I had called ahead to reserve a room for my fiance and I, but they had lost it when we arrived! Thankfully it didn't matter because we still got an absolutely lovely room, even though it was the only one they had left! The hostel was out of the way of the majority of traffic, since it was across the...

We spent 4 nights at La Casa del Abuelo. Our room was spacious, quiet, lovely and very confortable. The value for price is excellent! To us, it was a perfect place to relax a few days after a tiring (but great!) 4-day excursion in the rain forest. We also appreciated very much the free access to purified water and coffee....

I stayed at La Casa del Abuelo for two nights with an organized tour group (G Adventures). Case del Abuelo is charming, with an open (but covered) dining area. The fridge was stocked with beer and bottled water for purchase. There was also filtered water, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available 24 hours. Breakfast consisted of bread, scrambled eggs, fresh...

Rated very good in terms of local standards. In the UK probably an average. Hope that helps manage your expectations. All clean and tidy, everything worked… things a little damp, but hey we were in the jungle. I did not sample breakfast and so cannot comment about that. Yes as a base for a day or two absolutely fine.

We stayed at this hostel as part of a group of friends travelling around Equador. We were travelling as a family of five (two adults and three children) and other group of friends . On arrival in the evening our tour leader specifically asked if the place had running hot water and he was assured it did. When we got...

I was here as part of a group tour but def have stayed here as my own choice aswell. The rooms here are big & the owners/ staff are super friendly. They even managed to get beer in the fridge for us on a Sunday (which apparently isnt usual in Ecuador). You have 3 choices of breakfast of which I...

I stayed there for two nights and have no regrets. It is a nice quiet rustic place. La Casa del Abuelo is located near the town's center. The person at the desk was very polite and helped us in everythin we asked. If you are traveling to Tena I would recommend this casa.

We booked four nights with these people and left after one. Our room was pleasant but they wouldn't do a thing to help us and we felt decidedly unwelcome. And that was after arriving and immediately upgrading our booking to their 'suite' room - not to mention the fact we were the only guests in the hotel. An example of...

As a family of four we stayed two nights here in July. It was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in in Ecuador. I didn't find the staff to be overly friendly, but the surroundings made up for that. It would have been better value for money if breakfast had been included. Breakfast has to be requested the...

We stayed here for one night and it was a welcome haven on our Ecuador travels! The rooms are spacious and the house is located centrally but in a quiet, safe street not far from the main square. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer!
