To start with..No its not a resort. Its known for its lodging and boarding. Full marks for maintaining a property like this. Its tough to even think of constructing a property admist adverse enviromental conditions. But Mr.Dilip Deshpande seems to have a vision of bringing Amba Ghat on the map of tourism and is nearing success.

After much research , we zeroed on this property. It faces a tough competitions from its so called competitors, but be assured, the rooms and the services you get here are far more better than promised. No delusions or false impression, its exactly like they have promised on their website.

We had booked the suite, spacious, airy, comfortable,luxurious..!!!

Mr.Dilip Deshpande was generous enough to offer us a trip to kolhapur free of cost. Infact the day we landed at amba bus station, he personally escorted us in his car to the resort. He took good care of us. Suggested places to visit, arranged excursions for us.

The place Amba is nearly 65 kms from Kolhapur and in between kolhapur ratnagiri highway. You can take trips to Kolhapur,Panhala, ganpatipule, pavas, belgaum or even Goa from here.In local sightseeing, a must try...Safari on Jeep Roof, Swimming at manoli dam(With proper assitance), Visit to Amba Ghat for a breath taking sunset view, Vanabhojan (Lunch in the forest)

Food is good. Its a typical Maharashtrian fare. No Chinese,Punjabi,Gujrati,Mughlai or continental. Its hygienic and tasty...It won't upset your stomach.A must try..Thalipeeth and Zunka Bhakari!!

Apart from sightseeing...there is nothing much to do...One can get bored very easily. But when you have a dogs life in city...who can say no to the opulence of laziness. Travelling in groups is suggested for better time pass.

There are no markets, no doctors, no medical aid available nearby. For people with medical history, do have a prior check before visiting.

Thanks to Dilip kaka for a wonderful stay..!!

Vanashree Holiday Resort is an amazing place nestled is a small village of Amba on Kolhapur Ratnagiri Highway No.204 about 60 kms from Kolhapur.

A best place to visit in any season. but specially in monsoon its out of the world experience, with thick fog descending on the entire village making the feeling of "cutoff from the world " all the more predominant. I had visited in monsoon 2013

Again this year got a break from work in 2nd week of June 2014. visited the resort with wife and was pleasantly surprised by the weather.. even though monsoon had not set in... the weather here was cloudy n cool. the hospitality was amazing with with veg non-veg delicacies.

Mr. Deshpande the owner of the resort has really taken personal interest in making each room what it is today, be it a small family room or be it a big Suit which resembles nothing less that a 3 Star room. There is also room for group of 6-8 members.

Sight seeing is arranged on request with extra cost. The safari on Jeep roof is worth visiting.. meandering through the thick forest of Amba- Vishalgad road and a visit to pavankhind of Baji Prabhu Deshpande is absolutely not to be missed.

For additional help Mr. Krishna, Sandeep, Are always there.

10 out of 10 for this cosy resort

We stayed in Vanashree Resort on 1 May, 2015.
I start with saying - The most disapponting part is the denial of the room that we booked and got confirmation.

Place Description: 1 Rating
It's really not a resort, not even a hotel. It's just a small building constructed along NH204.

Reliability: 0 Rating
We booked Deluxe room for two days and paid 50% of the amount as instructed in the mail and got mail confirmation for the same by mail.
But when we went got there we were bluntly denied the Deluxe room and were offered Standard rooms and refund of the differential amount.
Since we were tired after a long journey in the Hot Summer we took that room and decided to stay.

Food: 2 Rating
We were hungry, so we ordered Tea and Snacks at around 5:30 PM but we were
served only Tea. I couldn't find any restaurants nearby for having snacks.
I stayed hungry till dinner which was at 9PM.
For Dinner only only Veg/Chicken Thali (Standard Meals) was served.
Taste was ok.

The Standard Room: 1 Rating
Located on the Ground Floor.
No Airconditioner and ventillation.
Windows cannot be opened for the fear of mosquitoes, bugs and privacy.
Room had one Air cooler but if you operate simple air cooler in a closed room humidity will increase and the rooms becomes sultry.
Light and fan were controlled by one switch. So we have to sleep the whole night with lights which was irritating.
Room had only a 14 inch TV (old CRT) that was disappointing.
Room had good number of cockroaches. I hunted a few.

