Property's Favourite Review
Britannia House is a wonderfully welcoming, clean family home…we were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome which enabled us to relax straight away, and begin to enjoy our first visit to Cornwall. The upper deck ( our rooms) is a beautifully decorated and a luxuriously comfortable space with everything anyone could need. The upper deck has fantastic views across the bay and of St Michaels mount, although set the centre of marazion it is surprisingly quiet, it is close to amenities with a choice of eateries close by.
The hosts were very informative about the area and of best places to park for visiting the ‘must go’ places, which proved invaluable and saved us a lot of time. The breakfasts were fantastically generous with great choices and were very tasty they set us up for the day. We hope to be back someday ….

Thanks Susan and Paul for this superb review. We're really pleased that you so enjoyed your stay at the Upper Deck B&B (and Alison's hearty breakfasts), and that your first visit was so memorable. Thanks for commenting on our welcome and hospitality, and the useful recommendations we were able to provide to help you find some hidden gems close to Marazion. It's one of the things that sets us apart from latch key rooms or even self catering accommodation, as shared local knowledge really can make all the difference. You'll be pleased to hear there's lots more to see and do, so here's hoping you'll be able to stay again another time :-) Warmest regards Paul & Alison

We first discovered The Upper Deck in 2018 and have stayed numerous times since. There is so much to keep you coming back: a perfect location (just a few minutes walk into Marazion town, the beach and St Michael's Mount); a fresh, clean and beautifully finished bedroom and en-suite, the DELICIOUS home-made treats and hearty breakfasts (delivered to your bedroom door if you like) topped off with Paul and Alison's friendly hosting style. It's a perfect balance of your own, totally private space, tucked away on the top floor but with Alison and Paul on hand treating you like treasured house guests should you need anything. As soon as we can be, we'll be back! x

"We had a wonderful time at Britannia House. Alison and Paul are the perfect hosts and made us feel welcome. From the minute we arrived we sampled Alison's fabulous cooking of homemade scones and jam and were treated every morning to a wonderful first class breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble with our hosts giving us great advice on where to visit and eat, it really felt more like we were staying with friends. The whole accommodation is exquisite, we had a big super comfy bed and walk in shower, perfectly set, with soft fluffy towels and we even had a G&T left in the fridge for us to enjoy. The attention to detail is first class, walking in on an evening to the smell of a beautiful candle burning made it feel like home from home. We also loved little Betty the dog, she is adorable. The small town of Marazion is lovely, we enjoyed some lovely coastal walks and our visit to St Michaels Mount. We will visit again and definitely recommend you. Thank you, we really loved it. Myself and my wife try to visit Marazion once a year. We were booked to visit the upper deck on the the 8th July and thankfully lockdown restrictions were lifted on the 4th July. So our visit could go ahead
The Upper Deck is a fantastic B&B which we cannot recommend enough great host's in Paul and Alison who couldn't be more helpful with advice on places to eat walks and attractions to visit. Breakfasts absolutely superb and the room is a great size.
Wish Paul and Alison all the best for the future hope to see you again soon.

+1
Britannia House... A beautiful Christmas stay.
We were privileged to have the whole of Britannia House to ourselves for the Christmas week in 2022.
We were met by Paul and Alison and a hamper overflowing with thoughtful treats (which we enjoyed throughout our whole stay). After a welcome drink we were shown around the property making sure that we were familiar with everything including the oven, showers and cosy log fire.
We had a perfect week's stay enjoying walking along several local beaches including Praa Sands and St Michael's. We had brunch at the Godolphin (the Full Cornish - of course), saw Santa arrive in Marazion Square by the huge Christmas tree, shopped the Sales in St Ives and on wild weather days - enjoyed watching some great waves and sunsets.
One of the best things about staying in Britannia House is coming back after a day out. Throughout the property the furniture, fixtures and fittings are both well chosen and pristinely clean, the house is warm and cosy with ample heating and the addition of a wood burner and gas fire are both great for that perfect evening in. The kitchen is gorgeous! Every possible item a keen cook could need was available - providing plenty of beautiful crockery, pots, pans and oven / hob space. Our bedroom on the top floor was large, with an extremely comfortable bed and seating where we could read or watch the sunrises over the sea. Our spacious ensuite was well equipped with a lovely relaxing bath and plenty of storage. The lounge boasts a cosy fire giving a relaxed feel and a large screen tv.
Brittannia House is perfectly situated in the heart of Marazion, close to a great variety of cafes, pubs, restaurants and some unusual boutique gift shops too. The local pharmacy was also very helpful.
We parked in allocated parking, conveniently just two minutes away from our stay and it was very easy to pull up outside Britannia House to load / unload whenever we needed to. St Michael's beach is a couple of minutes walk from Britannia House or there are several great routes cutting up hill to view the coastline from a higher vantage point. We also found the local residents really chatty, friendly and helpful.
Whatever the time of year we plan to visit Cornwall we will definitely be booking Britannia House again, perfect for us and larger family / friendship groups.
See you soon Paul and Alison and thankyou for a lovely stay.

