The Fern, Kolhapur, garners praise for offering travelers a delightful array of amenities, including delectable dining options and commendable service, though there's room for finesse in certain aspects. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel is celebrated for its easy access to attractions and essential services.
Guests consistently commend the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms, which contribute to the hotel's serene and inviting atmosphere. While the majority of guests find the rooms and overall experience to offer excellent value, some have suggested that the restaurant service could benefit from increased speed and efficiency.

Detailed Reviews
We planned a stopover during our visit to Goa at Kolhapur. This was the Property of Choice. We were here by 3pm and the checkin process was seamless since our booking was confirmed online. The rooms were well equipped, modern and spacious. Although the view was a concrete jungle. We ordered Room Service for dinner and the food quality was good and so was the quantity. The mattresses were descent and the aircon cooled well too. Next day, their Rain Shower in the bathroom was amazing with Good Pressure and Hot Water. Overall, no complaints.
Now for the negatives, we had High Tea included in our package and since we travelled a long distance by road, we were in the restaurant by 4pm sharp. We were asked to be seated since they were just starting. They served mixed pakodas which were half cooked. Even the tea we asked was served after 45 minutes. when we raised the issue, the floor executive was rude enough to say that it takes time since kitchen is on third floor. She went on to hold her own claiming we arrived at 4:30. We simply left our meal and visited the city for food.
Next day morning breakfast was nothing great. Nobody was really interested to attend to supervision of food quality.
Being a religious destination, I feel they should consider keeping an electric vehicle which can ferry their customers to the Temple. This will help reduce traffic and help devotees.

Dear Surya J, We appreciate you taking the time to give us your thorough feedback. We're delighted to hear that our booking process was seamless, rooms were to your liking, and you enjoyed our room service and rain shower. However, we're genuinely sorry to hear that your high tea experience was not up to par. Your feedback regarding the uncooked pakodas, slow service, and our staff's attitude is noted. Your suggestion about providing an electric vehicle service to the Temple for our guests is certainly one we'll look into. This could indeed be a beneficial service for our guests visiting the temple and could potentially help with traffic conditions. It?s through valuable feedback like yours that we can continuously work on improving our guests? experiences. We hope to have the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

We prefer Fern hotels over others mostly due to their competative tariff, courteous staff , great location, food preferences and making our stay comfortable.
This One at Kolhapur also justifies all above points to have a great stay.
The staff made every attempt to make our stay comfortable. Mainly kudos to the Valet Staff , house keeping and in room service staff who tried to serve us as expected.
Breakfast was having good choices with varieties.
Only improvement expected is on the Lunch and Dinner preparation , which would help to achieve the 5 Star rating for sure.
This is a recommended property for families.

The property is very good and so is the staff at this place.
I stayed here with my family on 5th and 6th April at room 518. While leaving i forgot to take along some of my belongings. The hotel staff, specialky Mr. Shashikant Kothawale dealt with the situation in a highly professional manner by informing me promptly about my belongongs left by me and got all my belongings sent out to me at my residence in Mumbai via courrier. I truely appreciate the sense of responsibility and such an honest behaviour displayed by Mr. Shadhikant and his team.
I wish them best of luck and great success. I would recommend this place to whoever is visiting Mahalaxmi temple and planning to stay nearby.

Family Trip : The Fern Kolhapur, a Four-Star Above Average Hotel
I stayed in The Fern, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, in Room No. 810 from 09/03/ to 12/03/2025. I booked the hotel online by calling a number given on the website.
The booking process was pleasant, as the reservation clerk lady (Rasika) was soft-spoken and helpful in offering rates and an appropriate room, etc., including agreeing to pick up from the airport for a price. The booking was smooth, very professional, the payment link worked well, and I paid in full in advance. I received a booking confirmation, which was comprehensively explained, no doubt or any question to ask. It looked like a very professional document.
As agreed, they picked up from the airport in a small sedan car. It was a pleasant check-in. They helped me reach luggage to my room.
The lobby area was functional no frills or no great interior to impress.
The double-bed, king-size bedroom of 300 sft. was comfortable. Everything in the room was just right. The AC- is excellently functioning. The bathroom was spacious and had an excellent shower head and shower area. The bath towels were very hard, and I did not use them. The toiletry supply was excellent. The tea/coffee arrangement was good. Housekeeping service was excellent in responding and replacing anything required, like water bottles, tea/coffee supplies, etc. The overall in-room comfort, including bed, pillows, and sheets, was much appreciable; even though fancy frills were not there, it is a simple interior. But one important missing point is: no luggage desk; we had to keep our suitcase on the floor only.
The breakfast was complimentary in the ground-floor restaurant area. The BF spread was quite elaborate, yet the authentic taste was missing. Like Idlis were hard, the Medu wada was worst (hard), the sambar had no South Indian taste, rather some strange taste. Overall, Breakfast was not tasty, and I was not happy.
The Exterior – is very poor as you enter the portico- exterior wall looks faded, rainwater leakage visible, no carpets in lobby area.
The staff's overall staff behaviour was courteous and helpful. For the cost of the room, it was not justification.

