Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives is celebrated for its spotless premises and well-kept rooms, with guests often acknowledging the hotel's dedication to cleanliness. While some guests debate the cost-value balance due to pricey add-ons, upgrades like the premium all-inclusive package come highly recommended. The hotel's ambiance is lively and welcoming, though the music at night receives mixed reviews. Amenities, including diverse dining and exciting excursions, garner high praise, as does the consistently lauded service. Set in a stunning beachfront location, the serene sound of ocean waves complements the tranquil setting, undisturbed by airport noise.

We arrived by speedboat from Male airport, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the Maldives as this was our first visit. Reception check in was very smooth and efficient, were had booked Premium All Inclusive and would highly recommend this as its great value.
Shiman helped us organising our excursions, spa treatments etc. the whole process is very efficient.

We stayed in beachfront bungalow (407) and loved it, it was our home for 11 days. We had our own private sunbathing area, was a couple of steps away from the ocean and a 5 minute walk down the sandy beach to the beach bar. The bungalow was very tastefully decorated with good quality modern furniture, the very large bed was super comfortable with good quality bed linen. Bathroom was amazing!

Our restaurant was expertly managed by Jackey, he oversaw everything and arranged our special meals, making sure the evenings were perfect for us. We had one special meal on the beach but had the have the other one indoors due to the weather, but it was still an amazing experience.
Our 2 dedicated waiters, Niaz & Bruno were fantastic, very kind, attentive and friendly - thank you guys.
However, my overall favourite guy was RUEBEN! He was in the restaurant every day with the biggest smile and friendly face. Rueben was responsible for replenishing all the beautiful foods that were available, making sure everything was clean and generally completing any task that assisted in the top class service provided to guests. It was a pleasure to see him every day.

The food was of excellent quality, all piping hot. The choices were amazing - you will be so spoilt for choice!

We did Sunset Fishing and the Snorkelling trip, I would highly recommend these.

I would love to return to this beautiful island (my paradise).

We stayed in June 2024 for 9 nights in a beach bungalow in the Dhonveli. We were warmly welcomed at the airport, our luggage was taken over and we were taken by boat to the island. After check-in we were taken to the beautiful and clean bungalow. There was an air-conditioned room with bed and closet and a half open bathroom with shower which was very cool. We really enjoyed that our bungalow was right on the beach and we had our own loungers. The island is manageable. Nevertheless, you can pass your time on vacation. You could play badminton, tennis, volleyball and table tennis. I also loved going to yoga and the gym, thanks to Syamijth for the beautiful hours at sunset. We loved being in the bar and watching the surfers. The cocktails were delicious and affordable. The food was terrific and very varied, as well as live cooking stations. The dessert and salads were in separate rooms which were cooled. Thanks also to Nasir, he is really a very nice and attentive waiter. In the day spa we had a massage twice, which was very nice and relaxing. Last but not least, you have to mention the Dive Center, we did a diving and snorkeling tour, which we also liked. We have seen manta rays, reef sharks, scabbard toads and many fish. We really enjoyed the holiday, the beach slowed down, at the latest after you have gone on holiday here in the Maldives, you know how crowded and noisy most beaches in Europe are. Everyone probably knows the towel and watermelon sellers ;) Luckily you can do without them here. If you like to go swimming in the pool, you will also be happy here. What I would also like to highlight positively is that you have got clean and dry towels for the beach every day, as it is hardly possible for anything to dry due to the humidity. Furthermore, there were water dispensers with cool water everywhere. Thanks also to Sattar and Ita :)

A few criticisms or suggestions for improvement, which do not diminish our holiday feeling:
- On the beach are sandbags that are supposed to avoid skimming the island sand, it would be better if they were made of jute or linen and not plastic. Some of them have already broken down and the little plastic pieces were floating in the sea.
- From the over-water bungalow it is hardly to impossible to go swimming, the hotel is also discouraged (too shallow, too many rocks and too strong current) - the higher price in contrast to the beach bungalows can not be understood because of this and it would have annoyed me if we had booked this one. You then have to find a lounger on the beach to go swimming in the sea...
- The house reef is unfortunately already quite dead, probably this is a general problem. It's probably too late to save something if you were to set up protection zones...

It was a wonderful holiday that we always think back on very fondly. All the staff were so friendly and you could tell that you like to do your job.

