The Old School B&B offers three exquisitely appointed rooms, ideal for couples or solo travellers visiting Chichester for pleasure or on business. The Florence Humphreys room, formerly the School Mistress' Office, boasts a king-size bed. The Milligan Room, also with a king-size bed, is named to offer a nod to the building’s celebrity links, and the Leighton Room provides cosy comfort. All rooms are en suite, with a generous hospitality tray including a range of teas, freshly ground coffee, and chilled fresh milk. We're adults-only, the closest B&B to Goodwood Motor Circuit, and perfectly located for exploring the South Downs National Park and nearby beaches. With a variety of dishes to choose from, and using seasonal produce from our garden, our breakfast menu also includes vegetarian and vegan options. Guests can enjoy breakfast in the conservatory, dining room, or alfresco in the garden. With ultra-fast full-fibre wifi, we cater to the needs of modern travellers.

Detailed Reviews
The moment you walk through the door its like "coming home", you are made so welcome, the room was so clean and fresh, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was of a very high standard, and you were spoilt for choice When we left we were not guests but felt like we were old friends, we will certainly return the next time we are in Sussex, which we hope will be soon. Our only disappointment was that we were not staying longer.
Peter and David thank you for a wonderful stay.

Our third visit to this wonderful retreat. After 3 months of lockdown, we wanted a safe break away, and could think of nowhere better than The Old School for a couples nights away from home. We knew, based on our previous stays, that they would take all the appropriate measures to ensure that we had a safe and enjoyable stay, and of course we were not disappointed.
Everything was as perfect as possible, immaculately clean (no surprise there!), scrumptious breakfasts, and a clear concern for coronavirus safety, with our own dining space, social distancing, and products to ensure hand sanitation everywhere.
David and Peter were their same amiable hosts (at a distance of course), and were able to assist in finding open venues to visit and eat.
Thank you both, a real tonic when we needed it.

We stayed at the Old School in August and am ashamed to say it has taken me this long to write a review. Why? Well, I have struggled to find anything to add to what has already been said! All I can do it endorse what others have written in that this really is an exceptional B&B and as close to perfection as anyone could hope to find anywhere in the UK. Beautifully appointed rooms are spotlessly clean, the garden rivals any 'open garden' we have visited and a perfectly cooked breakfast in the conservatory set us up for the day. But of course, it is the human touch that makes a place so special and Peter & David truly are the perfect hosts. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have found an excuse to return at the end of this month when I hope homemade rhubarb and ginger jam will still be on offer!

This B & B really is as good as all the reviews say it is. Hosts Peter & David have given such attention to detail - as well as the Covid 19 precautions, their warm welcome, tastefully decorated home, comfortable rooms, copious beautifully presented breakfasts, tea or coffee & shortbreads in the afternoon - everything to ensure a memorable stay! And they're both such good company, with information about the area & recommendations on local pubs. We hope to return, maybe in the summer so we can take advantage of their lovely garden.

We stayed at The School House whilst we did a boat course in Chichester. The rooms were spotlessly clean with additional little touches like Ecoknit towels, chilled water and toiletries. Breakfast was superb and we think one of the best we’ve had anywhere. Thank you so much Peter & David for your efforts to make our stay with you so relaxing and enjoyable.

Three nights exceeded all our expectations! Peter and David are terrific hosts, they work hard to ensure everything is perfect, The breakfast options are all delicious and beautifully presented. The bedrooms are decorated to a very high standard, very comfortable and tastefully furnished with many interesting features. The lounge is spacious and a great space to relax..
On arrival, and each afternoon, we were greeted warmly and offered tea and shortbread. Nothing was too much trouble.
The whole house is decorated to a very high standard, toiletries and towels are well chosen and everywhere is spotlessly clean., Breakfast in the conservatory is a great way to start the day and stroll in the garden in the afternoon was most enjoyable.

Immaculate. Eclectic decor, comfortable lounge, and conservatory dripping with plants. Spotless bedroom and bathroom, subtle and well prepared breakfast, overall reflecting the great attention to careful detail. Peter will tell you that he's feeling the garden needs some weeding, but every corner turned is a delight and a surprise. I hope we need to be in Chichester again very soon and wouldn't consider anywhere else to stay.

The Old School B&B is one of the the best places I've stayed! A lovely home from home experience in a beautiful garden. The room we stayed in had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean - it smelled amazing and I spent some time tracking and noting which reed diffuser was being used! Peter and David are the most incredible hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay special, not least making some adjustments to their normal policy for my daughter due to her CFS/ME. I was especially blown away by having so many choices for breakfast on a vegan menu! Unheard of in most places - and the food was delicious. We have already booked again to come back in September!

We took lockdown seriously- months of hiding at home, groceries delivered on the doorstep, avoiding contact with friends and family, leaving the house only for a once daily walk where no-one else would tread...
So it was with more than a hint of trepidation and nervousness that we decided to finally venture out, and stay at this delightful little place that (on the website) promised it was taking this virus lark Very Seriously.
And it did. We need not have worried.
As soon as we arrived we relaxed, took a moment to breathe, and enjoyed tea and cookies (beautifully served) in the (beautifully tended) garden. We took the fact that the sun was blazing as a good omen.
We loved every minute of our two night stay here. The property is charming with lots to look at. The room was wonderfully comfortable with lots of attention to detail. The breakfasts were just amazing! (And there was lots of it!)
But taking prime position were the hosts, Peter and David, who made the effort to put us at our ease whilst making the process look completely effortless. We thoroughly enjoyed their company as we returned from our excursions, and as we made to go out in the mornings and again in the evenings.
Thanks also for a super dinner suggestion- The George at Eartham, just ten minutes’ drive away.
We’ll be returning next year when the theatres reopen. We’ll be able to enjoy the delights of the South Pacific and of Westhampnett in One Enchanted Evening!

Bury St. Edmunds, United Kingdom282 contributions94 helpful votesHello. This B and B looks lovely. We see it is about 1.7 miles to centre of Chichester. We quite like to walk and this would save driving in and parking. Is it about a 30 minute walk?
Hi. At a reasonable pace it will take about 30 mins. Not a particularly pretty or interesting walk. However Chichester is lovely.
The B&B is excellent and I would certainly recommend it. You will get a great welcome, a lovely room and superb breakfast.
