as far as we saw it is a fixed program of four tribes. do not matter if you have more time. since we arrived early afternoon and had half day ..they didn't have what to show us but only to be on the boat...to point for us on the tribes that we will see tomorrow and to talk...this is not...

Thank-you for taking the time to give feedback on your stay at Karawari Lodge. We are pleased that you found the lodge unique and the view fantastic. A stay at Karawari Lodge is often cited as the highlight of a PNG trip. We are surprised that the touring program did not meet your expectations. Much effort goes into providing guests...

Perched high on the banks of the Karawari River, the Karawari Lodge has its charm but you will have to make some allowances for its remote location. The main lodge has its wall embellished with masks and carvings, many of them for sale but few of them small enough to fit into your charter aircraft weight allowance. It is modelled...

Karawari Lodge is so remote that it is hard to believe it is even there! This lodge is set on a beautiful spot above the Karawari River. First, we took a small plane ride, landing at a grass airstrip, then took a short boat trip to the lodge. It does get quite hot there and with the humidity it can...

Staying at the Karawari Lodge was a great experience. It was fun to arrive in a small bush plane and utilize a boat to get to the lodge. Comfort was outstanding when you realize how remote the place is. The guide Paul was so knowledgeable and helpful and we learned so much about life of the local tribes in this...

We arrived from Rondon Ridge, Mt Hagen, 24 hours after we'd planned owing to bad weather. We were not given any clear communication nor comfort that the tours we'd paid for would go ahead, so we arrived wondering whether we were getting our monies worth. Considering the costs involved, that was not a good feeling! Upon arrival at Karawari, however,...

Our guide at the Karawari Lodge was Paul. He greeted us right off our plane and brought us back 2 days later and was rarely without us. He gave us a great education on the tribes, traditions and ways of the people. We traveled by boat, as this is the only means of transportation (no roads) and visited a number...

When I arrived to check in, the generator was not working which resulted in no air conditioning, ltd lighting, etc; however, the staff worked and worked to get it going and finally, it worked. The staff comes from the local village and they even provide entertainment if requested. They have an outstanding band and the bartender, Elisha, is wonderful. The...

Oh puhleeease to the folks complaining about humidity and no fans. . . stay home! Karawari Lodge is set high above the Sepik River with an absolutely stunning view of the valley. Transport in the 4x4 is delightfully memorable. Pet hornbill Johnny loves shoelaces on hiking boots. Manager Augus shared an enormous wealth of knowledge about tribal cultures, lodge artifacts...

After flying in to a grass airstrip, taking a boat along the river and a jolting 4WD up a steep, muddy track you'll arrive at Karawari Lodge. It really is spectacular, set up on a ridge with some cracking views from the main Lodge and from the cabins. As for the location, it is very special. Our group was small...

OK, so if you are after five star luxury, then you need to keep looking. But then if you are after five star luxury, what are you doing in PNG? And the Sepik? Karawari is like being in the TV series Lost, or Robinson Crusoe. Rustic comfortable rooms with ceiling fans and mosquito nets. A balcony off the restaurant to...
