Ashtamudi Villas is a wonderful oasis! Joseph and his staff are so welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with high quality attached bathrooms. Joseph arranged a boat trip for us to Munroe Island and also took us to a local festival which was amazing. The boat picks you up and drops you back at Ashtamudi Viilas so you don’t need to do anything!
All in all, a great place to stay. Green, shaded and peaceful right by the lake.
Thank you Joseph & staff 🙏

I stayed for six(!) wonderful days and nights. As a solo traveller, this a great place to transition away from city life. It was very peaceful and quiet ( a number of potential drop-ins left because there is no television), and I was able to work intensely outdoors all day with no disturbances and great wifi. I also loved complete access to a canoe, anytime from pre-dawn to sunset, dusk and beyond. Nadu was perfect and Sanal took tremendously good care of every possible thing. What a wonderful place, with great people!

It is clear that there is a clear discrepancy between the all or almost rave reviews and the reality of this accommodation which is certainly quite well located (although we are 90% dependent on the rickshaws linked to the property). The lake is in front of you, but you can only contemplate the house boats which circulate between Kollam and backwaters..the eagles which hunt small fish… 2 or 3 hammocks are scattered under the trees. Otherwise, it is very rustic, even basic in terms of comfort and equipment. Meals on site are very limited in choice (shrimp?! or… tiger prawns ;-) The welcome is certainly friendly but that is not everything. The excursion to Munroe Island is not worth it (uninteresting villages, pollution, aquaculture farms, etc.)

This was a fantastic option in Kollam. The manager kindly upgraded our room as it was my girlfriend's birthday, and ensured we were well looked after during our 2 day stay. It was a beautiful location, with hammocks swinging in the gardens, and free kayak rental on the lake which was excellent during sunset. The breakfast was good too, and it was really good value for money. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and had their own private veranda. Would definitely return again but for longer next time

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this homestay resort. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was good for both Kollam town and for picking up a houseboat. Joseph, Ashtamudi Villas' owner, was so helpful. He went above-and-beyond by arranging a taxi for us after our houseboat trip that took us to our next destination via nearby Hindu festival celebrations. We strongly recommend this place.

The setting is idyllic. On the banks of a lake in a quiet residential suburb of Kollam. Great place to see and experience local life. A few steps from your room and you are at the edge of the lake where you can watch the sun set behind palm trees and the fishing nets of neighbouring houses. The staff are competent, and at the snap of a finger can organize an unforgettable canoe tour through nearby Munroe Island.

The location is absolutely picturesque as it is on the serene banks of the beautiful Ashtamudi lake. The cottages are absolutely simple, rather bare with minimum amenities. Apart from a double bed and attached bath, there's nothing at all. However the staff are very courteous, helpful and polite. The approach road (200m) is scaringly narrow and one is wary of rubbing the sides of one's car along the left or right sides or slipping into the water! From that experience, I wouldn't want to go there again although the staff were very nice.

We had 2 nights there and had a really great time! The inhabitants were really kind, preparing what we wanted and even lighting antimosquitos candle when we were reading in the garden. The kerala breakfast were delicious. The room was super comfortable, one of the cleanest that we had during our stay.
We totally recommend !
Cheers
