We stayed here in a village home many years ago with a business group from Rome,I can't remember the name of our house but it was complete with wood-burning fireplace and a stack of cut wood. Being autumn it was cold and rainy but our room was warm and most comfortable. We really felt "at home" and time went only...

We first spent a week there in 1999 on our honeymoon and were so moved by the castle's beauty, quality and its surroundings we vowed to make it back again. That day was spring 2016 with our two kids aged 15 and 11. The castle is renovated to make it feel clean and comfortable but in a way to keep...

We agree with what's been written for the Excellent reviews. Do try to get to visit with Michelle at the front desk as she is very friendly and helpful. She gave us a personalized 30-minute tour of the village and was ready to get us what we could not get ourselves. We stayed in Palle (#6) which has the only...

Gargonza, an old castle village is located on a hilltop and over the last decades the owners have turned this into a beautiful, very authentic and unpretentious place to stay. The stone houses which comprise the village are now hotel rooms. The rooms have tasteful furnishing and I think all feature a working fireplace. Rooms all have basic facilities for self...

What a amazing place to stay! A castle built in the 13th Century and restored by a family after the WWII. Most castles in the area are privately owned but this is open to the public for vacations. It is steeped in history. Located in the heart of Chianti, Tuscany. Stayed for 4 days included in the price was breakfast...

For many, this place will likely get very high ratings due to the romance associated with staying in a centuries old castle in the heart of Tuscany. In that regard, it does deliver. However, it will be important to ensure that one's expectations are in order before arriving. We attended a close friend's wedding as part of a group of...

This is a beautiful, relaxing, friendly, unusual hotel. The whole hamlet is now a hotel, complete with cobbled streets and a church. The staff are lovely, the breakfast is extensive with smiling ladies to serve coffee and hot food. Our room "Pacche" was large and rustic, well maintained, clean and very comfortable. Air con and a small kitchenette with fridge...

Had a brief visit and stayed in two superior rooms (no.10 & 11). Have been coming to Gargonza on and off for the last thirty years but my last stay was back in 2004. The whole concept is magical, a medieval castle and village which is now a hotel and residence with self catering options works well. From the moment...

Gargonza is one of those special, unique places. A Tuscan castle and estate that has been lovingly restored into a hotel and self-catering apartments/houses. It is a calm place, away from the hectic tourist spots but well within reach of Sienna, Florence, Arezzo and the wine trails of Tuscany. It is great for families, with its own pool and restaurant....

If you want a quiet yet stunning place, this is it. Gargonza is not for the person who seeks action all the time, but for the one that looks for relaxation. It also offers plenty of activities since it has trails, a great pool with a stunning view of both, the castle and the Chiana valley, and they also have...
