A place where I would like to visit many times over the course of my life. A place where also I would like to spend the last few days of my life (whenever that happens :) ) - propped on some pillows, amongst the palms trees and the birds with the sight of the ocean and the creek, and the sun setting beautifully every evening in front of me. A lovely family runs the place. Quaint locality - Thottada in the bustling (but not without character) town of Kannur. Delectable Malabar / Mappila cuisine. Its an absolute perfect concoction of a beautiful place run by lovely hosts, great culture and cuisine in the local area.
Exactly a year later, it remains as pristine as ever with a new road link to the island via a new bridge. Private beach experience will stay with u forever. Staff as helpful and courteous as ever. Mr Raveendran, the manager went out of the way to ensure we were comfortable throughout our short stay. There is a kucha road all the way upto Navy territory which is a good one way walk, and the return could be done via the beach. Amazing exercise that is. Overall, as amazing an experience as it was last time.
Our third visit to this beautiful island.Very beautiful place and beach it's different experience, one side sea other side kayal. After lock down our first tripe. Neat and clean room, very tasty sea foods and nice dealings.
Kannur Beach House is an amazing place to stay, great food and really nice rooms. The host family who runs the place is so warm and welcoming. And they make sure everything's good, so you can be totally relaxed and enjoy your stay. The people in this place is everything, they made me feel like I belonged there, that I was home. We also had some really good conversations. Along with taking a walk at the beautiful beaches, watching the sunsets, enjoying the view from your room or the hammocks with some coconut at your side. This place is really something special!
Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 school age kids) is on a sabbatical / world schooling year and we stayed with Rosi and Nazir for 10 amazing nights in Jan 2020. We were first timers and met other guests who have come back again and again, and we now understand why. It’s an incredible location in a small village in northern Kerala, with pristine, empty beaches and nearby coves. Well worth the 5-6 hour train ride north from Kochi (there is also an airport in Kannur). Homemade breakfasts and dinners are superb, healthy buffets with a variety of traditional and creative dishes. Every meal felt like a special occasion. We stayed in a simple, cozy room on the top floor with a double bed, single bed & attached bathroom about 15 meters behind the front rooms, with sea & sunset views from the balcony. They provided us with an extra cot & mattress which worked well for our family. The shaded community dining table was great for us to do art, write, read, etc during the hot afternoons. Rosi gave us great suggestions for a yoga teacher, Theyyam, the Loknath handloom weaving center, and a visit with the local gold/silversmith. The morning birds are amazing in the backwaters- do try out the canoe with homemade paddle. We also got great tips for the next leg of our journey. Feeling so grateful to Rosi and Nazir and their lovely & diligent staff for treating us like family. Our kids say they give Kannur Beach House 100 out of 5 stars!…
