Anyone wanting a good meal and atmosphere in a nice country pub with log fire, then this is the place as the food was excellent. However I wouldn't bother staying the night. We went for the weekend and stayed over for the Saturday night. The room was very dated and shabby looking, but the bed was the worst thing. I...

We were warmly welcomed by the landlord, who helped us to find a parking place, the traditional English bar was friendly, and the food was excellent and of good value. I particularly enjoyed the full English. The towels were such as you'd expect to find in a top of the range country house hotel. Only drawback - the stairs were...

We stayed here for one night on a whim on our way to Kettlewell. The room was small and stuffy and it needed some updating and re-decorating. Breakfast was ok it was your usual selection and was prompted served. The problem we had was with the band playing downstairs. When we booked the room there was no sign outside saying...

An old pub/guest house with a pleasant enough welcome, but the lack of maintenance and dirt behind the scenes was quite over-whelming. The stair way up to the rooms was absolutely filthy and has not been touched for it would seem decades and the fittings in the bedroom were very poor and shoddy. The room was so small I had...

We chose the Forester's as we wanted a pub lunch rather than anything gastro or fancy but were extremely disappointed with the food (roast beef all round). The meat was tasteless, veg over-cooked and the gravy was appalling. On the plus side the staff were very pleasant, we would possibly go back for a drink but not for food. Expected...

We received a friendly welcome from both landlady and landlord - very hospitable. The room was clean and perfectly adequate for our simple needs after a days hiking with the dog.The beer was really nice and food was fine too.If you are expecting 5* then perhaps go elsewhere but we found it a pleasant stay. Many thanks.

Great food, beer and hosts but unfortunately behind this façade is a run down B&B. From first entering the stairwell and landings leading to the bedrooms you get the feeling that no decoration has taken place for some time, nor the carpets been cleaned (not helped as it seems that the kitchens or pot room are on first floor) Although...
