Monday, 15th July 2019. We stayed at Hotel Ashish Deluxe for a night on our way from Bangalore to Mumbai as we were travelling with our pet and this was one of the few places that allowed dogs (extra charge of Rs. 400 for cleaning applicable). The booking process was hassle free and they even helped us postpone our stay dates by a few days without any extra charge. But that’s where the good part ends! We checked in after a long, 10-11 hr drive. The not so gentlemanly gentleman at the reception asked us for our IDs. We requested him to allow us to get to our room as we were laden with luggage and were trying to manage a slightly overwhelmed doggo; and that we would do so, fish out our IDs from our bag and hand them over to him within half an hour. He refused, albeit politely, saying he could not allow us to enter the room without first giving him the government mandated IDs. Fair enough! We complied. I gave him my PAN card and my husband emailed him his AADHAR copy. What happened next is just cringe worthy! This ‘gentleman’ looks at me and says “would you have another ID that shows your name after your marriage?”. To which I replied “No. Coz my name has not been changed after marriage”. To which he replies- “Then please show me your marriage license or a photograph from your marriage.” I couldn’t believe what was happening! In 2019…here I am standing in a lodge at 7 pm in the evening with this unknown, random guy demanding to see my very private and personal marriage documents and photos to prove my identity! Needless to say, I was furious! I demanded am explanation to which he says that this lodge was only for families and I needed to prove that I was indeed my husband’s wife as I was claiming and only then could he let us in! A heated argument ensued during which I fruitlessly tried to explain to this man that he can’t just cook up his own rules. The law demands that I show him a government approved photo ID, which I did, and that is enough. He kept saying “ma’am don’t get upset. This is our rule.” This went on for awhile until finally, having not been left with a choice, my husband showed him a photo on his phone from our wedding. I felt humiliated and violated! This was a first for me. Never before has my identity so strongly been questioned. Never before has my privacy so strongly been ignored. Never before have I been treated with such indignity. I would have walked out of there had I been alone. But we were in quaint little Kohlapur with extremely limited options at 7 pm (a late enough hour for a small town) with a doggo baby who was ill with motion sickness from a long journey. Well I’m never setting foot in this place again that’s for sure! And I only hope that those of you reading this don’t either. I also hope that the management of this place takes note and decides to mend their ways…though I seriously doubt it. #metoo #genderbias…
We visited this hotel in 2nd week of March 2019. We stayed in AC Super Deluxe Room. Hotel rooms were newly painted. Room was neat and OK with respect to cleanliness. Rooms are affordable for low budget travelers. Hotel is located in very busy and crowded are. Preferable for those looking for night stay. Very ideal for business trip. Manager Pramod and other support staff are good. Mr. Pramod helped us for planning my sight seeings and also helped even after our check out. Over all it was nice stay.
Writing this review on behalf of my family. It is centrally located near Central Bus Stand and walk-able distance from Station so very convenient for travelling. Rooms were neat. Beds were clean. Staff was courteous. Breakfast and meals are available at hotel. Good staying option if you are low on budget. Good option for families
The hotel is very budget friendly and has clean and neat rooms. The hospitality is up to the mark. Did not feel like going outside to eat so when ordered the food was delivered on time by the staff.the staff seems very polite too.the best part was it was very close to the railway station which cut down our travel time also made the travel easier and faster. Definitely recommended for short stay.
Great hospitality and well maintained hygiene. Totally suitable for family stays and also solo stay. Overall, I had the best experience with pocket friendly prices. Staff is very welcoming and polite. Easy access to bus stand and railway station.
Not much of a lavish place but serves the purpose. It's a decent hotel, with the basic needed amenities. The rooms are quite compact than the usual one but are well equipped with air conditioners and LCD screens. The washrooms are quite okayish but hygiene is well mentained. Rates are quite affordable.
One of the best hotel to stay in Kolhapur. Affordable and totally value for money. The staff is polite and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained and the service is satisfactory. Over all a nice experience.
