The house which had many stories to tell , We were glad to stay in choto kuthir with the amazing host Nayana , It felt like home , We have plans to go back soon . Thank you. অনেক দিন পর আমরা একসাথে এত শান্তিতে সময় কাটালাম। আর নয়না দি খুবই ভালো এবং মিশুকে Host। আর helping hand মাকুদি ও অসাধারন।
Went to Shantiniketan after quite a while and as usual stayed at NHS. I spent only one night there. Wished I had stayed a little longer. Nayana has really upgraded the rooms. They are simply beautiful. I really liked the plasterless finish of the walls. The bathroom has been improved vastly. The service continues to be top class . You couldn’t ask for anything more. Keep it up Nayana. You are a cut above the rest.
We went because we wanted a break and we certainly chose the right place. The rooms are comfortable and the facilities are excellent. We requested Nayana to take us around Birbhum and that turned out to be a most interesting day. The area is dotted with beautiful terracotta temples and ruined palaces and of course during the breaks we enjoyed first rate Bengali cuisine
When work days strech right through the weekends carrying with it all the related stress and exhaustion, there is no other place like this one. That's exactly what I chose to do, when I could take it no more. I just grabbed my laptop and DSLR and planted myself at Nayana's and the healing was instant. As you sit, sipping tea on the verandah, overlooking the huge front garden, you lose track of time. There is so much open space and greenery all around and that is where this place stands apart from the rest. The 2 days were well spent with early morning bird watching, followed by work and all under the care of Maku and Nayana. I can't remember having slept that deep since a very long time. Thank you Nayana.
We four family members visited Nayana's Homestay and the experience is wonderful. The house is tastefully decorated with attention to every detail. The house help (Maku di) is extremely a humble person, always ready to take care of your request. There are enough things to look around inside the house and the ambience of the locality is just apt for Peace and Tranquility which resembles the true meaning of Shantiniketan. Next day morning welcomed us with dawn chorus from variety of birds. This place is not like commercial hotels or vacation rentals, instead the homestay is beyond comparison. Spread across a huge area, the bunglow gives a feeling of "all yours" where you get chance to spend quality time. We convey our heartfelt thanks to Borgi da whose food is the best of a kind…
A wonderful experience we had during our two day stay at Nayana’s homestay in Shantiniketan. An abode of peace and tranquility, with a sprawling garden embellished with typical Bengali trees as well as beautiful roses, the morrum pathway leads to a real’home’. Decorated with ethnic objets d’art from all over India and abroad, the sitting room is really a comfort- zone.. Two bedrooms on each side are very cosy and offer a real test of local charm with glazed potteries improvised lamps and beautiful rugs. The toilet is well equipped with modern amenities. But the charm is the hospitality of the hostess. After entering the house one can enjoy the liberty to shrug off all stresses and anxieties as everything is being taken care off by Nayana herself. With mouth watering foods and…
Stayed with Nayana, who looked after us from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Planned a full itinerary of places to see, including a fantastic lunch at bono lakshmi, and regaled us with stories of local delights and family history which kept us entertained all evening long. Knows everything there is to know about shantiniketan. Particularly enjoyed the visit to Lipi's architecturally amazing house and pottery tootling around in a auto rickshaw. Say hi to Hati.
An excellent accommodation, beautiful ly maintained house. I just loved the place,..... Tastefully decorated, lovely cutlery, the terrace, the paintings on the wall etc, etc..Long list of likes. Only suggestion to Nayana, wish she arranges for in house food as I loved Maku's simple cooking. Borgi's food is good but a home is incomplete without in house food. Special mention for the very friendly and omnipresent hostess Nayana...She even got the Subarnarekha to open up for us. Would definitely visit again , hopefully soon.
Right from the time we spoke to Nayana on the phone, booking her homestay for our trip to Shantiniketan, we realised that we had made the right choice. The home of her parents, Nayana has maintained it with such love and care. Her father was a renowned painter and the walls are full of his paintings. But not just that, she has a collection of pottery, textiles and masks from all over the world and this is truly a homestay more than just a comfortable bed and a good breakfast. The bed is indeed comfortable and the breakfast was great too, with such an eclectic collection of local produce. And the lady herself knows everyone there is to know in Shantiniketan and can give you the most amazing tips on Kolkata and Bengal. We could not decide whether it was better to wander around the…
Nayana's homestay was a revelation that unpeeled in layers, taking its time, a refuge from the dust and crowd, its warm, cosy interiors clean, eclectic, and fulsome. The home cooked food provided by Borgi da and the excellent breakfast by Maku cushioned our stay at Chhota Kothi, providing comfort food that was light on the stomach. The itinerary that Nayana di planned for us to the terracotta temples and the zamindari past of Birbhum was an invigorating experience, an eye-opener that we would love to revisit. The late-night chats, sitting curled up in her cosy drawing room by lamplight was just what my jaded, exhausted mind required. We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway than this to unwind, find our mojo again and rejuvenate. We felt safe, cared for, and nourished,…
