There are not that many hotels in the this area so choice is limited. However we managed to get a night booked into the cuilfail whilst passing through. The building is quite old and although some work has been carried out it still looks like it is worn out and tired. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and showed...

The Cuilfail is a lovely old building with character both inside and out. My room was roomy, clean and with pleasant views from the window. However the decor throughout was very old fashioned and in my room it was an even more bizarre mix of dated furniture seemingly thrown together and quite random. Very bizarre. However, I must point out...

Dropped in to check out before we went for a meal; glad we did as it just looks and feels awful. It was 6.30pm, so eating time. Not a table set up, no menus to be seen, the blackboard that I assume was for specials only had sweets on it! Oh, and nobody asked us if wanted to eat. Asked...

Staying at nearby timeshare Melfort Village. Restaurant on site closed until new operators can be found so decided to try nearest place for food. Should have driven a bit further!!! Barmaid friendly , bar fine with fire on, chatty local - that's the positives Ordered fish cake starter- badly over deep fried- hubby had cheese soufflé - still cold in...

We ate in the lovely old bar here, which was welcoming just because of its log burner and cosy feel. The food was good without being OTT. OK, the hotel could maybe use an update, but we were made welcome.

Called in afternoon to enquire about meals in the evening, shown menu all fine. Went back at 7p.m to eat only to be told we should have booked (3 people in bar eating!) and they could not provide any food. Therefore short review as we didn't get the chance to eat!

We didn't spend the night at this hotel, but stopped for lunch in their pub. Fantastic ambiance and delicious pub food. The interiors reminded me of the famous Drover's Inn but not as creepy and definitely much more authentic (The Drover's Inn is mobbed with tourists). If you're driving between Oban and Kilmartin Glen (go to see the stones), this...

This hotel is not brand new.Its an old hotel, may be in need of a lick of paint. But for me its a lovely old fashioned family run hotel. The people who run the hotel could not do enough for you,the food was great and the mix of tourists and locals made for a lovely weekend. The location was perfect for touring the local...

I am at a loss to understand how some reviewers criticize anything that is not brand new and hospital sterile. This is an old property and offers exactly what any lovers of traditional pubs would expect. Earlier I had called at a nearby hotel which shall be nameless where Lucy the dog and I were brusquely turned away on the...
