We are a family run homestay on the beach front in Kannur, North Kerala, India. This charming place in a quiet and secluded area, very close to a pristine and mostly deserted Thottada beach is also situated by a small river. On a beach amongst lush green coconut groves and with a view of the sea, it offers the best in food, relaxation and comfort. With 4 double rooms and a triple room, the beach house has been every travelers delight for over a decade. All the rooms offer a breath taking view of the beach and the sea. Meals are set and conducted at a communal dining area at fixed timings. There are no room service, TV or porters. Wifi is available. Activities include walking on the long stretch of golden beach, among thick coconut plantation through the village, basking in the sun and sand, bird watching, boating, angling, sightseeing or simply watching the village life go by.

If you are looking for a seaside experience far from the chaos and wild overbuilding and at the same time you don't want to give up an immersion in the traditions and culture of Kerala, the Kannur Beach House represents a treasure to be collected at any cost. Located right at the end of a country road with little traffic in itself, the accommodations are located on the lagoon behind the sea, a few meters from a pristine beach. Surrounded by maritime avifauna placidly pecking a few meters from the terrace of the rooms, lulled by the sound of the waves of the nearby ocean, pampered by the hosts who are always very diligent in organizing trips to the backwaters, visits to the unmissable ritual dance shows of Theyyam or to any other activity present in the surrounding area, a stay at the Beach House truly represents an opportunity for total peace and regeneration. In this context, the extremely refined culinary offering represents an almost touching addition. The various courses of delicious local foods, consumed for breakfast and dinner together with the hosts and other guests under the pagoda located in the middle of the tropical garden surrounding the house, would in themselves be worth the effort of the trip. What can I say...thanks for the wonderful experience and (we hope) see you again soon.

Our favourite place to relax in India. Kannur Beach House has so much to offer, wonderful food, sea views through coconut palms, a backwater teaming with bird life, sea swimming, massages and much more. Most of all it is Rosie and Nazir that make it so special, there is always a warm welcome and good conversations round the communal table They are full of local knowledge and always there to help find a tuk tuk or a visit to a Theyam. We can't recommend it more highly.

The best view to wake up to, delicious and delectable food to look forward to every breakfast and dinner and great banter with other guests during meal times! The hosts, Nazir and Rosi are incredibly welcoming, made us feel at home instantly, and was so open to sharing local knowledge of places, culture and every other random topic that came up. The beach is beautiful and water warm; there are other nice beaches as well to the left and right of Thottada beach where we walked to. On weekend evenings, the beach does get a little busy, but nothing crazy. We got to go to a theyyam as well - and we were mesmerized by the whole ritual; everything from the dance to the drumming to the early morning tuk tuk ride to the small grove it was happening at was a great experience. Rosi helped us with booking our onwards journeys by train and organized transport for all the times we wanted to go to Kannur city (handloom centres, etc etc). We stayed in one of the second floor room - simple room with picturesque view out to the river mouth, beach and the sea!

I had the most amazing time here. The hosts were impeccable in every way, and always available. Relax in a hammock, enjoy good talks and coconut water, while listening to the calming waves of the nearby ocean. In the evening take a stroll on the beach, watch the sunset, and enjoy the tasty, fresh food back at the resort. I will miss everything about this place, and the people living there. Thank you!

The strongest indication of quality is repeat business. Kannur Beach House is a place where people keep coming back, and back, and back again! There must be some kind of magic here. I think it's a combination of hosts and setting. Rosi and Nazir are always kind, helpful and insightful plus the home-cooked Kerala food is great. The house itself is a perfect place to relax, nestling beside a coconut-laden lagoon and a virtually deserted beach. It's not commercial here, or over-touristy and may it stay that way! So, we keep coming back. Book way in advance – KBH fills up quickly. We've got next year reserved already. Looking forward!

My stay here was probably the closest thing to Heaven I'll ever be able to experience. The ocean was perfect to swim in when it would get too warm, and then a little nap afterwards in the hammocks would get me ready for the next swim.
The food was delicious, a perfect combination of indian food and a little bit of western food (toast, porridge, yogurt).
The rooms were cozy and spacious; although I spent most of my time outside because of the beautiful climate.
But what I'll cherish the most has to be the kindness and hospitality of the host family. Me and my friends enjoyed some very memorable conversations with them, and if I ever were to go back here it would primarily be because of them.

We had a beautiful, quite and peaceful stay ..right next to beach, full view of sea through the coconut trees and a lagoon in front. Location is exceptional, beach is almost private (few visitors) and you just get to listen to the wind rustling through the leaves.
Rosi and Nazir are wonderful hosts and made our stay livelier with some good conversation !
Our rooms were basic but clean and neat. Breakfast and Dinners were of good variety and wholesome !
If you are looking for a workcation - Jio network is good !
Highly recommend the place !

We had a joyful and relaxing stay at the Kannur Beach House with Rosi and Nazir. Our room had a view through the palm trees, across the lagoon, over the golden beach and all the way to the waves. It’s a very short walk to the beach, and the sea is so lovely, we swam at least twice a day during our stay. There are nice walks along the beaches and through the lush neighborhoods along quiet lanes with lots of colorful birds. It’s an easy trip by bus or auto to the main town of Kannur where you can visit the fort. Or why not spend the afternoon reading in a hammock? If Rosi asks you if you would like to attend a Theyyam, you MUST say yes, no matter how early it requires waking up; this is a local and ancient form of ritualistic art and an experience that cannot be missed. Breakfast and dinner include diverse and very delicious Keralan recipes and it was lovely catching up with the other guests during the meals. If you need lunch you can walk to the nearby village or have a meal delivered from a nearby restaurant, and there is also a kitchenette where you can make tea anytime. Consider paddling the canoe up the estuary before breakfast. Kannur Beach House is a little piece of heaven. It’s the kind of place that makes you marvel at your luck for finding it. No matter how long you book for you will wish you had booked for longer.

This is one of the most peaceful places I've stayed in. The house is old, there are only a few rooms, meals are communal, but for the rest of the time, you're blissfully alone. The beach is a very short walk away and the view from the room is fabulous. The food is really nice and the hosts Rosy and Nasser have a nuanced way of taking care of their guests, being generous with their company while also allowing each one their space.

We stayed at the Beach house in Kannur for 2 nights in November 2023.

The best thing about the Beach house is its location close to a clean and almost empty beach. We watched a glorious sunset sitting in the veranda.
The hosts are very hospitable and helpful. We spent long hours in the evening chatting with them and the other guests around the table in the outdoor dining area.
You get breakfast and dinner, which is excellent value for money and I must say the food at the beach house was probably the best we had in the ten days we spent in Kerala.
If you don’t mind the spartan and rustic accommodation this would be an ideal place to stay for a beach holiday.
We will definitely be going back.
