I usually don't write review even I am little disappointed. But someone has to write an honest review of this property so that others don't get fooled by the social media post and their impressive website. I liked the concept and planning of the property. It has lots of plants are trees. Nice surrounding. Although little far but it's a nice drive and easily accessible. Here is some of the real bad thing of Moram Earth. Very, very slow service. Mainly due to lack of trained staff. On 24th Dec at night, they had guests in 11 cottages (they have total 13 rooms) and they had just 4 staff to serve the guest. Can you beat it? Awful maintenance of everything. The garden is in shamble. The food quality and qty. The taste is very average. You expect great food when you stay in premium resort like this. The food price is quite high but the qty does not commensurate with the price. The rooms look old and dirty. If you add extra bed, they will not have any space left. Overall, very disappointed. Salute to the staffs who are well behaved and working tirelessly.

We were looking for a place for a place in Santiniketan for long weekend trip, which would not be crowded and where we could enjoy nature to the fullest. Moram Eco resort, situated in Debanandapur village came across as a perfect option for us.
We had travelled by road and the Google Map directed us through small villages and narrow roads to reach the place. On the day we reached, we were the only guests there. The restaurant is situated just near to the entrance and we took our lunch there. We opted for thalis and little did we realize that we would be treated with huge quantities of food, served in brass utensils. The food was all homely and tasty. The people there took great care to make us feel comfortable.
The resort is spread across a large area, nestled with different varieties of trees and plants. Vegetables and herbs are grown within the resort. There is a small pond with a tree house in the center. A number of ducks keep you company in the resort, quacking around. There is a small souvenir shop as well, from where we bought home made ghee ,honey and spices.
There are different types of rooms available - AC / Non AC Concrete or mud house. We stayed in the mud houses. Next day, there were few more guests who came to the resort and the resort authorities arranged for folk dance in the evening. They also arranged bonfire and barbeque for us on prior request.
It was an amazing experience spending two days amidst the nature and enjoying the warm hospitality of the local people. Would love to visit again

We five friends planned to visit moram so that we can stay away from the busy city and relax near nature for few days. Once we reached that place we received a very warm welcome .It was like I returned to a place where I belong. The staffs were very nice in nature . Coming to stay , we lived in the mud house called venesta at the second floor . The rooms were good , one should not expect it to be like a 5 star hotel room as their rooms are part of their theme , it's different. The food here was very homely , I still remember the taste of mutton curry and pulav I ate the day we were returning . They also have a place for barbecue , we took that facility and enjoyed it very much. In moram one will definitely find peace of mind for that many days they are planning to stay and this I can tell from my experience.

A hidden gem, 10kms off Bolpur, near Kopai . A wonderful village resort with mud huts, surrounded by trees ,paddy fields, white pigeon , raft of ducks , and ponds...indeed an ideal escapade from the busy city life. You will wake up with the sweet songs of birds, nature all around. And if you are a late riser then the ethereal sound of flute will wake you up. It's a very calm and quiet place with courteous staff and excellent service. I would strongly recommend the place for a tranquil weekend

I had planned to go to the hills but landed up at Moram instead. The trip from Kolkta is convenient and there are plenty of trains to choose from.A Toto(Monoj) was wauting for us at the station and me and my daughter enjoyed the ride to the location. We were welcomed traditionally at the gate and served cool nimbu pani. Then we were shown our room. The rooms are nicely done up and clean. Bathrooms are modern even if they are in the mud hut.All rooms have AC and fans except for the few non AC ones. Lush green all around.Mangoes hanging temptingly from trees.Ducks, swans, pigeons and hens busily going around the place is something to enjoy. The food was excellent.Traditional Bengali fare for lunch and dinner and for breakfast you could choose. The workshop was an added attraction.Just seeing the making of a kurti or dress, right from the dying of the cloth to the handwork was amazing.Everyone of the staff were polite, soft spoken and a very happy lot -----from Joysree,Manas,Kalpana,Dipu,Kali,Joba,Shagori to Ajoy the generator man,---all went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.Yes, the only hitch was the terrible heat and the electricity. Moram needs to improve its electric supply by installing solar panels. It is remote and people who like the solitude would love it. Going in a group would give a different experience.Ideal place for a weekend trip.Of course the best time to visit would be when it is a bit cooler and not in the rainy season.Lovely place!

