We stayed at the Castle Hotel for 6 nights mid June we had a wonderful time, excellent room, excellent food, wonderful people. We had two dogs whose every need was catered for, towels, leads, food bowls, poop bags and a welcoming smile from everyone. I am a vegan and everyone remembered, something was prepared for me every day. My husband...

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights with her 2 dogs. We had a lovely room, great views over the town and our boys loved their dog boxes! Breakfast was great and we had dinner too, also excellent. The dogs were with us all the time, and the only thing that spoilt it was the dismal weather which meant...

Had an enjoyable evening meal which ticks all the boxes. Well worth a visit and enjoyed viewing the back garden which contains a large variety of unusual quality plants. Will make a return visit. Chicken was well presented and a tasty meal

This is a lovely pub/hotel/restaurant. Just in those words it should show how they manage the different aspects of the business. We were staying with our dog who was made most welcome but even if you don't have a dog this is a beautiful place for a break. The hotel provides daily news with your breakfast menu which will give...

We stayed here for a couple of nights to access a local trout fishery (Onny Vale - excellent by the way). We found it a very friendly and comfortable place to stay with a lot of little touches that make a big difference. Home made bread and hand cut chips, a good menu with a mix of bar and resturant...

I stayed two nights this month. The room was clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good. The hotel is well decorated and maintained, although I don't like having paintings on the walls which are for sale. Externally the hotel windows urgently need repairing and re-painting and the extractor fan/vent from the kitchen ruins the...

We stayed at the Castle Hotel in mid June (3 nights) - celebrating a significant family event. Our dog was made to feel so welcome - it made the whole stay really perfect and easy for us. There are few places where your dog is treated like royalty and allowed to join you for meals in the bar areas (for...

Pub food with quality, style and price higher than most. The quality of meat was very good. The basket of chips was also tasty. Garnish with the burger was meager and a bit pretentious – solitary slice of tomato and gherkin? Why not a healthy portion of salad or veg? The choice of beer is limited, but quality good. We...

We have just returned from a weekend break at the hotel. We took our large greyhound Bowie and he loved it. He had his own box full of essentials and he was able to sit in the bar with us while we ate breakfast and dinner.
