Detailed Reviews
Me and my family had stayed for 8 days a perfect 2bhk apartment with well equipped furnished flats, power backup, proper and polite staff which will help you in all types of transport and issues inside the apartment.
The owner of the apartment was friendly and helped us in getting all the amenities needed for residing there.
Staff are team of four who had helped us in making the time in living in Malgudi lively...
Thanks Malgudi Holidays and it's team for a perfect stay ....

Lovely place, in traditional kerala style. The homestay is located in a very quiet environment and near the beach. Rooms are excellent, with garden view. You can even have a living room and kitchen included. The manager is very helpful.

I stayed at Malgudi for one month. My single bed room was spacious and spottless, it had a big wardrobe and clean bathroom, but as experienced with the majority of places I stayed at, the shower floods the entire bathroom, simply because they don't have shower cubicles. The toilet seat was also missing and I found it in the kitchen cupboard. I didn't mind, although knowing the helpful staff, they would have fixed it immediately had I brought it to their attention.
The kitchen which was shared with my next door neighbour could have been cleaner and better equipped. I got the impression that the fridge had not been cleaned for a while. Checking the cooking utensils, I noticed that a pot handle was broken off, there was just one fork, two spoons, a few more pots and plastic ware, but not enough for three people to share (one single & double room next door). I bought my own utensils in the shop across Greens supermarket in the City Centre.
Malgudi is situated in a lovely residential neighbourhood and I felt safe at all times. It is perfectly located between the town and beach. If your are looking for accommodation along the beach, you should seriously consider the long distance you need to cover just to reach the market, shops and restaurants. Malgudi is only a 10 mins walk away from the beach.
Guests can use the washing machine on the rooftop (cold wash only, washing powder provided). There is plenty of space to dry the clothes, either on the rooftop or in the common area of the apartments. From the roof, you can also watch the kites and big bats that come out as the sun sets.
Cleaning is done only when requested and you need to leave the key at the reception. Guests can use the internet at the reception. You also get toilet paper at the reception.
The staff were wonderful and very helpful at all times. I owe Nissan a lot, he took great care of his guests with so much dedication. You should know that the caretaker, the older guy who you would most likely catch with towel around his hip and toothbrush in his mouth, speaks a minimum of English but he makes an effort to talk to the guests. Refer to Sreelatha and Nissan if you need anything.
I recommend Sagar The Garden Restaurant as a good restaurant option, it's only 5 mins walk from Malgudi.

The name Malgudi Holidays is a catchy name. There is nothing great for the money and standards of a hotel .The walls of the rooms are damp. There is no proper Electricity supply and support system not there. There is a unbranded tv in the rooms and they don’t function. Total cost for the stay was four thousand plus per day with tea billing was for one hundred and ninty . I kept milk and curd in fridge and no news of them.

Beds as hard as a rock, had to make our own bed when we arrived, no hot water and when questioned "oh yes it has been out of order for months" filthy room, hotel in disrepair, no furniture, kitchen disgusting, fridge not working and never cleaned. Lights not functioning,,, fan had only one speed, full,,, dead rat at the front door, 15 minutes to the beach not 5 as stated in the marketing hype. Ordered a taxi to arrive at 07:00 and did not arrive untill 07:15!!! Resulting in missing rail connection
Staff friendly but not often there and a small note with a number to call if assistance required.
Don't bother to stay choose a diffrent hotel

We had confirmed twice before visiting the place. They said the booking is confirmed. On the day of arrival, I called to get some directions, they informed that I will have to wait Half an hour for the AC room that I had booked. The directions were vague. We managed to reach the place after lot of asking around. The approach road is narrow, barely can accomdate a small car. The parking was full. Then when we went inside, we saw that there were 3 families already waiting to be accomodated. The guys at receptionist neither helped us with arranging an alternate location nor even said sorry. Pathetic. Then it is not a Hotel. No facilities it is just an appartment. After 1 hour of waiting with a small kid, we made some search and phone calls and found an accomodation 10kms away ourselves. This is all during the peak Christmas holiday season. Malgudi holidays did not even offer compensation for the difference amount or to pay for the transport to different accomodation. The guy at the reception escaped from the place and did not even bother to take calls.

We stayed just one night here on our way from Alleppey to Bekal, so I cannot comment on the location. We were hopeful from the great reviews, but, sadly disappointed. We were provided a family-style suite with 2 bedrooms, lounge and kitchen. The place is in serious need of maintenance and a deep cleaning. There were holes in the walls, most of the light switches didn't function properly and the furnishing has seen better days. We didn't find the rooms to be modern. The bed was like a wooden board. The only redeeming factor is that the staff were very kind and helpful. They met us at the train-station on arrival to arrange rickshaws for us and helped us to order food for delivery, which was great after a long journey on the train. Very nice staff, but in need of a lot of improvements to get it up to an acceptable standard.

Well I am quite smitten by the place and so writing this review just after returning from Malgudi Holidays. I stayed in Malgudi for 2 nights with my family and everything about the place was above expectation for us. It was a last minute decision to visit Kannur and I saw the mixed reviews here. Still I decided to go with my gut feeling and visit this place. From the time we made the enquiry call, it was smooth. We inform them we will be driving and would reach late. We reached around 10 at night and were struggling to locate the place in a sleepy town. But one call and help was there in 5 mins with the form of Akash, the one man army of the place. Akash, if you are reading this buddy... a BIG Thank You from us. From arranging hot food late night to help with little details of the trips, he is the guy to go. Yes the place needs little maintenance. But 100% for hospitality. Definitely visiting again. If you are looking for luxury vacation, this is not your place. But if you are looking for homely hospitality give it a try.

I wanted to move out of the other resort to this place for good and as always read reviews and saw pics on internet and we decided to go - It was off season and there were no one else in the hotel - the owner boy was kind enuf to direct us to the hotel and when failed he personally came down to where we were and asked us to follow him - No one to help with your luggage - it was raining and they didnt have an umbrella - AC rooms were worst than the normal rooms - again, obnoxious rooms - bad bathrooms - Bed and pillow were not good or comfortable - When asked for quilts we were given very thin linens that is like, wat?? are you serious?? if you do not operate or not ready to operate or if you are not fully functional during off season, please do not allow guests to stay. We were forced to pay first even before you enter the rooms, that is OK - please provide with good bed and breakfast: that is all your guests ask you for - and of course, good bathrooms - First thing I did, morning 7, booked a taxi to Mysore and off we were at 9AM - couldnt stay longer - you cannot term this as a hotel or a home stay or whatever - I am not sure what was wrong at this time of the year, but the way I looked at it I wouldnt recommend anyone this hotel - This is located in a residential area, calm and it is a bit too off the main road.
