We four family members visited Nayana's Homestay and the experience is wonderful. The house is tastefully decorated with attention to every detail. The house help (Maku di) is extremely a humble person, always ready to take care of your request. There are enough things to look around inside the house and the ambience of the locality is just apt for Peace and Tranquility which resembles the true meaning of Shantiniketan. Next day morning welcomed us with dawn chorus from variety of birds. This place is not like commercial hotels or vacation rentals, instead the homestay is beyond comparison. Spread across a huge area, the bunglow gives a feeling of "all yours" where you get chance to spend quality time. We convey our heartfelt thanks to Borgi da whose food is the best of a kind and he has given select dishes of the season which were fantastic. It's taste can easily beat most popular dining outlets of the town. Finally, a big thank you Nayana, we are deeply touched by your warmth and hospitality during our stay.

Walk up to the house and you will already get the impression of a house designed with a lot of thought in mind. The shape allows for more of a cooling breeze on hot monsoon days. Set in a lush garden on the green edge of Santiniketan, Nayana and her friendly dog will welcome you to your retreat.
Carefully decorated with paintings and period pictures you will find three bedrooms, two on the ground floor, one on the first floor. Porch in front and back are inviting places for your coffee, tea or byo sun-downer. Next morning an eggcellent breakfast awaits you.
Nayana knows everyone and everything in town and beyond, so you are all set for a wonderful stay !

This Tagore-Gangooly residence is a quaint two storey home set in tranquil surroundings even by Shantiniketan standards. The two guest rooms have the most comfortable, firm bed. The lullaby of the crickets, the avian chirpings and the distant sounds of a train are therapeutic. After the rooster’s gentle wakeup call, head to the kitchen and make yourself a cup of Darjeeling. The tiny delicious cookies in a kitchen jar are a perfect accompaniment. Her garden dotted with trees or the sunlit porch is a perfect place to sip while reading a book. Don't bother bringing your own, for Nayana (pronounced Noyona in Bengali) has books in every imaginable place. Ronnnie, her very friendly dog is always there for company. A short while later, a sumptuous breakfast with a frittata style omlette (if you choose) awaits you. Try the lovely local fruit jams, particularly the green mango jam. You will realize that her father's paintings and these books are the prologue, an intriguing introduction to what lies ahead. Walking around Shantiniketan, in conversation with Nayana is an experience worthy of this Tagore-locale. She articulates the region’s intellectual history and the arts with style and authenticity. Her energy and passion for the fine arts makes Noyona’s home an incredible stay. A place worth experiencing.

Nayana's place of abode 'Chota Kothi' made a delightful stay. A warm-hearted host, who pour's her Heart out in taking care of her guests, to the minutest of detail. My stay not only provided a comfortable Home, the Home cooked specially ordered meals too were delectable. Nayana also spent time with her Guests, in show-casing some of the fabulous sights and sound of Shantiniketan, including great meetings with local Artisans. A Perfect Stay, with great memories - I am going back there soon. It's a plum choice for a traveler. Go Visit Nayana's ..

I live in Kolkata at the moment and was visited by my mother and we very spontaneously decided that we wanted to go exploring the Indian countryside on Thursday evening and had heard so many positive things about Nayanas homestay and Shantiniketan that we wanted to give it a go. I can tell you it was a fantastic experience, I'm so glad we went! Nayana is one of the most helpful and genuinely nice people I've ever met, she booked the train tickets for us, organized a driver for Shantiniketan and basically organized everything for us so that we just had the most relaxed weekend ever. And all of that on such short notice (we wanted to leave on Friday already)
Her house is beautifully furnished, I love her taste in furniture and decoration and it's very clean, tidy and good-smelling. Also I absolutely adore her dog Ronnie that is very sweet and cuddly but also leaves you alone if you're not a dog person. As other people have mentioned before the breakfast at Nayanas is very good and on our last day we even got lunch for our trip back. What makes Nayanas homestay special for us was that she had so much advice of things that we can do in the area that we didn't have to do that much research and since we only had a few days in Shantiniketan it helped a lot that she basically had a whole program worked out for us. In the evenings we just sat on her porch and chatted or relaxed with a book. I wish we had had more time there to explore and enjoy the quietness of Nayanas house but unfortunately we had to leave on Sunday. I'll definitely come back though 😊 so thank you Nayana for making our weekend so special!

A superb trip to Santiniketan was only heightened by the comforts and hospitality of Nayana's homestay. The homestay is a tranquil shelter from the hustle and bustle of much of India, it offers space and time to immerse yourself into the culture of Santiniketan in order to absorb everything fully. The garden is lush and I will hopefully return in mango season to pick some fruit from the trees and help to make some mango liqueur!

It is very difficult to write a review without mentioning Nayana's lovely dog, Ronnie, who will be sure to give you a warm welcome after a long day. There is plenty to see and do in Santiniketan yet I would urge any future guests to take some time to relax, embracing the essence of such an incredible place- perhaps with a refreshing cup of Darjeeling tea...

Thank you Nayana for a lovely stay and hopefully see you again soon!

Nayana's Homestay was clean and beautiful. Surrounded by lush greenery all around, we had peaceful breakfasts in the morning and evening tea. With many outdoor spaces, it is easy to enjoy the surrounding nature. Nayana also provides tours that help one get a sense of the local feel of a place, from trips to the local vegetable markets, to hidden gem ruins, to Tiger's delicious Biryani, we felt the full experience of Santiniketan. Thanks for a great stay, Nayana!

We arrived to a cozy porch, overlooking a peaceful green garden, and greeted with conversation and snacks by the hostess, Nayana.

The room itself is clean and comfortable, tastefully decorated. Indeed, the house is a living gallery.

The hospitality was second to none. Nayana went out of her way to ensure our stay met our expectations, arranging a well-paced programme to imbibe the spirit of Santinikaten - not to mention the delicious, fresh and healthy home cooked (by a neighbour) meals.

Highly recommended