Jessica and Fabian

Immediately on arrival you know you are somewhere special. Staff are super attentive and provide the highest hospitality. We were extremely fortunate to have had 19nights on this beautiful island, we stayed in the overwater suites ( room 708) - which has everything you need, plenty of space and the house keeping is 2nd to none. We had the Premium AI package which we would recommend, as it came with added little perks. The island is well looked after, and full of wildlife. The restaurant for the overwater suites has plenty to offer, you’re never short of choice of food. Special shout out to the chef Khair for the best omelettes and pizzas on the island, a friendly chef who’s always smiling and ready to cook for you when you arrive in the restaurant. The salad lady Is also a breath of fresh air, always happy and makes the best Caesar salad! Our waiter Nash was also very lovely and kept our table clear and drinks full! The bar staff are all super friendly and they look after you well- I didn’t note all their names but they all deserve recognition, a little mention for Ramamahesh though for looking after us so well, he makes the best whisky sour! Special mention also to Sattar, the pool attendance, he’s always smiling, and has the pool ready and towels prepared for your visit. He keeps on top of cleaning and is always happy to see you- he makes the best flower garlands and often you return to your lounger to find he has decorated it with flowers. He does add a extra sparkle to your stay. The guy who does the laundry deserves a mention too - we used the unlimited package for $70 and used the service every couple of days. We came back with all clothes cleaned and pressed ( they been packed away all ready for our next visit 🤣)
There’s plenty of trips to go on throughout the day - thank you to the boat captains and the fishing crew ( early morning and night fishing ) we really enjoyed these trips. There’s also plenty of loungers should you wish to stay by the pool or on the beach. I recommend the crab racing on a Wednesday evening - we were crowned crab king and queen when our crabs came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd! A first in crab racing history- was such a fun night! Also please go visit the spa, the treatments are out of this world!
I never saw a member of staff unhappy- this is truely a special place and would recommend this island to everyone.

This was my first time in the Maldives and it more than surpassed my expectations. The location of Cinnamon Dhonveli is only a 25 minute speedboat ride from Male airport. The crystal blue waters and sea-life on the side of the island where our beach bungalow was located was fabulous.

The rooms are spacious and the Air Conditioning makes sure you get a good nights sleep as the evening temperature doesn't drop much below 28 degrees Celsius. We had a bathroom with a shower that was partially open to the outside which was fantastic. Rooms are cleaned at least twice a day.

Food was fantastic and there was themed nights on most days. It is of an excellent standard and there are two stations where food is cooked to order. There was not a day that we did not find something to suit all appetites.

There are excursions available from the island which we took advantage of. These of course are not included in your booking. There are water sports available from the beach and a surfers paradise on the other side of the island.

The one thing that makes this resort appealing for us was the staff. From being met at reception and taken to our room in a golf buggy with a friendly smile. This was to continue throughout our stay. All member's of staff from Management down to the cleaners, bar staff, waiters are friendly, courteous and make you feel welcome and valued.

This may have been our first time but I am sure it will not be our last. Well done to everyone at the Cinnamon Dhonveli for making our stay a pleasurable and memorable one.

My wife and I went to the Cinnamon Dhonveli as part of the celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary. This was a very special holiday for us and the hotel helped to make it very special and memorable indeed. The setting is beautiful and just the sort of paradise island that you would expect in the Maldives. The speedboat transfer from Male airport was very efficient and comfortable with just the right amount of excitement that you would expect from a speedboat as the boat bounces across the waves.
The food was very good with a wide selection of dishes on offer to cater for all nationalities and tastes. We like to try new flavours and enjoy a bit of spice and the daily selection of curries catered very well for our tastes. There were daily dishes cooked fresh at breakfast, lunch and dinner along with the usual options laid out separately. There was always fresh fruit available, an excellent selection of baked products and a myriad of desserts. For those with less spicy palates there were always good alternatives.
The rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The rooms are serviced every day, We stayed in a beach bungalow on two floors with a first floor balcony and a small ground floor patio leading out directly onto the beach and with the most beautiful view of the clear blue waters and white sands. The bed was very comfortable indeed and we had some of the best nights' sleep.
The most impressive feature of the resort and the thing that made this one of our best holidays ever is the wonderful hotel staff. Without exception all of the staff we encountered were friendly, efficient and always prepared to do everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as it could possibly be. I have some limited mobility and use a stick to get around and as soon as the reception staff saw me they offered to move us to single floor accommodation, in fact it wasn't necessary but I really appreciated their concern and attentiveness. All the staff that you see around the resort speak to you and offer to help without being asked, the bar staff are incredibly cheerful and friendly and the restaurant staff will do anything for you. They even made us a cake for our anniversary and left a fruit basket and bottle of wine in our room in celebration. The Cinnamon Group should be very proud of all the people they have working at the Dhonveli and I believe it is this willingness to always go the extra mile to help guests that makes this holiday special.
All of the people were fantastic but I did want to just especially mention Niyaz and Nausheen in the restaurant who looked after us wonderfully well.
We can't wait to go back to the Dhonveli next winter for some more winter sunshine.
Thank you!

