Just back from 2 night stay at Melfort House. Beautiful old country house, lovely room, garden views, spacious, and fishy wallpaper. Excellent breakfast of fresh fruit salad and yoghurt then full breakfast in just right proportions. Dining room looking over the loch. Perfect.

We spent a night here after a week at Melfort Village. This is a small hotel with the personal touch. The welcome was warm, room was fantastic and the breakfast was beautiful. The house and grounds are lovely too. I would highly recommend the Melfort House Hotel for somewhere special and different.

We have stayed in Melfort House previously and enjoyed its tranquility. We have a timeshare at the nearby Melfort Club, and as their restaurant (The Shower of Herring) is currently closed as they cannot recruit a chef, we took the opportunity to have dinner in Melfort House one evening during our stay. Matthew is providing evening meals on a limited...

We had a one night stay. It was a lovely Comfortable stay with a really nice breakfast with quality ingredient. Good quality furnishing and crockery, towels were a little hard for me but all very clean(a few minutes in tumble dryer would help). Would stay again if in the area. The house is in a perfect location with views of the...

We were made to feel so at home that we could easily have spent more than a night here. The house is lovely, in a superb quiet spot near Loch Melfort. Matthew was very welcoming and helpful. The room was warm and comfortable and beautifully furnished - as was the sitting room. Sitting in a comfy sofa by the fire,...

As all the other reviews say, the location is stunning and the furnishings so comfortable. However, for the three nights of our stay Matthew and his wife were away, having left a charming couple from New Zealand in charge. We did not know Matthew would not be there until a few days before our arrival. Consequently there was no dinner...

We were staying next door at Melfort Village which had an unexpectedly shut restaurant. Advised to try the adjacent Melfort House, we had an outstanding evening meal with a bottle of Barolo supplied by ourselves (no house licence). Suffice it to say we had a novel and very tasty squash and coconut oil, very fresh mackerel fish course (straight from...

Melfort House is in such a beautiful part of the country. The scenery here is spectacular. The views from the house are mind numbingly beautiful, peaceful to the point of distraction. If you want to wind down and get away from life's stresses and strains this house will not disappoint you. We were welcomed by Matthew with a pot of...

Stayed again in our favourite west coast stop over. As always the welcome was warm as were the scones for afternoon tea. Mother in law adored her birthday treat as well as the beautiful gardens around the house and at local Arduaine Gardens. Will be back again very soon , thanks JM

Definitely one of the best places we stayed on our 5 week Land's End to John O'Groats trip. We stayed for one night in the incredibly beautiful Hill Room which has stunning views over the picturesque hills - a vast room with a huge, very comfortable bed, a lovely big en suite bathroom and everything you could want including a...
