We are a family run homestay on the beach front in Kannur, North Kerala, India. This charming place in a quiet and secluded area, very close to a pristine and mostly deserted Thottada beach is also situated by a small river. On a beach amongst lush green coconut groves and with a view of the sea, it offers the best in food, relaxation and comfort. With 4 double rooms and a triple room, the beach house has been every travelers delight for over a decade. All the rooms offer a breath taking view of the beach and the sea. Meals are set and conducted at a communal dining area at fixed timings. There are no room service, TV or porters. Wifi is available. Activities include walking on the long stretch of golden beach, among thick coconut plantation through the village, basking in the sun and sand, bird watching, boating, angling, sightseeing or simply watching the village life go by.

Delightfully relaxing holiday at KBH. A warm and friendly welcome at the gate from Nazir and Rosi for a second visit to their charming Homestay. First things first, out of the gate again, stand on the footpath and breathe in ... sunlight on water, crashing of surf, wind in the trees ... And breathe out. That’s it ... apart from choosing books from the well stocked library, deciding on a hammock and strolling to the beach before the sun is too hot. Oh yes! Appreciation to kitchen staff for serving delicious breakfasts and suppers ... each meal was a feast of choice and flavours, shared with all the other guests at the vibrant communal dining table. Recommend a trip into Kannur Town for a light lunch at Mayuri North Indian Food. Blue skies everyday.

This is our third visit to Kannur Beach House (KBH). We have grown to love the relaxed atmosphere of this Homestay as well as the charming hosts who look after all their guests so well and really go the extra mile! We love the quietness of the lagoon, the paths through the coconut groves alongside it, teeming with birds and other wildlife, and of course the nearby beach. The food is the best we have found in our travels In India both in terms of variety of dishes, quantity and quality. Also, staying at KBH provides a wonderful opportunity to visit a local area a little off the beaten track which makes for a really interesting experience. We would highly recommend this Homestay.

This was our 6th time at KBH and it did not disappoint. We stayed for 3 weeks this time which flew by in a second. The food just gets better and better. Soo healthy and tasty breakfasts were to die for. This time a new ayrverdic center has opened practically next door which was really great, I went for a full body oil massage and loved it, it was a good price also at 1200 rupees. Also a new parotta/tea stall has opened at thottada west which we liked for lunch very much, it's new so not always open or available but when it was we were pleased. We went to see the goldsmith next door who made a wedding ring for us from silver which we had engraved and was a bargain price. We loved watching him at work a total master craftsman and a local ledge. And what can I say about Rosi and

We love Kannur Beach House, and this was our eighth visit. Rosi and Nazir are wonderful hosts. Rosi is extremely helpful and happy to organise transport etc and give advice re travel arrangements etc. The food is excellent, breakfast exceptional with a wonderful spread including plenty of fresh fruit. We love eating with the other guests and meeting new and old friends around the table. The location is great: just near the beach....lovely swimming every day. There are plenty of birds to see and photograph , and we are still finding different birds. We are already planning our next trip....

Was so happy to finally stay at the Kannur Beach House, which I had heard so much about. My expectations were met, plus more. The food was very delicious,a clean almost empty beach just a stone throw away and the hospitality TOP. I liked having a wonderful Ayurvedic Massage Therapist in the neighborhood, just a 5 minutes walk from the beach house. I was quite tired from my travels and activities and decided to spend my last days in India just resting and being spoiled. Mission accomplished at the Kannur Beach House! Wish I could have stayed longer!

Rosi could not have been more helpful; from answering my questions before making a booking to arranging an airport transfer. She called the driver as we left the airport to check if I had arrived and whether I would like to stop for lunch on my way to the house. Upon arrival I was welcomed into a beautiful beach home with all the home comforts, including a guest kitchen where we were able to make a cup of tea or our own meal. Breakfast and dinner were provided daily, and what a feast of the most delicious home cooked South Indian food. Scrumptious! My room was upstairs with a glorious view of the beach. A balcony allowed me to enjoy the view from my comfortable room. The house is a short distance across a bridge to a quiet beach where I swam in the early morning and walked

We spent six nights at Kannur Beach House and wish we could have spent many more. The location is lovely, within walking distance are two lovely beaches, a small village and local shops. The accommodation neighbours a lagoon that is home to lots of bird life. The only noises you notice are waves crashing or birds chirping. The accommodation is simple, as is stated, the bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean and that’s all that matters. All rooms have a gorgeous view of the sunset over the sea. The food is delicious. Lots of variety with every meal, we can’t recall having the same dish twice. To make a good meal is one thing, but to make food that is consistently outstanding is another - easily the best food we’ve had in India. What really makes this place shine though

In 6 weeks of travel in India, Kannur Beach House is a highlight. Accommodation is straightforward, spotless and authentic, the food is both plentiful and delicious. Meals are at a communal table with the hosts and other guests. As a solo traveller I found this a welcome change to the anonymity of some places. The hosts are also charming, engaging, well travelled and very helpful. There are fabulous uncrowded beaches, a lagoon to explore by canoe, and genuinely friendly locals. When in India, I will go out of my way to stay here again. Thottada is a real place not spoiled by tourism, long may it remain so.
