Property's Favourite Review
We stayed at Abisko Guesthouse for couple days - me, my wife and our 2yo daugher - while making one-day treks around Abisko National Park. The place is great, it had anything we needed, including well-equipped kitchen, eating area and necessary facilities. Whole place is not of the highest standard, but more what you would expect when looking for a "trekking base" - just what we needed. The service stuff were very nice and helpful, giving advises about routes, places to go etc. Also they saved our life when we found out the only Abisko supermarket doesn't have any diapers :D Very kind lady from the stuff said she will be visiting Kiruna the next day and she bought them for us. We have a tradition of visiting Abisko every four years, and while earlier we were using tents, now we are sure to stay at Abisko Guesthouse on our next visits!

We’re a group of 4, we stayed here 3 nights hoping to see the Northern Lights unfortunately missed out by 1 night. The accommodation here is fantastic, rooms reasonable size, staff nice and helpful, plenty of shared showers and toilets to use, nice and clean plus the kitchen and shared lounge room good. WiFi was also good. The free use of clothing for the cold was also great made it so much easier. If back in Sweden to catch the Northern Lights I’ll definitely stay here again.

I had travelled from Stockholm to Abisko with my husband and 3 year old kid and stayed at Abisko Guesthouse from 18-20 Nov. We were supposed to travel from 28-30 Oct, but due to foggy conditions we were unable to travel and flight were rescheduled to Nov. Rasa, the owner, was very helpful in arranging the accommodation and airport transfer on new dates and even offered us bigger private room. The stay was amazing and we really enjoyed the view from the apartment. We had also booked Aurora Chasing by Car activity and it was wonderful experience with our guide cum photographer Ratchata. She was very hospitable and kind to click pictures for us along with beautiful display of Aurora. Best part was warm lingonberry juice and chocolates under the dancing northern lights. The winter clothes “overalls” provided for free by Abisko Guesthouse were extremely useful and made our lights chasing experience comfortable. Lastly, our interaction with Klas, the other owner, was quite warm and interesting. He offered good insights on foggy conditions in Abisko and was even kind to cancel our bookings/process refund for Aurora Photography tour due to I’ll health of my kid. I’ll definitely recommend this place to stay when in Abisko especially for a family.

The economy room without window I booked is part of an apartment and the apartment has 2 rooms. It is equipped with a shared kitchen, dining space, bathroom, toilet, and living room. It was not fully booked so I didn't need to share the other bunk bed with others. The room is sufficient if you are spending most of the time outside, nevertheless, the shared area in the apartment is pretty spacious. A very cozy place to stay, the apartment I stayed in enjoys a nice view from the dining room. I love that heater worked very well which can keep you warm all the time, and is super user-friendly. The location is perfect, it is near the train station and you can reach it easily. The activities provided are very well organised and worth the value as well. Some of the tours even provide you with a DSLR camera (remember to bring your own SD card!) so that you can record your precious time and superb scenery. Although it's only an entry-level camera, it did saved my life as my own camera was not working well. The guides are well-equipped with the knowledge of aurora and the places we visit, and also could provide tips for photography. I asked many questions before the trip and they answered them with their best, which helped me a lot with the trip planning. And the reception opens from 9-13 and 14-18, you could approach them easily as it opens quite long compared to some other accommodations. Truly appreciate all the patience and help from the team Abisko Guesthouse and Activities, hope to revisit in the future to explore more of Abisko.

Booked a room in a 3BR with sauna apartment, 13th-16th Nov. Cozy place to return to after every activity. My room had a window and balcony - you can have your morning hot drink with the mountains across you and the lake on your left. It was a great spot! I love sitting there in the early mornings, meditate and just take in the serenity of the place. It’s close to Abisko Östra Station and there’s a nearby supermarket too. There’s a full kitchen in the apartment so you can cook. They also have tours and transfers available for their guests. It was the best place to stay in Abisko.

We are from Costa Rica and want to see some Northern Lights and experience the Artic Circle. After some research over the Internet we find the Abisko Guesthouse and make a reservation. Rasa and Klas were extremely helpful and easy going. We rent a private apartment and was fully equip. Also, we reserved some tours with them and the experience was phenomenal. Did the Aurora photo tour and Felipe help us take some great photos.

So we stayed at this place for 3 nights and 4 days, we had booked 2 apartments as we were a group of 3 families and 3 kids, I was surprised to see the cleanliness in the apartments, it was 10/10, the people running the place are super friendly and super helpful. They help you book activities like Aurora watching. There was a fully equipped and functional kitchen in the apartments and even if you book a single room you will have access to a kitchen to cook your food. This is a highly recommended place to stay if you are planning a trip to Abisko.

I was a single traveler, and had a private room with a bunk bed. Room was basic and small with about 1 meter of space between bed and wall. I used the top bunk for storage. As I spent a lot of time outside, this was not really an issue. The entire accommodation building well heated. Kitchen has all the needed equipment, but can get crowded at peak times. Nearby supermarket has all the basics for a few days of cooking. Toilets and showers are shared and were good, and sufficient units were available. So no need to wait. I spent 3 nights there. Did not see any lights on the first night, but on the second and third night, we were extremely lucky that the solar activities was high, and got to see one of the most spectacular auroras in recent months or even years. Despite being touted as the location with very little cloud cover, it was cloudy at times, and auroras can sometimes be observed trying to break through the cloud cover. The guesthouse organizes tours. The great sightings I had on the two days were both observed right outside the guesthouse itself, without needing to travel further into the wilderness. So, in my case, extra tours to see the lights were not necessary. Having said that I had booked the BBQ and car chasing tour, which in hind sight were not necessary in my case. Of the two, I preferred the BBQ which also incudes driving out by car, especially since their prices were similar. My recommendation will be to book the evening tours on the day itself, rather than pre-booking much earlier. Overall, as far as the guesthouse is concerned, it was good value and comfortable with everything you need. The village is pleasant and beautiful with great views of the mountains and lake. They also provide thermal coveralls if you need additional layers. As for the aurora sighting, it will depend on your luck. Probability is definitely high, and will be better the more days you spend here.

We were 5 people and booked a two bedroom apartment. The place was great, rooms were ok with one super big with a couch. Living room and kitchen together were ok with a couch, tv and dining table. Kitchen was very well equipped. Shower was very small but good temperature and pressure. Beds were ok with warm comforters and ok pillows. Only downside is that this (rooms 32 and 33) were not on the main hostel area but around 100 mts away, so we didn’t quite interact with other guests but worked really well and we were very happy. Price was very good. And best benefit was access to winter clothing and particularly boots free of charge. There is a huge storage with multiple sizes, very useful. Hostel is 2 minutes walk from the supermarket and right at the start of the road that goes down to the lake. Klas was super helpful, explaining about the area and offering help for trekking trails. We meet another woman that was not so helpful but still nice. And a younger girl that was very willing to help though she was new and didn’t have a lot of info she did her best and we appreciated that very much. We did a tour with Robbin (or Robbie, no clue). He was a great guy, super helpful and sharing his experience, we shared a great night.