An excellent B&B in Marazion. it is 5 star +
We had a wonderful 4 night stay in the Lower Deck ( first floor accommodation) where we had our own sitting room with views across to St Michaels Mount as well as bedroom with super kingsize bed and our own bathroom with walk in shower. The facilities are well thought through with visitor comfort top of the list. Lots of little things also made our stay memorable from scones and jam on arrival, cans of G&T in the fridge in the wardobe, bath robes and a detailed Visitors pack. Alison's breakfasts are amazing, we ate in the kitchen and disgraced ourselves by eating a whole pot of her homemade marmalade ! We missed Paul, her husband who was away but Betty, their black Labrador kept us company.
The B& B also has a top ( Upper Deck) floor which is set out like a studio with ensuite. Parking is a 7 minute up hill walk away with an allocated permit spot but its an easy walk into the centre of Marazion and St.Michaels Mount. Alison made our stay very special, she is very attentive, helpful and so knowledgeable about local activities and places to visit. I wish all B& B's were like this. We felt very at home and we shall return

We love our stays at the Upper Deck and not only is the room stunning and the food exceptional but Paul and Alison are fantastic hosts too. We like the standard and cleanliness of a high quality hotel mixed with the local knowledge of Paul and Alison. They are happy to be there with ideas when you need them and yet leave you just to enjoy the surroundings and the comforts that staying at the Upper Deck brings.
We have stayed with Paul and liaison many times and never get tired of Alison's truly amazing breakfasts, always created with great love for food, and love of hosting guests. The french toast is superb and the Cornish breakfast never disappoints.
Marazion is lovely to stay in being small and compact but easy to reach other places should you wish to. It is a great place to use as a base for the surrounding area.
This is our go to place when we need a pick me up and a splash of Cornish coastal fun.

We had a wonderful two nights at the the gorgeous home of Alison and Paul. We were staying in the Upper Deck which is a beautiful conversion at the top of the house. The room was sparkling clean, well presented, lots of amenities provided and gorgeous views. There was plenty of information provided of the immediate and surrounding area in a handy book but Paul himself was a fountain of knowledge, providing lots of intel and guidance on restaurants and activities. The jewel in the crown has to be the huge, plentiful and delicious breakfasts - I would head back for these alone. Both continental and cooked breakfasts delivered to your room to enjoy whilst looking out over sea views, they filled us up until dinner. The homemade touches such as the overnight oats really set this b&b apart from the others. Would not hesitate to recommend and I hope we get the opportunity to stay again. Thank you Paul and Alison!

WOW! what an amazing review! Thanks so much for taking the time to say how much you enjoyed your stay with us. It was our pleasure to 'point you in the right direction' to experience just some of the delights of this gorgeous part of West Cornwall. We enjoy sharing local advice that takes into account the tide, prevailing winds and weather outlook to ensure you have the best possible experience. Alison is thrilled with your 'jewel in the crown' assessment of her breakfast offering :-) Don't forget to book direct with us when next you stay.... always cheaper than Airbnb who add their cut. Looking forward to welcoming you back another time. Very best regards, Paul & Alison.

We love staying at the Upper Deck and visited with friends in September 2023. Paul and Alison take such care over small details so that you feel completely at home and cared for. The rooms have everything you need, from the lovely items in the fridge, to the amazing comfortable bed, fantastic views and helpful advice on where to go. It is worth staying just for the choice and quality of breakfast!
The rooms are wonderful with comfy chairs, a lovely ensuite and so much to do in Marazion itself. You can spend a few days without having to drive anywhere. There is a variety of shops, the best Pasty shop and a good choice of places to eat. Obviously a walk across to St Michael's Mount is a must or indeed the ferry if the tide is in. Paul and Alison are great at suggesting places to visit and always happy to advise on things to do (the train from St Erth's to St Ives is lovely). A walk from the Upper Deck to Perranuthnoe just a few. We can highly recommend.

Thanks so much Melanie and Kevin for this fabulous review of your stay with us at The Upper Deck B&B. It's really pleasing for us to have such fantastic feedback which not only keeps our motivation high, but also lets other potential guests know about our 'home from home' feel and Alison's scrummy breakfasts. it was lovely having you to stay for a whole week to celebrate a 'significant birthday' with your friends staying in the Lower Deck. Glad you were able to experience so much and have such a memorable time together during your stay. Hope you'll be able to stay again another time. warmest regards Paul, Alison (& Betty).

We have had a perfect week staying with Alison and Paul at the Lower Deck for the first time since they moved on from running St Michael's B & B four years ago. Alison and Paul's reputation has thankfully travelled up the road with them to The Upper and Lower Deck, along with beautifully cooked fresh produce,up to date local knowledge, an understanding ear and friendly banter.
Our room at The Lower Deck was spotlessly clean, the Super king size bed meant a great night's sleep and the large bathroom with walk in shower is gorgeous.
Alison cooks THE best breakfasts,my favourite was definitely the bacon maple syrup Pancakes but I'm sure we'll be back very soon to try much more of the menu!
Thankyou so much Alison and Paul!
