We stayed at Barbaras Apartments at the beginning of September and had a wonderful time. Perched on the top of the hill overlooking the town, the views from the enormous balcony were amazing. The apartment itself was a good size, with a separate bedroom, air conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen- it even came with a washing machine, which for around £50 a night I thought was excellent value. In fact, as someone who generally stays in budget accommodation, its one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in. Its located in a nice peaceful neighbourhood on the outskirts of town. On arrival, Barbara greeted us personally (she lives downstairs) and showed us round the flat, taking the time to print off bus timetables, when she realised we didn't have car and told us about lots of the attractions on the island. She'd left a couple of bottles of water and some biscuits for us as well, which was a really nice touch. It really felt like we were a guest in her home, she made us feel so welcome. On leaving, having noticed that my husband had got through a full jar of honey during our stay, she gave him some homemade honey as a gift, which he reckons is the nicest he's ever tasted! The only possible problem with the apartment, if you have mobility issues, is the very steep hill you need to climb to access it from the town, but if you have a car this wouldn't matter. Argostoli itself is a great little town, with lots of beaches within a few miles radius (accessible by car or by foot) , a good shopping street and some nice restaurants. The giant turtles in the lagoon are also definitely worth checking out. So all in all, a perfect place to stay, both in terms of the accommodation and the location. We had a great time!…