Spent three lovely days in the Resort. Nearest station is Prantik. The staff are courteous and helpful, they greet the guests in a typical Bengali "boron" style... that was quite delectable. The ambience of the resort is praiseworthy, you can savour the presence of abundant greeneries and the practice of indigenous cultivation and handicrafts there. The rooms are spacious, clean, with LCD tvs and other basic facilities.... The food they serve is authentic Bengali food but is a bit overpriced.
Overall a nice stay. Recommended.

Before mentioning the shortcomings, let me state the positive points of this resort- Its a lovely property with greenery all around. The staffs are cordial and the meals served are authentic bengali preparations and tasty too. Considering the tariff ( Rs.2500/- per night for an AC room and Rs.500/- for an extra person) its not value for money. Its remotely located, half an hour ride from Bolpur station and the approach road is quite a bumpy one . The entrance to the rooms are open to sky and as such littered by birds etc.The construction is not complete and the room allotted to us ( #5) has no cupboard, no table, no drawer and keeping ones belongings/ luggage is difficult. The choice of breakfast is limited to bread, fruits and egg. If you order for anything else, you have to wait till 10 o'clock to get the food served as they dont have resident cooks and you have to follow their timings.the dining area looks nice but not a very practical one with low lying tables . The wash area needs to be improved too. With lots of other options available, it will definitely not be our choice for our next Shantiniketan trip.

This hotel is way too overpriced for the kind of rooms, food and service it provides. The rooms being small and untidy. The food distasteful. And what tops everything is the miserable and disrespectful service viz the staff present there. The reason why i bring up the disrespectful staff issue is because of what my family and I faced day before yesterday(1st April 2019) at the hotel premises. Even though we placed orders for evening snacks and dinner properly, the person who took our order and is probably in charge of operations during the second half of the day -Joyram, messed up the entire order and got us stuff that weren’t ordered and at the same time omitted food items that were ordered. He making a mistake isn’t tthe issue out here. Something as simple as a sorry would have done but when he tried to blame us completely and solely for the mishap is what made us angry. When we started detailing the facts as to how we clearly placed the order correctly, he started arguing again and amidst such heated conversation between me and that brat Joyram , he said something that no person in the service industry can even dream of saying and literally crossed his line. Bengali version of what he said: “Apnader key amar room dewa e bhul hoyeche” English conversion: “ Giving you a room was a mistake!”
Imagine the audacity ! I gave that Joyram back with words and brought him down to earth by making him realise that he is just a ‘staff’ and therefore should act like one and that he has no authority and is no one to decide who should a room be given to. Then i got up from the dinner table, left my food in between and called up the owner and told her about such a piteous act from his ‘staff’ . And told her that we are willing to drive off if this was the treatment we were to receive. She said she will have a talk with him - and that’s about it. She never had the time and the need to call us back and update us or apologise for such a terrible incident from their end. So she is equally responsible for the nasty experience.
To sum up,if you are even thinking of staying here after reading all this, please don’t- coz what happened to me can easily happen to you.

The real Shantiniketan in West Bengal is found today at Moram. It is what Gurudev Rabindranath would have envisioned at Shantiniketan, which is now fallen into the hands of greedy exploiters of tourism and business. At Moram to wake up at cockcrow to go out to be greeted by free ranging chicken, ducks and other birds. To be greeted by the lovely music of a fllute played by a person labelled by society as a tribal and thus an outcaste. Rooms. Are made of mud and thatched with straw, except for the bathroom which is well fitted. Food is traditional West Bengal, simple tasty and nutritious, prepared and served by "tribal" girls who are accepted as equals at Moram. I believe all their website claims to be true.
