If you can’t run a hospitality business properly, then don’t get into it! I came here with my family for Xmas and it is the greatest disservice we did to ourselves. Rooms - no hot water. The shower in one of the rooms was not working. They were also bug infested - all sorts of crawling and flying insects. Food - terrible!!! No variety and the portions were a serious joke! On Xmas day, dinner was served at 9.45 PM. Mind you, there were kids. We had to complain since we were fed up! After the long wait the food was in terribly small portions, wasn’t at all enough for everyone, not to mention some of it was undercooked. Service - underwhelming save for one lady called Esther who tried to salvage the situation. The security guard had also refused to let my cousin park inside& demanded that she parks her car outside the gate & walk all the way to the reception to get “clearance” to allow her get in. I’d honestly never come back here again& wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Whoever used to own this formally lovely lodge, has fallen asleep at the wheel. The hotel was being run by a bunch of teenagers - the males were drunk by 18:00. Ann, was the only staff member who took her job seriously and tried to assist my group. They did not have dinner options which is a problem when your lodge is far from town. The gate was left wide open, creating a security issue. In addition to the larger problems of poor security and disengaged staff, the rooms were in disrepair. Some were missing bedsheets, other towels. Mine had dead bugs on the wall. The bedsheets are torn. Most of us were awaken by ants in the middle of the night in our beds. This place needs a serious reinvestment or it will be out of business by next year.

A place to rejuvenate and relax. A place away from the city yet not so far.. The drive to the place is in itself therapeutic. It is also very accessible from the main road; like 200m only. View of the Sunset is amazing

Arrived just before the rain and quickly set up the tents in a lovely grassy area of the lodge, near where the vehicles parked and mess tent was. There is a to a superb and clean swimming pool, even warmish, and the changing rooms, showers and loos, used by campers, were great. I have no idea what the rooms are like but having read the other reviews, I do wonder just what it is that modern travelers expect from these quasi tourist "bush" lodges. For me, a clean room, a comfortable bed, basic food , and I'm there. WE had a bonus here - a swimming pool! and beautiful quite surroundings!. AND in my own tent To me, If you want / need WiFi, TV, etc - STAY in the city!!, you don't belong in the wilds of Africa . Oh yes, one other thing - IF you must keep in contact with all and sundry, get a thing called a CELL PHONE - Kenya has a superb network, and you can even buy something called DATA - I'm told you might even be able to send everybody back home "selfies" of you roughing it in "THE BUSH". Staff were helpful, there is nice bar, and even electricity that evening. If I were to criticize anything it might be the cost for the camping. At 1200/= pp it's higher than many other sites else where in Kenya. ( Except National Park sites which I consider a rip off).