Overpriced and poor service!
My friend and I stayed for one night. We opted for 2 twin beds while booking but they gave us one king bed. We were tired from traveling and it was quite a roomy bed so we didn't bother complaining. Also, they are listing swimming pool under amenities, however it is under construction and not operational. The room was quite good but the food was below average.
The service at the bar is not great at all. The guy had no idea how to pour drinks. Also within a few minutes after the last call (11pm) they started hassling us about bar closing. I've stayed in many many hotels and last call always means the last order of drinks and then you are given time to finish your drinks and leave. Last call does not mean that you have to leave right at that moment. We explained this firmly so they stopped bothering us and we ended up leaving at 11:40 pm - so only 40 mins after the last call- meaning our demand was quite rational. Furthermore all drink pricing is for small peg, and there is no separate pricing for large or nip (quarter).
The breakfast buffet spread is okay but again taste is mediocre. Only sambhar and live counter utthappa/dosa taste was okay, rest everything else was quite lame. They did not even have filter coffee and only instant coffee was offered for breakfast.
All in all, it seems they are misleading guests with the Fern branding (which frankly is not what it used to be just until a few years ago) and promoting non-existent pool amenities while giving tasteless food and mediocre service so you end up feeling cheated.

We went for a holiday to Kolhapur and chose Veeksar the Fern after reading positive reviews and due to the newness of the hotel. Here is my review. First, the positives....
The location is excellent, just 4 kms off the highway. The hotel is hardly one year old and the entire infra is new. In fact, two upper floors are yet to be opened. We had booked a Winter Green Premium room for 4 nights which is reasonably spacious and well- appointed with many mirrors. The air-con controls work fabulously and immediately. The bed had a very soft mattress and on request, housekeeping (Minal was excellent) promptly provided us firm mattresses. Room cleaning every day was good. The bathroom is spacious and has a glass frontage to the room along with curtain. The shower gives you water with impressive force. The best feature of the room is the strong wi-fi with the router installed inside the room. Two bottles of complimentary mineral water were provided daily. The buffet breakfast has a modest menu, average taste and service is quick. A live egg/dosa counter is available. The hotel has its own parking in the basement with security.
Now for the negatives (only facts, no opinions). Toileteries in the room are limited to soap, shampoo and bath gel. No English newspapers were available either in the room or at reception. Some construction work would go on through the day on the floor above and we had to call reception and housekeeping many times every day to stop the noise after 9 pm. The room is not sound proof at all so noise from the lobby or the floor below can be heard. The lift from the lobby to the basement was shut on three of the four days that we stayed due to ‘kaam chalu aahe’. The TV would not work because the Tata Sky set top box was out of charge daily and we had to call housekeeping/reception every day to get it recharged. On Dec 30th this process took 1.5 hours – after many complaints the duty manager had to come to our room personally, along with the IT manager, to get this rectified. The restaurant would smell of smoke and fried oil every morning and they would switch the AC on only after we requested. In room dining has a limited menu and on enquiry, there were no local dishes available. The breakfast menu does not have any pastries or cakes or even coffee. However, coffee is available on request.
It is amazing to see how large hotels chains invest huge monies on building infra and facilities and hiring staff but forget the absolute basic about giving a good customer experience. How many stars do you think they deserve out of five?

Hotel is located on prime location. Room was clean. Car parking facility was good.
But service is too slow... We reached and checked in at 5.30 pm with hectic drive of full day but room was not ready. We got a key after half an hour. Room was clean but bathroom kit was incomplete. Only one towel and one small bottle of liquid soap was available in room.
They offered 20% discount coupon on food while check inn but at billing it not got accepted while check out. Means they are making foolish to their customers only to grow restaurant business. The person who handles billing in a day was very rude with no smile on face.
On check out day no luggage boy came to pick up the luggage even after requesting twice… reason they stated was less staff which is not acceptable at Five Star Hotel.
Overall average stay. Average stay and slow service as compared to Tariff they charged.

Complete avoid hotel. Reasons: A. Rigid & rude staff. B. Unhygienic room. C. Stale & cold breakfast D. Most of the items gets over in breakfast before time. 5. Shower water is very hard for hair. 6. In rooms serving portion is Xtra small which will not feed even child hunger. 7. Bouncers at reception that are really intimading.
Only silver lining: Shreyas in the restaurant for his prompt service.

Very good appointed rooms. 300 sq feet adequate for 3 people. Also good view outside of the windows. Regarding the washroom, although clean and good, the health faucet was not working properly. House keeping also needs to improve response times need to improve. Overall good and comfortable stay. Location wise also good. Will definitely recommend. Special mention to food server Pratiksha and the manager Mr. Mohite took extra care of us during our bread and dinner with them. Food is also tasty and well priced. Mutton thali was excellent with tasty tambda and pandhra rassa. Restaurant is recommended for all meals. Also special mention to the front desk mamger Rasika who gave us a good deal for our stay.

It's also great to know that our location met your expectations and that you'd recommend our hotel to others. Your commendable words for Pratiksha, Mr. Mohite, and Rasika are much appreciated, and we will certainly convey your praises to them. We're thrilled that the mutton thali was a highlight and that you found our food both tasty and reasonably priced. We've taken note of your feedback regarding the health faucet in the washroom and slower-than-desired response times from our housekeeping team. Your comments are crucial for us to address these issues and ensure that we consistently provide a seamless experience for our guests.
