From the lobby to the bar, from the michelin-star featured restaurants, Nobu Matsuhisa and Giorgio Locatelli, to your personal cascading plunge-pool, every room offers a 180° view of the sea. Nestled in a convenient and picturesque setting, Amara hotel garners acclaim for its immaculate cleanliness and outstanding service, with staff members who go above and beyond. The rooms are not only stylish and spacious but also offer breathtaking sea views, although some guests have noted construction noise.
The hotel's luxurious amenities, including exquisite dining options, a top-notch spa, and beautiful pools, are highly praised, contributing to the hotel's sophisticated and upscale atmosphere. While the dining comes with a high price tag, many guests feel the overall experience offers good value.

Detailed Reviews
Let me start by saying the hotel you see online and in all the pictures is exactly what you get. In fact possibly the photos do not do it justice. The architecture, the pool lighting in the evening, the view are all spectacular. We stayed in a junior suite, it had the most wonderful L shaped balcony which meant we had a fantastic panoramic view of the med and the hotel pools. From what I could see I don't think any room would be a disappointment. Our room was wonderful, absolutely huge with the added advantage of 2 bathrooms, 3 sinks, 2 showers and 2 toilets. There were so many buttons and automated features, lighting, curtains, blinds a steam room... not sure we rally made full advantage of everything. The free soft drink mini bar was really a lovely addition and the hotel complied with my request for all sugar free drinks which we really appreciated. There is one thing missing in this room and that is a vanity mirror positioned where the plugs are for the hair drying. We found a work around by sitting on the bed ad using the full length mirror in the wardrobe. With so many great features in this room, you'd expect this to be thought through better.
The pools are stunning, but the adult one is not strictly adult and not policed at all. It's difficult for them as it is attached to the kids pool so children do migrate across. Whilst it didn't really bother us that children were playing in the pool I can see how frustrating it may be for guests if the expectations is that there is an adult only pool. Now onto a major hotel design flaw and that the umbrellas. Why you'd concrete them into the ground and have no way to move them to provide some shade is beyond on me. A number of guests were using their towels draped over the front of their umbrella to provided a much needed rest bite from the sun. Also on the sunbeds, there are simply not enough for a hotel this size which is why people are reserving sunbeds at 6:30 am. So many wanting to sit around the pools meaning if you dont get up early you are faced with either the beach or the grass areas, not ideal when the pool setting is so stunning. They did change the reserving of sunbeds to 8:00 whilst we were there, which was better but still people are going to reserve beds as they have to to get a decent spot, again so few beds.
The staff were generally friendly and helpful but not consistent enough amongst all employees. We particularly want to mention, Andy and Agata at breakfast, who literally always had a smile on and couldn't do enough for us. All the pool staff were efficient and seemed well organised. They all worked so hard, it seemed they were a little understaffed as they were literally running around from one guest to another and the cleaning poolside was a little remise.
Also I must mention Alex at

I'm going to write a review that is both hard and easy.. it's hard because I'm going to run out of superlatives to describe the outstanding 6-star luxury thought driven hotel. Attention to micro detail is magnified in every part and all aspects of the hotel.Â
One of the smallest attention to detail is found in the bathroom toilet where a chrome toilet brush is cleverly hidden into a recess cut into the wall. seriously who thought about such great attention to detail?!
It is a cross between an Oriental Hotel found in Hong Kong and and the refinements of a European hotel. From the moment you drive down towards the hotel main entrance you are greeted by magnificent water paths.. It's luxury personified.Â
Water sports are a short walk down along the beach and a special shout out the water ski boat driver Elias who has the patience of a Saint and will get anyone up and skiing! He's a super star! He's a special man.
If I am going to be picky then I need to point out the doors to each hotel room are sound proofed but feel like bomb proof as they are very heavy to open, super heavy almost impossible to open and the annoying card access to the lift doesn't always work correctly rendering your floor access useless. No toilets close to the beach or pool is irritating.but hey you can't get everything 100% perfect! My biggest regret is that I didn't stay longer to enjoy the magnificent Spa the 2 infinity pools and the stunning views. If there was a 6 star option I'd give it 6 stars. If you want a luxury break this is the place.

