Yangsum Heritage Farm, is true to its name. It has been run and built slowly over a few generations. The host, Thendup is resourceful and helpful person. The farm is cut away from the small quaint town of Rinchenpong. It is spread over a large-ish area where they grow some fruits, buckwheat and vegetables and also have some animals and other farm folk living on the land. There are beautiful little walks and treks that possible in every direction. The staff at this farm/homestay were really nice, polite and warm. They have a local cook/chef who prepared fresh, home-cooked food which was delicious. They would make 1-2 local items and add in more Indian food prepared in the local way - I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. The best part was that all the rooms and cabins were made in wood in a local style of architecture. And most of the walls have family photos and heirlooms that are displayed for everyone to see. 1 thing that would make the stay better is a guide who could take us for interactive nature walks and also help us communicate and meet local people. I would also like to know more about the history of the family and a guided tour of the farm, family photos etc. which would give some insight into the people and their lives in this region.…
Travelled there during late APR & early MAY, looking for some time away from crowds and a peaceful time in the mountains. And this place did not disappoint !! Its a lovely farm stay run by Mr. Thendup. There are plenty of walking trails around, opportunities for birding, and hikes to the local monasteries through farms and thick trees. Food was good, and me and my family had a great time there. Rooms (wooden cottages) were large and clear bathrooms. Highly recommended...
We stayed for two nights in this heritage farm. The place has lot of activities to do and walking trails to cover. Mr Bhutia is exceptional with his hospitality. He makes sure your stay is comfortable and worth while. The food is awesome and we tried real Sikkimese food there and we were very happy the way it was prepared. This farm is all about tranquility and peace. This is away from main tourist spots and that is why we liked it so much. We could see lot of birds there as well. The best part of the stay was spectacular view of the highest peak of Kanchenjunga from our room balcony. Thank you Mr Bhutia for your hospitality.
Sight seeing in Sikkim can be hectic with lot of time in cabs. Beautiful places but one needs to have stomach for long rides on winding mountain roads. After hectic sight seeing Gangtok and Lachen, we chose this homestay... to relax and recover before heading back home. And my choice of the place did not disappoint. It turned out be fabulous place middle of a farm. The cottage allocated to us on first floor was big with 2 king beds, sofa on the side with equally big sitout. On a clear day you can get a view of Kanchenjunga range. Host was always ready to help and very hospitable. As we reached during lunch time, we had food laid out in the front lawn. Food was excellent and setting made it even better. All thru our stay food was great with local sikkimese cuisine included. We enjoyed our stay will definitely come back.…
An offbeat experience. Wonderful host and staff, simple rooms, lovely view of the Kanchenjunga and awesome local food. As mentioned- if you like offbeat holidays with nature, views and hiking trails this is the place. About 4 hours drive from Bagdogra. Mr Tashi- the host arranges everything for you - including the car pick up from the airport.
We spent 5 nights at the farm. Serene, homely and rejuvenating. Good break from the noise and the pace of Bombay. We loved the place, comfortable, very clean rooms, lovely view of the mountains, and lots of Greenery. Thendup is an amazing host, always ready to help, the food is lovely with loads of fresh greens picked from the farm. Manisha the chef dishes out some lovely food, cooked home style. Range of local meats cooked to perfection. Don't forget to do the trek with Darshan, with Tyson. Darshan is Sweet and bright lad.
The stay at Yangsum gave us the best location, home cooked food and the Kanchengunga surrounded the skyline. The food was traditional Sikkimese and Indian cuisine. Mr Bhutia was an amazing host who also took us for a long walk into the forest and a traditional village. The rooms are very comfortable and service was excellent ...a 2 or 3 night stay will rejuvenate you and give you an unparalled experience.
The place is very beautiful, clean and many things to explore.they have their own forest, farm. The view of Kanchanjungha from this property also amazing.we love the room, food, service everything.we just love the place the nature and surroundings. The owner of this property Mr.Thendhup Bhutia is very helpful and gentle person. This place is truly for Naturelover.
We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. The accommodations were very good, the food was excellent and the owner - Mr Tasheelay - was very present and was even our guide for a forest walk. The views of Mt Kanchenjunga and the range in the morning are spectacular . A real nice place to relax!
This place is a home far away from home in the middle of lush green and always protected by Kanchenjunga. The owner is a lovely person, takes care about his guests and is showing them the property, explaining about the history etc. . He is growing all vegetable and fruits on the farm, 100% organic and this you smell and taste --- the kitchen is wonderful, we liked the food very much. Thendrup also has organized our excellent guide, driver( and car) who picked us up at the airport Badogra. We were staying at the round bungalow and enjoyed this feeling very much. As we came in October of course you have be dressed according to the wether conditions as it can be quiite chilly in the night. A wonderful experience, highly recommended to this you want to explore West-Sikkim.
