We visited Kennicott Glacier Lodge for the second time last month. The first trip was five years ago. Staying in Kennicott was a wonderful experience. So much history. I was able to do some late night photography that was a real treat. The staff at the Lodge was very helpful and professional. The food was great. The accommodations were comfortable...

The Kennicott Glacier lodge is a very special place. The location is great above the glacier. The surroundings are very special. The ancient copper mine and the walking tracks. Dinner is family style but good. It is very nice to meet other people at the table. Our south wing room was very good and spacious. Breakfast and lunch is good...

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Lodge in late August. Did their Grand Tour Package, flying in from Anchorage to Gulkana and then to McCarthy. The weather wasn't the greatest but we still saw amazing scenery on our ways in and out. The pilots were awesome. Once we got to the Lodge, we went to our room in the...

This place is the bomb! (That's a good thing). How many places can you go with a glacier out your door? Glacierologysts (is that a word) come here from round' the world to study. Get your butt out there and take advantage of the terrific outdoor guides (outside the lodge door). Yes, they have shared bathrooms but pretend you're a...

Expensive -- very isolated. At least a seven hour drive east from Anchorage, the last 60 miles of which is on a pretty good (the days we drove it) gravel road, the "McCarthy Road." Very few rental cars are available for this trip, and though we'd "reserved" one from Budget (the only major company that will rent a car for...

The lodge is beautiful with access to great hikes in the midst of Wrangell St Elias. Rooms are clean, meals are nice (although dinner has a set menu per day with no options and at a set time). The downside is that the main lodge has shared bathrooms and there may be a slight wait to take a shower or...

The hotel is located in the middle of "nowhere". The way to arrive to the hotel is by flight in a light plane or by car that can pass through difficult way. Lovely view from the room. Nearby is the old copper mine of Kennicott. Within walking distance of 3 km is there is the Kennicott glacier. It's possible to...

I've been here many times before. Yes, the lodge can have a few quirks. If you stay in the main lodge, you will deal with shared bathrooms and creaky floors. If you stay in the new wing, you will deal with stiff beds and somewhat marginal rooms . . . The staff can be a little uneven, my companion was...

The lodge is in the middle of nowhere so it is appropriately priced. The "bathrooms down the hall" was not too bad BUT it is VERY noisy. The floors are wooden and creak and everyone slams doors and walks right by your window (with your head 3" away) while on their way to breakfast chatting. If you don't plan on...

Dear Kelplady, Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your experience. To minimize the sound in the Main Lodge, we ask all of our Guests to respect the quiet hours of 10:30pm to 7am. For sensitive sleepers, we recommend rooms on the second floor of the Main Lodge or the second floor of the South Wing. Thanks again...