The Amara Hotel describes itself as an everlasting journey built to offer a living panoramic vision that owns the horizon and that is exactly what you wish your stay to be. You will not want to leave.
Upon arrival to the hotel you are greeted with warm smiles and friendly faces to welcome you into the peaceful bliss of the hotel. The check-in process was straightforward and knowledgeable and you receive a great understanding of the hotel as if you have been there for weeks.
When walking into your room, you will discover purity, calm and solemn mixed with the perfect view of the Cyprus Coastline. Every little detail has been carefully planned and successfully executed in the hotel including the personalised welcome message on your TV. All the Molten Brown Amenities are rife throughout the room and with up to date acknowledgment of the current pandemic with amenities for washing hands and keeping safe also good to note. The complimentary mini bar is certainly welcome with perfect refreshments needed from the hot Cyprus sun. Robes, slippers and towels and all laid out in the room. The comfort of the bed was second to none and you will feel like you are in your home away from home.
When considering an evening meal, take a trip to the Lobby Bar for an early evening drink and nibbles whilst watching the Cyprus sunset which then lead into the number of different options available for evening dining. Your are not short of options across the hotel but a must try is the Matsuhisa restaurant, run by renowned Nobu chef Matsuhisa. We tried the Teriyaki chicken, cucumber Maki and tempura broccoli and it was divine...so nice so, we went back again the second and final night of our stay. The service was exceptional and always attentive to our needs at dinner.
Breakfast in the all day dining room offer an incredible spread of hot and cold food options, bakery options, exotic fruit and the chance to have a full English breakfast with a side of pancakes or waffles. If you then still have space, try one of the chefs specially cooked omelettes/scrambled egg with choice of additions. All to be enjoyed on the balcony with more views of the coast.
The pool and the pool bar are exquisite parts of the hotel and offer an exceptionally serene setting to enjoy the day with access to lovely food and drinks all day. The infinity pool is a lovely touch to add to the great view out to the coast and every guest has access to their own, comfortable sun lounger.
Security wise, you will feel very safe in the hotel with coded gates across all the entrances of the hotel.
Upon check out, you will continuously be met with smiles as you, unfortunately, have to leave and The Amara is certainly a hotel you should consider visiting if you have the chance.

I stayed at the Amara for a week in early October 20. This is probably my favourite hotel I have ever stayed at. The design is amazing, and the pool area, especially when viewing it from the front as you walk on the stone path is amazing. The water is really clean but it did seem a little cold for this time of year. The service from the staff was great and they seemed happy and were helpful. Breakfast was good.
Now some big improvements.
When we entered the hotel, there was nobody to greet us or help us with our luggage. Every so often during our stay we saw what appeared to be a bellboy but it was rare. We actually missed the reception area because it's hidden away on your right. We then had to find the room ourselves through the many corridors.
The mini-bar wasn't re-stocked everyday. Some days it was, some days it wasn't. Likewise, some days the coffee pods were replaced, some days they weren't. Some days, we had a shower before we went to dinner and the turn-down service came to replace our towels, other days they took the wet towels and only replaced one. Little things like that.
On arrival, we were greeted with a bowl of fruit and sweets/syrup in the room. Could the fruit be replaced everyday? The jar of empty sweets/leftover syrup was left sitting there all week.
Can sunbeds be allocated to guests for their whole stay? Bit ridiculous that in 2020, in a hotel of this standard, guests are having to wake up early or do that before breakfast scramble to get a sunlounger around the pool. The hotel wasn't full occupancy by any mean, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of beds. How about removing those visitor/coffee/lounger beds behind the pool bar and putting canopy daybeds or extra sun beds because on a number of occasions we had to go down to the beach area for a bed and we wanted to be by the pool.
One afternoon there was a birthday party in Locatelli and there was some gentle and light live Italian style music. This gave the pool area some atmosphere and it would be nice to have some relaxing mediterranean Italian/Spanish style music around the pool.
Great stay. Great guests. Rarely have I felt this standard of service and luxury in Cyprus and it felt like we weren't in Cyprus due to the professionalism and quality of the service, guests and staff.
Bit expensive and the pool menu leaves a lot to be desired i.e very small style snacks at very expensive prices but I'll be visiting again and I'd stay again if I can get a good deal.

We stayed here for my husband's birthday and WoW what a place. From check-in to check-out we felt more like royalties. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We stayed here on a half board basis and had the options of eating on different restaurants including the Nobu at no extra cost. This is top-notch luxury at its best. I have stayed in so many 5 star hotels around the world but I rate this amongst the best. From food to the whole experience we were very impressed. We also made use of the spa and the gym which were both awesome and an amazing experience. the rooms were spacious and cleaned twivce a day and toiletries replenished at the same time. We are already considering another stay in December.

We were looking for a safe, luxury stay for us and our 8 month old baby. Cyprus appealed due to the low case numbers and the hotel in particular looked stunning in terms of the room size for a junior suite, the sea views, the choice of restaurants and pools and of course the spa.
As we were travelling with a baby, it was not completely relaxing all the time, but in the moment when we could, we felt very relaxed, using the hotel’s pools, spa and gym. The restaurants were very welcoming with our son, and the staff really went out of their way to make sure our room was all ready for our arrival.
A very special mention goes out to Persia, who really did help us to relax knowing that the room would have what we needed in it, and also it saved us having to bring as much with us.
The experience was fantastic, and a much needed break. We would highly recommend the hotel, it will not disappoint.

