Detailed Reviews
Nice rustic ambience, landscape is very tastefully done. Lot of open space where one can relax or meditate or simply connect with nature. Hospitality is great and food is very very tasty. However, for the tariff, the room and washroom conditions need to be better and housekeeping needs attention.

Holi 2020 was a scintillating and amazing experience for me at the Rare Earth Homestay in Tagore’s Shantiniketan.
The beautiful stretch of green trees, flowers and the smell of nature is so rejuvenating. The Homestay is a perfect place to stay. Once one visits he will understand the actual warmth and happiness that beats there.
Just 3 hrs drive from Kolkata and the road is like a driver’s paradise. One can easily drive at 120-140 kms/hr at patches in the highway.
The nature is so vibrant in every part of Rare Earth Homestay. We did not feel like coming back. It really makes us think about how much care and time was given to make this place so heavenly.
Awesome food, fresh and tasty. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and excellently done with AC and hot water geysers. Rooms are clean with nicely done upholstery all with a blend of natural and Tagorean theme.
The dining area, sitting areas and the entire place is very picturesque, and the beautifully done gardens are full of lovely beautiful flowers, trees and vegetables. So many birds come and go all through the day.
One will definitely feel like going back over and over again.
The warmth and care of every person here was very touching.
Mornings are blissful and evenings are calm and peaceful.
A mind blowing and rejuvenating stay for us.
I am definitely staying in Rare Earth and will frequently plan my visits to Shantiniketan henceforth.

Rare Earth Farm stay was so beautiful and such a safe place to go to. Our family had gone for a few days on October and we were greeted by Mr. Arindam who took very good care of us throughout our stay there. The food was excellent. Highly recommended by our entire family!

We stayed in the mudhouse. The rooms are nice and the property is ideal for a weekend getaway from kolkata. The major concern is the food. The food was tasty but had some other concerns. The day we arrived we ordered few veg and few non veg thalis. The thalies had yam boiled( ol sheddo) and yam sabji. the second day for lunch it was yam sabji again with prawns. out of 3 days we had yam for 2 days. breakfast was a part of the room. so breakfast was short everyday of our stay. the 1st day it was luchi. each plate had 4 luchis which was fine for most of us but for youngsters we asked for few extra and the manager was very reluctant to serve the same. on the second day breakfast was poha...one person was delayed for breakfast. when she joined us for breakfast and we asked for some poha , the manager said " we have already served 2 bowls( we were a group of 11 person), there is nothing left". She had to eat bread jam . the portion of food was only a concern for breakfast not for other meals so our guess is as it was part of package and rest was charged. Please keep a room only rate and charge breakfast separately. Atleast people will have breakfast and not have to miss it.
NB: as the mud house gets a little cold late night/ early morning you can have a few extra bedsheets or think blankets in the rooms.

Best place to stay in Santiniketan. carefully constructed keeping art, culture and functionality in mind. Owners live there and they are great company to be around. Would recommend to my friends and family to go spend there out of the hustle and bustle of city life. Explore local food , read books or play outdoors you just name it they provide all in one out there. its pet friendly property. set backs: food taste could be improved and linens could be more clean.

The Rare Earth is true to its name - it is indeed a very rare property. Amazingly green and beautiful, very expansive, it is a perfect blend of rustic charm and all modern amenities. It has a pond, a small forest, lawns, farm and farm animals, quaint little cottages - you name it and they have it all.
Every corner of the property has been very thoughtfully designed yet there is a carefree, natural charm to the entire place.
And the people who run the place treat you like family. A big shoutout to Souvik and Arindam Da for making our experience unforgettable. I would definitely want to come back.
And to anyone reading this - book without a worry and you will absolutely love it.

A gem near Santiniketan, tucked away at a remote village amidst lush green trees and abundance of nature.
It is like getting back to roots. Vast property, mud house rooms, great Bengali food and smiling faces … overall an ideal place if you want to rewind, relax and enjoy ‘nothing to do’ breaks.
Arindam and team looked after us really well. Evening baul performance was also very good. The last few kilometres is kachha and that is probably the only issue. One may need a SUV or Innova type vehicle to go through, our CRV had no issue at all.
Overall a lovely place and highly recommended. We look forward to coming back in winter

The name does full justice to the place… the photos on the other hand doesn’t.
It is indeed “rare” to find a place such as this,so close to city life, making its name just as apt.
The photos on their website successfully hides the expanse of its beauty, teasing you only with just as much as it is sufficient enough to lure you to it.
Located beside a Santal (tribal) village at a short distance from Santiniketan , it provides you with the luxury of rolling meadows, verdant greens, unpolluted air, and the most mellifluous sound for myriad birds waking you up at the break of dawn.
True to its tagline, “just do nothing” .. this place is ideal for those who want to experience nature at its tranquil best, have home-grown and home-style cooked food, and read a book by the pond, or just listen to the music of nature.
I had the most idyllic time relaxing and rejuvenating here with my furry companions, who enjoyed just as much. Do I need to impress upon the fact any more, that I would love to go back, and soon?

I expected a mud house, but I found a filthy accommodation. All walls were with mould (fungus). Even on touching the hands become black. They have not been wiped for months. Mattresses were dirty and torn,
Food was just ordinary . Manager was drunk.
Difficult approach. 2.5 of No-Road condition. google map takes you around

Lived just one night, but feels like I have lived so much. Great place, pay very little and own this place during your stay. Lush green, isolated true sense of Shantniketan. No wonder this place, this air, these trees do magic. Very helpful staff, limited but great organic food. Indulge in living 100% pure oxygen, farming, listen to the birds chirping with a endless chat with mother nature. I strongly recommend to all who are looking for a stay away from regular holidays.
