Inspecting prospective motels has proven to be a good strategy in NZ. Some places can be a bit dusty and smelly and a bit of a shock if you take them unseen. So it's quite a treat to find a rather new and fresh unit at the Avalon Manor. The unit is in a new batch of four boasting King...

Lovely clean room with fresh linen and soft bed. good shower. Nice to have a little deck area that looks out the back to the vineyard and mountains. Close to town and other facilities. Kitchen facilities good - cooked for my self at night and found all I needed. Would stay at this motel again.

This is the second time that we have stayed at this motel. We were more than impressed on our first visit and they still maintain the same high standards. Each of our visits have been for 2 nights. The motel units are spacious and very modern. They are very well equipped with cooking facilities and good size bathrooms. They are...

I was in two minds whether to give this Motel a very good or average rating after a couple things took the shine off our stay. Firstly the good, we stayed in one of the upstairs rooms and it was spacious, clean and overall the motel is very handy to things in Motueka but also is a good base for...

I stayed here with an Exodus tour group in early February, 2015, whilst travelling around N and S islands. The owners were very helpful and friendly and our motel-style bedrooms were all spacious, clean and well equipped - en suite and with a small kitchenette. The town centre with its restaurants and supermarket was a short walk away; wifi was...

The last time we stayed was 8 years ago so wondered if it would still be good - it is! Jane was very helpful when we phoned to upgrade our room. We felt it was well worth the extra $15 a night. Spacious and comfortable. Breakfast bar/island which gave lots of space for preparing a meal. Spa bath with shower...

Recently stayed at the Avalon Manor Motel while visiting Abel Tasman National Park. The hotel was only about 30 minutes away from where we needed to be in the park, so the location was great. The room was clean and in good repair; our only complaint is that there is no AC and the room was rather warm. Of note,...

Our group spent 2 nights here over the New Year. Our suite #6 was just the thing to re-energize us. Looking to the back of the property we had perhaps the best view and small private patio. Very clean and well managed. Pride in their property was evident. Too bad we didn't have more time here. We would have returned...

We had a one bed room apartment upstairs. It was spacious and overlooked kiwi fruit orchard. At $180 it was the most expensive on our South Island visit. Owner charged a fee for Paying by credit card which was not disclosed to us prior to arrival and also wanted $5 to connect to wi fi, which took the shine off...