This hotel really is exceptional. So much thought has gone into the design and layout of the hotel from the moment you arrive and see the vast building which is imposing across the whole street. When you head downstairs and walk out into the pool area, the view is absolutely incredible as you view the first infinity pool and the sea beyond it. At this point, you know you're going to enjoy your stay here! But wait, it gets better: there is a second adult-only infinity pool below the first, and a third salt-water pool accessible from the spa. The rooms here are amazing. We stayed in a basic (deluxe) room and it was one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. A separate toilet, bath and shower with shutters that you could open and look out across the balcony as you lay in the bath. There is plenty of complimentary water, Nespresso and soft drinks which is replenished daily. The staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, a hotel of this standard does attract certain types of guest who seem to have no manners or respect for other people so do be aware of that. However, that is out of the hotel's control. You should also be prepared to pay for such a fabulous hotel: it is expensive and everything from the cost of water at the pool to having dinner in top-end restaurants means your wallet will really feel this. But if you're prepared for that, you won't be disappointed here. It's exceptional.

We stayed at the Amara with some friends for four days. The hotel was beautiful and the majority of the staff were friendly and attentive. I’d like to express what amazing service we received at Locatelli’s from all of the staff - in particular the manager who was exceptionally warm and made our dinner so lovely. The team at the Lobby Bar also were absolutely superb.
The hotel problematically offerers complimentary late check out service, meaning on arrival to the hotel...both my partner and I and our friends who arrived a day later had to wait for nearly an hour to be shown into our rooms.
Another gripe was the disgusting service we received from the sushi restaurant. We paid over £700 for a dinner for 4 and whilst there for two hours, received 2 drinks in that entire time, despite notifying numerous members of staff including the manager. The manager was incredibly rude and when we finally got him out, would only speak with my partner and not hear my complaints (lovely bit of sexism with dinner) he was not at all earnest or polite about resolving our concerns re. the service and begrudgingly offered us free dessert...we just left unsatisfied. I’d avoid this restaurant at all costs if you visit.

Arrived in October for a 10 day holiday as a couple. From the moment of arrival to the moment we left, All the staff could not do any more to help and make you feel special.
The checking in process easy, bags taken up, clean, stocked up room and beautifully decorated, very tastefully done.
Breakfast buffet, everything you would expect, beautifully presented.
Different Dining experience due to Covid. Buffet or a la carte for lunch. No buffet in the evening but 3 al la Carte restaurants. Japanese, fish and an Italian. Stunning food, different tastes which are amazing and the service again second to none! I won’t say any more as you will be spoilt rotten and I’ll leave it a surprise. I do like a buffet restaurant on holiday as the a la carte is so rich every night but understandable due to Covid.
Pool areas a good variety of choice to pick from. Pool side, grass, decked or sand take tour pick each areas are unique and beautifully set out. Although the sun brolly is cemented in but you crack on.
We did the jeep safari whilst there, visited a small town, waterfall on the mountain, a historic bridge, tasted a local mezze in a rural town, did some shopping and wine tasting...... speak to Maya she is the epicentre of this hotel. Her job is to make sure you are happy and I can truly say she is amazing at her job.
Small supermarket and bakery across the road. Small harbour with a restaurant on it but not much else there. A few bats along the stretch of road and beach locally. Venturing out we caught the bus 30 which took us to old port, new port, St. Andrews, lots of shops restaurants and nice things to see. I won’t spoil it go see for yourself. Bus is €1.50 each. Going further you can again catch the bus to my mall which has A lovely selection of shops and restaurants. Bus 30 is every 15 minutes. Can’t go wrong!
I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be spoiled and feel very special!

Superb room and excellent facilities coupled with very friendly and helpful staff combined to make our stay relaxing and us feeling just that bit special. Breakfast was as comprehensive as it gets, but not everything was as hot as it should have been. We learnt over the three days we were there to mainly eat our hot food from the freshly cooked station. Sadly, some of the evening meal food was also not up to the 5 star standard we were expecting. We were staying half board, and it was not fully explained to us when we checked in how the half board dinner system worked. The first night, we ate in the main restaurant. It was a big space and only five tables were being used. We ordered warm goats cheese salad, followed by grilled calamari. The salad was fine, but when they took it away our main course arrived immediately. When we started to eat it, it was cold. It had clearly been cooked in advance and left. After only a few minutes, the calamari was like rubber, and the rice was stone cold. We should have complained there and then, but like typical Brits we didn't. We just left it and told the waiter when he came to collect the plates. He was apologetic, but that's all. The following night was Valentine's night, and we were horrified to find that all three restaurants were fully booked for special menu dinners, mainly with non residents. Surely, we should have been told of the arrangements either when we booked, or at least a week or so before we arrived? For guests who hadn't booked, they put on a buffet in the breakfast room, but the food was average as buffets often are, and the food was again barely luke warm. However, we got it right on the third night. We booked for Locatelli's, the fine dining Italian restaurant. This was superb! The food and the attention to detail was simply magnificent! When we return to the Amara, we will know the system in advance, and make sure that we book to eat in either Locatelli's or Matsuhisa, the Japanese restaurant.
