Decor, temperature, food and entertainment all suitable for 70+. Coach party of retirees from Liverpool in while we were there, too. Perhaps has found a niche and, short of Alex Polizzi and lots of investment, isn't coming out of it. However - central, big car park, real ale on bar at £2 per pint, nice staff, Mccolls opposite open 7-11,...

Great location, lovely staff, but that's the best I can say about this hotel. The first impression of the hotel was poor: no light in the lift, a corridor with no wallpaper, and then a bedroom with peeling wallpaper, and beds that creaked at the slightest move. Although the waiting-on staff were very attentive, food served from the kitchen was...

We have been going to this hotel for Sunday lunch for years, on and off and the food was generally quite good. it had a carver with a choice of meats and similarly a good choice of vegetables, The restaurant has improved in appearance but that is it. We had the roast pork which was so thin, you could practically...

We stay here, along with several friends, a couple of times a year for a jazz weekend and always find the hotel welcoming. The staff are lovely and work hard to make your stay enjoyable. Any problem is quickly dealt with where possible but unfortunately the boiler decided to break down last Sunday, which meant no hot water and try...

Stayed one night at this hotel, everything was fine would not hesitate to stay here again. Breakfast room was pleasant, enough choices of cereal, fruit juices full English breakfast + kippers porridge etc. Room comfortable with nice bathroom (shower only) probably would need extra blankets as the weather gets colder.

We were booked into the Wessex Hotel on a dance weekend and having read some of the reviews on tripadvisor I was a bit concerned what it would be like, but I was very pleasantly surprised, our room at the back of the hotel had a fourposter bed and was very nicely decorated, the ensuite bathroom was clean with a...

Only stayed for one night at the Wessex hotel, me & my partner paid quite a lot for one night, £89.50 (to be exact) the room had been refurbished and was of a reasonable standard. Nice double bed, enough storage space, great variety of tea & coffee, nice sized bathroom, bad continental breakfast! Spotless room!

This is the first time we have been to this hotel and we would happily go there again. The room was great, the staff were great, helpful, polite and went the extra mile. There was good choices for the 3 course evening meal, which was always hot and tasty, everywhere was spotlessly clean

Treated ourselves to a hotel room on at the end of a hilly eighty mile leg of our End to End cycle ride. The staff parked our bikes for us in the Managers office. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable and everything worked as it should. Lots of choice for breakfast, which was served quickly and efficiently....
