A true retreat for us. Idling our time doing nothing. Very peaceful place with a touch of warm hospitality. Owner personally take care to ensure all comfort. Food is excellent. The staff are very helpful. A vast water body and lots of greenery soothes one's senses. A serene calm atmosphere drapes you as soon as you enter the property. Wishing to return......
We were a group of 8 ladies along with 6 teenage kids & we visited this place in the last week of December during the time of Poush Mela. This place is located in the midst of nature & is a wonderful place to stay if you are going in a group & want to enjoy the calm & quiet environment away from the hustle of city life. The best part of this place is the food & the care & hospitality of the owner who is a lady along with her support staff who will not give you a chance to complain & will take care of your every day needs to the best of her abilities. She cooks lovely & tasty food prepared straight from the farmhouse & you will enjoy it thoroughly. This is a little far away from the station but they arrange pickup & drop along with local sightseeing tour so this should not be a problem. We enjoyed bonfire which was arranged in the cold evening & would like to visit this place again in future & also recommend to others,…
Located just a kilometre away from buzz of the Bolpur city, teh hotel offered me a serene, peaceful environment to spend the three nights I had been in Shantiniketan. I rose with the chirping of birds, to find that my morning tea has already been served by the hotel-staff. The meals were also offered at the right time. The manager was very courteous and took utmost care for my convenience.
This property was originally owned and developed by my family-members - so I know the place from its inception. However, now that they have sold the establishment to a 'Tourism Company', I see there are a number of ODD MISTAKES in this listing... 1) LOCATION of the property as being 'IN SANTINIKETAN':- It is located within the "Ilam Bazar" area (pin code 731236) - which is NEAR Bolpur-Santiniketan - but it is CERTAINLY NOT INSIDE SANTINIKETAN (The Bolpur-Santiniketan jurisdiction ENDS about a kilometer before Jiraan)! 2) POSITION ON THE MAP:- The position shown on the map is OUTRIGHT WRONG! It should be about 8-10 km south-west of where it is SHOWN; it is actually located in Kamar-Para village
I have already visited Jiran 8 to 9 times with my family & Friends. Each time I discover the beauty of the surroundings. I stayed there in last Basantosav(Dol) with my family, we arranged Baul Songs & Santhali Dance in the resort . Everybody enjoyed the programme. Specially Bappa is very heplful and he co-operated with us in every matter.
We've booked 'dol mahal'. There is a big pond inside the Resort.. three side of resort is nothing but green paddy field.. Lots of trees are inside the resort. For bird lovers it's a must place to go.. You can have fish just caught from pond... The hotel staffs are too homely..
1 N/2 D should be the ideal gateway for this. For longer stay - group visit may be ideal. Staff very cooperative ( But not trained in Hospitality and hence don't expect customer service by the way as we mean it). You will find good Bengali food. Make sure you order with sufficient time in hand. The rooms are decent with clean bathrooms. Although estate should have been better managed in terms of cleanliness and ambiance. You will find Bonolokhi - famous for good Bengali food nearby ( within 2 KM) and Pottery showroom within (5 KM) of the retreat. There is a variety store outside the retreat - with good stock of cold drinks, energy drinks, snacks - maggi and different types of salted nuts etc.
We had the occasion to visit Jiran the Retreat for 3 days from March 28, 2014 with our family of 6 members. Initially we had a doubt about the standard of the resort and the summer heat. However, all our doubts were put to rest. The thatched-roof rooms provided us with a previously unexperienced pleasure. The demand for AC appeared needless. The washrooms and the interior of the rooms were spacious and well maintained. The attending staff were simple and devoted to their work. No word of praise matches the quality and hygiene of the food served. We had the pleasure of having the taste of indigenous Bengali cuisine after a long time. The kitchen staff, specially the lady employees working there, were so courteous that you would feel very homely. The terrace above the dining room was amazing and we enjoyed the breezy weather despite the scorching heat of the sun. There are scope to improve the lighting arrangements and provide some games facilities for children. It was not a very luxurious stay but a happy and homely arrangement. The vegetable garden and the pond at the centre of the courtyard added to the attraction of the resort. The pond though, requires maintenance. Looking forward for our next visit.…

Our one-night stay in Jiraan Retreat in Kamarpara, near Shantiniketan was an awesome experience. We were surprised to see the hospitality of the Hotel staffs. Just after our arrival, they served us lemon juice. There are five rooms or mahals. We stayed at the 4-bedded Naya Mahal. Its a thatched house with all the facilities available. The food is just excellent and homely. The ambiance and environment of this retreat, situated on the Illambazar- Bolpur road is superb.
