The people are fantastic and the fishing is out of this world. The guides are very knowledgeable and will do everything they can to help. The accommodation is basic but it is clean and the rooms are air conditioned. A great place to go fishing and you are right on the beach. Awesome.

I've fished out of The Villages on 4 different occasions and continue to believe this is the best saltwater fly fishing destination for the money. The guides are excellent and accommodations more than adequate. The food is simple and a bit boring, but the fishing is excellent.

This venue is basic but the rooms are very good sized and in blocks of two so plenty of privacy. Hot water showers, aircon and fridges in the rooms. Its right on the lagoon so the view is great but its not suitable for swimming. the hosts are the whole village and they look after guests very well. Although we...

First of all, you need to set you expectation level right. On Kiritimati there is no such thing as a hotel. There's bungalows and huts, but at their best they equal to a cheap motel in western standards. Now that your expectation level is right, let's go ahead to the review. :) The Villages is probably the best lodging you...

First of all, do not have expectations of staying in a 5 star hotel in Kiritimati (they don't exist). Given that...most places will be equivalent to a Motel 6 or worse. The Villages definitely made up for what they lack. The facilities are not the best if you have experienced 5 star hotels before...but...the service was outstanding. You have to...

I stayed at The Village whilst on a fishing trip from the US and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Keeping in mind that you are in the middle of the Pacific ocean, thousands of miles from anywhere resembling the amenities and conveniences we might be used to in our home towns, I was pleasantly surprised by the comforts at this...

This was our first trip to CXI and one we'd been eagerly awaiting for months. The Villages offers basic but clean and comfortable rooms with running water (sometimes even hot), air con and a big fridge for your drinks and ice. Neemia works hard to plan your daily fishing depending on species you want to target and fishing styles you...

The hospitality of the staff and guides at The Villages is incomparable. Accommodations, while simple, are clean and comfortable; air conditioned cottages and wind-cooled common areas defeat the prevailing 90 degree heat. Meals are simple but well prepared from fresh-caught local fish, octopus and lobsters, with beef and lamb options for those who don't relish fish. The quality of the...

If you want to fly fish for bonefish, trevally and other species you don't need to go anywhere else. This place is fantastic. The hosts are friendly and helpful, the guides are experienced and well skilled. You will catch plenty of fish. The hotel is clean and the food good. Christmas Island is remote so don't expect 5 star but...

Stayed one week here on a fly fishing expedition. There are many different species you can target from bonefish, GT's, Wahoo, Tuna, bluefin Trevaly, Triggerfish and even Milkfish. There are abundant lagoons, inshore reef and blue water opportunities. The island is also a host to a number of nesting sea birds which you will want to go out of your...

“Ask for a room with the large refrigerator so you can make your own ice. Also bring plenty of small denominations of currency for tipping (they use the Australian dollar for the main currency). Also bring a travel electric convertor for Australian use to charge your electronics.”
