We are a family run homestay on the beach front in Kannur, North Kerala, India. This charming place in a quiet and secluded area, very close to a pristine and mostly deserted Thottada beach is also situated by a small river. On a beach amongst lush green coconut groves and with a view of the sea, it offers the best in food, relaxation and comfort. With 4 double rooms and a triple room, the beach house has been every travelers delight for over a decade. All the rooms offer a breath taking view of the beach and the sea. Meals are set and conducted at a communal dining area at fixed timings. There are no room service, TV or porters. Wifi is available. Activities include walking on the long stretch of golden beach, among thick coconut plantation through the village, basking in the sun and sand, bird watching, boating, angling, sightseeing or simply watching the village life go by.

Was so happy to finally stay at the Kannur Beach House, which I had heard so much about. My expectations were met, plus more. The food was very delicious,a clean almost empty beach just a stone throw away and the hospitality TOP. I liked having a wonderful Ayurvedic Massage Therapist in the neighborhood, just a 5 minutes walk from the beach house. I was quite tired from my travels and activities and decided to spend my last days in India just resting and being spoiled. Mission accomplished at the Kannur Beach House! Wish I could have stayed longer!

Rosi could not have been more helpful; from answering my questions before making a booking to arranging an airport transfer. She called the driver as we left the airport to check if I had arrived and whether I would like to stop for lunch on my way to the house. Upon arrival I was welcomed into a beautiful beach home with all the home comforts, including a guest kitchen where we were able to make a cup of tea or our own meal. Breakfast and dinner were provided daily, and what a feast of the most delicious home cooked South Indian food. Scrumptious! My room was upstairs with a glorious view of the beach. A balcony allowed me to enjoy the view from my comfortable room. The house is a short distance across a bridge to a quiet beach where I swam in the early morning and walked

We spent six nights at Kannur Beach House and wish we could have spent many more. The location is lovely, within walking distance are two lovely beaches, a small village and local shops. The accommodation neighbours a lagoon that is home to lots of bird life. The only noises you notice are waves crashing or birds chirping. The accommodation is simple, as is stated, the bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean and that’s all that matters. All rooms have a gorgeous view of the sunset over the sea. The food is delicious. Lots of variety with every meal, we can’t recall having the same dish twice. To make a good meal is one thing, but to make food that is consistently outstanding is another - easily the best food we’ve had in India. What really makes this place shine though

In 6 weeks of travel in India, Kannur Beach House is a highlight. Accommodation is straightforward, spotless and authentic, the food is both plentiful and delicious. Meals are at a communal table with the hosts and other guests. As a solo traveller I found this a welcome change to the anonymity of some places. The hosts are also charming, engaging, well travelled and very helpful. There are fabulous uncrowded beaches, a lagoon to explore by canoe, and genuinely friendly locals. When in India, I will go out of my way to stay here again. Thottada is a real place not spoiled by tourism, long may it remain so.

My daughter & myself arrived at the Beach house after a week of travelling. It was a relief to find somewhere so tranquil after the hustle & bustle of the tourist trails. Rozie was there to greet us on arrival! The rooms are basic but adequate. The food was amazing& our hosts exceptionally kind & helpful! We met & made friends with People from various countries & Indian nationals who all agreed that we were in a little corner of paradise. We will recommend to our friends & family & hope to return one day, hopefully sooner than later!

We have stayed at the Kannur Beach house four times now and intend to return again when we can - the location is the best, the beach house is located right next to the beautiful, unspoilt and mostly empty Thottada beach. A long stretch of golden sand backed with coconut palms, and warm sea. The food is another highlight, Rosie daily organises the menu of local Keralan food for breakfast and dinner, the guests around the table gives nothing but compliments of the tasty cuisine. What adds to the reason why this home stay is a must to visit, are the hosts Nazir &Rosie, who do everything to make your visit a memorable stay - having a font of local knowledge they will give you suggestions what to do - if the beach isn’t enough! They are kind and accommodating where possible. Perfect

Wonderful 2 week stay in Kannur beach house with Rosie and Nazir. The house is only accessible on foot - a short walk over a bridge to the gate. It was so relaxing and with superb food and your room cleaned regularly which meant you felt looked after and at home. It is a true home stay with both Rosie and Nazir ‘on call’ if wanted. They also ate with us and contributed considerably to the interesting conversations that occurred. On Christmas night we had a bit of Indian dancing and music but most evenings everyone retired after dinner. Rosie is a spectacular organiser and can set up anything you want to do - theyams, river cruises and taxis or rickshaws as needed. Nazir is wise and a man of the earth whose knowledge reaches considerably beyond the local wildlife and area. Other

A perfect place to relax, with the beach on your doorstep. Rosi and Nazir were excellent hosts, organising trips to a theyyam (an absolute must do) and our onward train journey. The food was outstanding, no wonder this place gets the repeat guests who come back year after year. I find it hard to do nothing, but it became a very natural thing to do here. Bliss.

After having regulaly visited Kannur beach house for the last 13 years, for many, many weeks, we have notised a phenomenon. Guests come and many are restless tired and stressed. Some even have a negative and critical attitude... But after some days stay, so many slowly become more peaceful in their mindsand relaxed in their bodies. Why? We think the friendly atmosphere, Rosies marvellous food (delicious, nutritious and heatlhy) long walks in peaceful surroundings helps. The wisdom of Nazir and interesting conversation arond dinner table are the answers.A Hidden treasure!
