quite good. They arranged to serve us breakfast, though...

Having eaten at the Riverbank restaurant I had the chance to stay for a weekend. The one bedroom cottage we rented was absolutely spotless and the owners can't do enough for you. This is a gem just outside Sydney and deserves more than 5 stars! Well done Eva and Tom!

The cottages were adorable and clean. The little trails were fun for the kids. The food at the restaurant was amazing, I had seafood chowder, the kids had homemade chicken strips and my husband had the German meal, all delicious!! The owner was so nice and helpful.

It was getting cold (late September) when we finished visiting Louisburg on Cape Breton Island. The campgrounds were all closed. It was dark when we finally rolled into the gravel driveway of the Mira River Cottages, but the lady of the place was waiting for us. The cabins are cute, solid, well-equipped and warm. Each has a wood stove in...

We lodged in a two bedroom cabin with a fully equiped kitchen. The rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable and tehe front porch looking west ideal for sitting in the setting sun. The cottages are a 20 minute drive from Sydnety and 5 minutess from Marion Bridge. Highly recommended!

I love this place. Have stayed here before and it is very tranquil. The owners couldn't be more helpful and give you lots of space. The cabins are in excellent shape and kept in wonderful condition. It also has a restaurant open Wed-Sunday. The food is tasty and filling. Will be back.

“There are multi-unit houses, which they call "motel" rooms, and stand-alone cottages. All very nice, but the "motel" rooms are more economical, and farther back from the river.”

“Apparently the cottages are preferred becuase the walls are thin and not sound proof in the motel section.”