Good day everyone! We just returned from our trip and I want to say that it was the best vacation of my life!
1. A very pleasant meeting at the airport and at the reception upon arrival (from the airport to the island 20 minutes by boat). You are greeted with a soft drink and nice refreshing napkins. They tell you in detail about the concept of your vacation, what is included and where everything is located. We took premium all inclusive and did not regret it! The price included two excursions, a massage at the spa, attendance at all parties, any drinks at all bars on the island, and a special dinner on the beach.
2. We checked in at 2 p.m., other guests were checked in immediately upon arrival, their rooms were already ready. we booked a Junior Beach Bungalow, we were given room 608, it is the very first and is located three meters from the beach bar)) the room is very clean, cleaning twice a day, the air conditioning works very well
3. I would like to especially mention the wonderful playground and the wonderful girl who entertains the children
4. As for the food, the food is very varied, the dishes are not repeated, I would like to note the staff’s concern for food allergies and dietary needs. Upon arrival at the hotel at the reception, we were asked if there were any allergies or a special diet, we reported that the child was allergic to nuts, and already on our first visit to the restaurant, all the staff knew about this, in addition to the fact that there are signs everywhere that the dish contains (pepper, gluten, nuts) the restaurant staff controlled what we put on the child’s plate or showed her what she shouldn’t eat, it was very nice. They don’t prepare a lot of dishes, but they are very tasty, you won’t go hungry, for those with a sweet tooth there are amazing desserts, ice cream and fruits.
5. Beach. Since our room overlooked the beach, I want to note that the sun loungers are occupied there from 5 in the morning, this is a little inconvenient, but since we mostly swam in the pools, by the way they are very warm, this did not bring us any discomfort since well, the area of our room had its own sun loungers.
It is better to enter the ocean in coral slippers, the sand is fine but mixed with small particles of coral, there are few fish, for those who like to watch fish, it is better to choose another place.

Our vacation turned out to be unforgettable, very comfortable, beautiful, tasty and eventful!
If you want a private vacation this is not the place for you! My personal opinion is that the hotel is not liked by those who have not studied its concept and the island itself well (one part of the island is a beach, the opposite is rocks overlooking the noisy ocean and sunset, but this has its own charm)
And yes, it was not boring here at all, there is a party every evening, karaoke, billiards, and there is a library.
We rented a boat for 1 hour for $49, a canoe for less than $30.
Take everything with you, you won’t be able to buy anything here

Would I come back here? I’ll answer yes without hesitation))
4 star hotel honestly, I don’t understand why, I would give all 5

I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff for their excellent work, you are a great team that helps make our vacation unforgettable))

It was the best vacation of my life!
Let's start with the fact that at Male airport we were immediately found by hotel representatives, as soon as we got out after receiving our luggage, we started looking in the crowd for our representative and he just came up to us himself 😍

Then we waited literally 5 minutes, when another family arrived, we were put on a boat and we went across the Indian Ocean... 20-25 minutes and you find yourself on your paradise island!

Suitcases are marked and delivered to your room, and you are greeted by representatives who speak your language! They also give you a cold wet towel to freshen up and offer various delicious drinks!

We were given a super gift upon arrival - a room upgrade and it was simply amazing - we were given a room overlooking the ocean lagoon with direct access to the beach, on the other side of the room there was a children's playground, huge and new and cool (this is the assessment of our 5 year old child) :)

The cuisine and food are a delight, especially baked goods 😍 during our week on the island there was not a single dish that was not tasty! It's just amazing!!

A lot of different entertainment: we rode jet skis on the ocean, saw dolphins, a flock of stingrays swimming below us, surfed, fished, jumped on a high-speed boat on the waves of the ocean, admired the waves hitting the island from the siege side, and from the other side of the island swam and sunbathed on the snow-white sand!

It’s just love at first sight and tears of happiness in your eyes from what you saw...

Of course, there are also small disadvantages, which if corrected, then it will be a 5* star hotel:

1. Add hooks to the rooms for towels and other things
2. There is a small place on the beach with dead corals that can be removed during low tide
3. I would like more fruit, especially passion fruit was missing
4. Drinking a real coconut only costs $10.
5. You can add a waiter to the beach who would come every 30 minutes and offer drinks and water
6. And lastly, this is for the service center, on a trip to swim with sharks, take food for them, otherwise all the other boats were fed and all the sharks swam next to other yachts, but we didn’t have food for them on the yacht and we couldn’t enjoy them to the fullest :)

Perhaps these are all disadvantages, and then, not disadvantages, but wishes for further development!
I will definitely come back here again and maybe even this year!
I didn’t have enough time that we were on the island, I want more and more!!

After a horrible start of our holiday due to the flight cancellation and stranded at the airport over 9 hours with kids, when we were coming out, Cinnamon staff was waited for us at the airport & the speedboat was ready to take us promptly to the resort. The island was about 25 minutes away. After a warm welcome, guest relations officers did our island orientation and were taken to our rooms on their golf carts.
During our holiday we were in a beach bungalow, in a perfect location overlooking the lagoon a fantastic view just simply waking up looking out the window from your bed; comfortable set up nicely to watch the sunset and the sunrise. Room was spotlessly cleaned twice daily.

