We found Nayana and her Homestay by chance whilst planning a road trip through West Bengal, and what wondrous luck that was. Nayana is a passionate, dynamic woman, we felt almost immediately that we had been friends forever. Arriving after a long journey on rather bad roads, albeit full of interest we were immediately made to feel at home. Nayana's home is our sort of home, full of interesting and stunning artifacts, family photos and paintings, comfort, cool, lovely verandah to sit and watch the world go by. We immediately felt at home. Maku, Nayanas right hand woman was always on hand, we enjoyed her delicious breakfasts, bedrooms always tidied and amenities refilled. Good shower, extremely comfortable beds Nayana's verandah or her lovely living room or up on the balcony are

Arriving from Kolkata, we drove through the gate of Chota Kothi and were immediately charmed by the garden and the warm yellow house itself, with seating areas in the front, rear, and on the veranda, all with garden views. Inside, the eclectic art, raj-era dark wood furnishings, black & white photographs, and colorful textiles all made for a nostalgic feel that matches perfectly with Shanti Niketan itself. The Bengali dinner was wonderful, high quality food and well-prepared. Exploring the town, university and forest market were all lovely, but the house drew me in such that all I wanted to do was read a novel on the front porch. Maku, the caretaker, was accommodating and discreet, and her breakfast of eggs, oven toast, and local fruit was delicious. We will return again and

Chota Kothi is located in a quiet residential area, surrounded by its own garden. It has 2 bedrooms available, colourful and ethnic in style. Both are on the ground floor and have ensuite facilities. When we stayed, earlier this month, we slept and ate very well. Nayana was there to host us and was happy for us to consume our own beers. She tailored food to our tastes and all in all we had a great stay.

One always looks forward to the peace that Santiniketan offers and the tranquility of Nayana’s home stay. One was somewhat sceptical since Nayana said she wouldn’t be around. The apprehension was totally unfounded .Maku, her woman been well trained and and offered excellent service. The trees have grown beautifully and offer protection from ambient sounds. The stone Ganesha, a new acquisition, adds a new charm to that corner of the lawn. The whole property with its fresh coat of paint looks very nice and inviting. Thanks Nayana for making our holiday so enjoyable. If you had been around one could have had some stimulating conversations and the walks would have been longer.

In your hectic, harried cacophonic city life, can you hear the sound of silence? Nayana's Homestay at Uttarpally will provide you an idyllic settling amidst sylvan nature to do exactly that. Listen to the sound of silence! Located in Prantik, away from the slightly congested Bolpur town, Chhota Kothi, as her house is named, is a beautiful two storeyed one with a sprawling front garden and a kitchen garden. The two guest rooms are on the ground floor with a living/dining area and two verandahs. Tastefully done up with handicrafts, pottery, ceramicware, masks, curios, paintings, you may find a touch of Bengal is almost every corner. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully done up and garden facing. The caretaker, a lady from the neighbouring village will prepare a healthy,
