I visited this place for the 5th time this Dec. This itself tells how much I loved it as a weekend retreat. But I must point out a few major disappints this time. 1. Not satisfied with sanitization 2. No temperature checks were done. 3. Lunch- though it was pre-ordered but not served. They served that to some one else. 4. Surprisingly no entry was done in register. 5. Service guys were hardly wearing masks. The manager was not wearing at all. 6. The Baul singer was spitting here and there. 7. The cups in the room and even in the dining hall had cracks. We had to change twice for a cup of tea. I am extremely sad that such a beautiful place has deteriorated as much. I hope this review will make the management sit up and take action to bring back this place to its glory.
This place is really wonderful and far from the hustle bustle of the city. Mud cottages with all modern amenities and clean room and toilet.. It's a very calm and quiet place with courteous staff and excellent service. Food is also good
This review is going to be a long one, apologies in advance. My sister and I stayed here for one night during weekend. First the good part: It is a nice property away from noise and dust of the town. There are a lot of trees, a pond and nice walking path on the property. The grounds are very well maintained. The food is excellent and service staff very attentive. We stayed in one of the rooms in the white three-story building. The building is new and clean. Our room was quite large with attached balcony and bathroom. Bathroom was clean (I am very particular about cleanliness of the bathrooms). Furniture was nice and more than enough for a short stay. Balcony had a nice view of the garden. Now not so good part: The bed sheets appeared not have been washed. There were some dirt marks on them and on the pillowcase. Now you might ask did we bring this to the attention of the staff at the time. We did not. You will see the reason on the next paragraph. We were given the local manager's contact number by the sales agent in Kolkata. The manager's name is Pradip. We gave my sister's phone number as contact number. The manager contacted us about our arrival time and lunch order. He also gave us a contact number for a Toto-guy. So far so good. We arrived Sat afternoon and checked in. The manger kept our ID cards for some reason. Usually hotels take a copy of the ID and gives it back. Anyway I did not think much of it at the time. We were shown to our room. In the afternoon we went to the Khoai Haat. While we were shopping we ran into the same manager, we said hi. He gave us our ID cards back, he had them in his shirt pocket. Again, bizarre to say the least. Gave me an uneasy feeling. After dinner we wanted to go for a walk around the garden. It was very dark and we were not sure if it was safe. My sister asked the manager via text if it was ok for us to go for a walk at late evening. We did not hear back from him till midnight. That is where it started to get very uncomfortable. He texted my sister (I was asleep by this time) that he is waiting outside for us for go for a walk with him. Yes, you read that right. Who does that? We never said that we would like to go for a walk with him. My sister replied that we are in for the night. He kept calling and texting her repeatedly. We were afraid as the property is in middle of nowhere and we did not know how far he will go. The next morning, we had breakfast, and walked around the property. He was at the front office and pretended all is normal. We checked out at 12pm, and went about our day. He kept texting my sister about how much he likes body massage and other vulgar things. He is so dumb that he sent all of these via texts. So we do have written proof that this happened. We have informed the Kolkata booking agent about this and sent him (his name is Kedar I believe) a copy of the texts. He (Kedar) apologized, but we don't know if any action will be taken. So long story short, we will not be revisiting. I am not going to tell others what to do, but if you are a young woman travelling with other women or solo avoid this place. It made us feel extremely unsafe, and that is the last thing you want when you are trying to have a nice relaxing time.…
this is a hidden gem 4kms off Bolpur Suri Road. In Shantiniketan but away from the nuisance. U drive straight and hit Shonobarer Haat. Set in a rural setting with no hotels nearby. Great staff, always welcoming. Cook Robin is a master of Bengali cuisine. We stayed in the newly constructed cottage. Oh what a cottage..absolute 5 star
Best Experience.. Comfort at best.. Great Service and awesome food.. specially bnaash pora chicken and Bengali Cuisine. Great Ambience. It’s very natural and cozy too.. Bonfire is fun over there.. Overall it’s a lovely experience.. Best in Bolpur
