My Dad and I have visited twice after completing long cycle rides of 80 miles. We stumbled upon this pub and then returned on our second visit as we were impressed. The pub has a roaring fire and a very friendly feel. The food is good, honest meals - we had meatballs and they were clearly freshly made. All fab!

We stayed at the Old Black Bull over the weekend to attend a wedding. We found the accommodation to be comfortable. The landlady was very friendly and helpful. The tea and coffee making facilities in our room were very welcomed. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. The breakfast was nice on the first... We fell on here by accident out for a ride in the country, youre somehow drawn in by the traditional country pub feel. The real ale is WELL kept and cheap compared to town prices and the pub has a lovely warm feeling. Didnt eat but the food they were bringing out looked lovely, next time were over this way... More

We booked this online while driving down the road looking for a place to stay near York. The price was right and the location was convenient. The owners were absolutely wonderful people and very friendly. The room was comfortable and the room we had was quite large with a bathroom included. The rooms are behind the restaurant. We also had... More

I chose this village pub, because it sounded what we were looking for, and it certainly lived up to expectation. We were welcomed and made to feel at home. The rooms were spacious and well laid out, clean with fresh towels and bedding. Although the bar was quite busy, there was no noise to disturb an early night. Breakfast was tasty... More

Not the best public house B&B we have stayed in but by no means the worst. Scores high on friendly landlord and staff. Room 3 was clean and comfortable with all facilities but somewhat dated. The rural location reflects in the peace and quiet, Food is good and the Yorkshire traditional breakfast is both tasty and filling. We were very... More

Made welcome from arrival, this was the day of the annual Gymkhana and could have been a bad experience, living in a village we know folks can be very inclusive - this was not the case, we were made very welcome throughout the night by everyone, staff and villagers alike. The room was one of the most pleasant we have... More

We stayed here as there was no other accommodation available for overflow from a wedding at a nearby spa hotel. We were a bit disappointed by how dated the place was given the price but it was clean and had everything we needed. We weren't up in time for breakfast as it was a little bit early after a late...
