We stayed her for two nights for a walking break. We had a comfortable room in the annexe with a large en suite. The food on our first night in The Bistro was excellent with the exception of overdone chips. Breakfast very good but very slow service. We met up with our group of walking friends (24 - see other...

I, too, was part of the large party that ate at the Charles Cotton on Tuesday evening. The scallops starter consisted of 2 small, dried out scallops on a tiny portion of greens. The scallops had been overcooked & left to stand. My main course of Braised Derbyshire Beef was dry with no gravy, the carrots & mange tout were...

Stayed at the Charles Cotton Hotel in the sleepy little village of Hartington for three nights recently (with a Travelzoo offer). Our room was smaller than we'd expected (as we'd been upgraded to a Superior Room we thought it would be bigger), but this wasn't a problem. The room was clean and quiet and had everything we needed, but could...

I had a starter of scallops which was expensive and when it arrived there were 2 tiny scallops on a bed of leaves and everything else did not appear as described. My main course was fresh fish 'Catch of the Day' which arrived in the...

Can only comment on our experience of lunch midweek. Beer, wine and food mediocre. Webpage Menu prices need updating as it is more expensive that advertised by a couple of pounds on most items. Lunch time Bistro menu Ribeye Steak £19.95. Blue Hartington Burger was dry and came minus onion rings, homemade steak pie nothing to write home about. Dining...

Stayed here for one night on recent trip to area. Our room was in the annex and was fine, comfortable bed, good en-suite, heating was on, full size mirror, decent bed side lighting and had external key pad locking to annex plus key to actual room, ideal as we were meeting friends further away so no problem arriving back late. Wifi...

We chose this hotel as it is dog friendly, and they did not disappoint. We arrange through Pets-pyjamas. The dog friendly rooms are separate to the main building which works very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and choice of Ales also very good. We had an issue with the main lights in...