Next morning we ran from that place.

I like mansoon. Amba, a small place 60km far from Kolhapur was an option to try. Jungle, beautiful dam, Vishalgarh, Amba ghat are the attractions here.
I stayed at Vanashree resort, It's in the village itself. I was expecting it in the jungle but slight disappointment here.
People were good at the resort, and non veg food too(if you like Tambada and Pandhara).
I found nothing to do here after sight seeing at Amba. I prefer go to Marleshwar temple(around 35KM) by open jeep.
Good:
1. Calm place for relaxing
2. Water falls and jungle near the place
3. Rates are cheaper

Go here with a mindset of enjoying typical Maharashtrain village food. Rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Hot water is a challenge. Views are good. Must try is night safari which is more for an experience rather than for spotting anything in dark. The place is at a proximity to local attractions. The biggest highlight was the food especially Shrikhand

We ( My self and My wife ) stayed in this hotel for two days. We had wonderful time away from Mumbai amidst Nature. Amba Ghats is must visit place for all nature lovers. We enjoyed Jungle safari in the morning. Hotel room and toilet was clean and has wonderful view of Ghats with plenty of Greenery . I would recommend this hotel for any one.

Booking : did a phone booking and paid advance online. Hassel free process. Spoke to owner Mr. Deshpande who sounded very helpful and offered big room since I was traveling with family with 6 months old baby and toddler.

Location : Easy to locate. On Amba- Ratnagiri highway.

Property : Though its called as resort but would say its more of a home stay than resort. Room that we stayed was big enough to accomodate 3 adults and 2 kids. with basic furniture, it also had freeze , ac ( which we didnt switched on as weather was cold ) and flat screen tv (not led/lcd ). There were total 3 beds ( 1 double and 2 single).Toilet was clean and hot water waa available 24*7. They also have small play area but nothing to rave about.

Staff : Multitalented ppl who do cooking, housekeeping etc. No complaints about them.

Food : Package that I took included lunch, dinner and breakfast. Food was really good. Simple and homely. They only have veg or nonveg thali. Nonveg thali consisted of chicken, egg masala, tambada rassa ( really good) ,rice, chapati and solkadhi. Food remains samein lunch and dinner for nonveg and in veg they do change the subji. However in bf theybdont serve variety. Pohe, upama and bread egg were only option.

unlike other resorts they dont offer any activities like jungle safari, vaanbhojan etc. but they would arrange a jeep if you plan to go for safari, pawankhind etc.

verdict : Good place to stay for 1 or 2 days if you plan to visit the nearby places on your own.

The Vanashree Holiday Resort is an awesome place in Amba which is about 60 KMs from Kolhapur on Kolhapur-Ratnagiri Highway. The resort place is good with nice views and have little playground for kids.

Rooms are specious and decently maintained. There is also room for group of 6-8 members with decent charges. Just be aware of the monkeys if your room has a tree around, they do pick stuff if kept unattended. Gas geysers are installed in few rooms, they do provide hot water on request.

The owner Mr. Deshpande is good in nature and personally speaks and looks after the guest. The Staff at Vanashree is good, friendly and their service is also good.

They do provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overall food quality is good for both veg and non-veg. Only the thing is that you have to pre-order it.

Sightseeing/Jungle Safari is arranged on request with extra cost. The safari on Jeep roof is worth visiting. Meandering through the thick forest of Amba- Vishalgad road and a visit to Pavankhind of Baji Prabhu Deshpande is absolutely not to be missed. A must visit places are Amba ghat (8 KM from resort) and the Marleshwar (Mahadev) temple and Marleshwar waterfall which is around 30 KM from resort.

A best place to visit in any season, but specially in monsoon it’s out of the world experience, with thick fog descending on the entire village making the feeling of "cutoff from the world " all the more predominant.