Staff everywhere on the island, so happy and nothing is ever too much trouble. Especially to mention our restaurant manger from Trincomalee (sorry I forget your name), was always checking on our food choices & even arranging special dishes to our flavor ensured could not fault a thing, food was fabulous and always plenty of selection. Staff on salad counters & action counters was so nice and made whatever requested in front of us and those were so cute & tasty.

We did snorkeling far from the shore which was nervous initially as it was our first time but the lifeguard Raja really looked after us & we felt no fear; we were lucky to see the most colorful fish and corals….I would say it was not second to our Whale Submarine tour. We went on Dolphin tour and see loads of them very closely & managed to click nice shots.
Front office staff Kasun & his colleagues were really attentive to the requirements of the guests. On a simple request he arranged us even an extended stay to cover the lost hours FoC. Though we decided to checkout on time thought of mentioning this because the airline spoiled our holiday was inflexible of arranging a date change without a charge…..

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the GM – Sanjeeva Perera for his hospitality & maintain this standard.
Very big thanks to our loving friend Anu Jacob & our travel agent Laura for recommending this resort & doing all the arrangements.
Definitely we’ll be coming back very soon!

Traveled to the hotel at the beginning of the rainy season to dive a little. Rented me a beach bungalow. Was awesome. Open the door, walk two steps and stand in the sand, walk five steps and be in the water.
The facility is fairly well maintained. I could hardly detect deterioration or damage in the rooms, in the gardens and otherwise. The food surprised me positively. Very varied and good. However, the premises for eating are not air-conditioned. You have to deal with the climate.
The facility is also designed for families. Bouncy castle in the water and children's playground. Didn't bother me because it's quite extensive.
On the complex, depending on the bungalow type, different restaurants are also possible, which I have not visited.
The lagoon is beautifully designed for swimming and snorkeling, the smaller sharks that may also swim there are a little scary for some, but belong there. However, you do not have a snorkeling experience like in Egypt in the lagoon. Beachbar etc everything available.
There are several bars on the island that are quite nice. The bar, from which you can also watch the surfers , has life music in the evening. Was nice there to sip an early beer and watch the surfers.
Staff were very friendly. RoomService comes by twice a day and my bungalow was always sand-free. Super!
The dive base is well sorted and very serviced. You have a lot of different sea creatures that you can see. Corals I was disappointed myself. But it was all there in residents. For a two week intensive diving holiday, however, I would do island hopping. For 5-6 diving days it is ok there.

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary in the Maldives, we came for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the island and the service. But there were some nuances, we chose a beach villa because we wanted to immediately get to our own piece of the beach. For some reason no one writes about this, but this side of the island is not blown by the wind. Do not lie on a sunbed for more than 15 minutes - this is a sauna. The entrance to the water is not very pleasant, as is the area next to the villa, so we went to the public beach, there is really a Bounty there. In my opinion, there is no point in overpaying for this type of room. We spent the second half of our holiday at the water villa, we liked it much more, despite the fact that renovation work is going on nearby. The water villas have a hydromassage bath; they even bring salt, flip flops, and a washcloth. You can order breakfast in your room for $25, which was enough for two of us. The wonderful guy from the water villa restaurant makes very tasty Bolognese pasta, almost like in Italy. There is a lot of spicy food in the hotel; many seemingly harmless dishes, such as stewed vegetables or meatballs, can turn out to be very spicy. There is little seafood. There was tough lamb and beef. But there were also wonderful dishes, for example, Russian kulebyaka with salmon. Almost all the bartenders make excellent cocktails, I especially liked the pina colada, you can order excellent sherry, the all-inclusive concept also includes freshly squeezed juices (watermelon, mix and pineapple). Our waiter Lasaan did an excellent job with his duties, the cleaning service was also great, it was done twice a day. Overall the service is very decent. I didn’t like that during our $280 anniversary dinner on the beach, the main course - lobster with vegetables and fries - was delivered completely cold. It's strange that cooks and waiters don't know that these dishes should be warm when served. In general, I liked the hotel, there are few people on the island, there are no queues in bars, on the beach or in the dining room, which makes the holiday even more wonderful. There is a love tree where couples can leave a sign with their names and dates.

Unless money is no option, the premium all inclusive is definitely not worth the money! There are a few cocktails on the Premium menu that you can't get on the regular All Inclusive, but big deal! You can still get the big name spirits on the regular all inclusive menu.

Beach bungalows are on the beach. Depending on which ones you can be anything from 3 metres to 10 metres away. You can see the location using google mapsThere are plenty of sunloungers which are for general use but individual beach bungalows have an outside bed/lounger.
