Lanelay Hall Hotel & Spa earns high marks for comfort and style in its rooms, with impeccable cleanliness that guests often applaud. The service stands out, with the staff's personalized attention frequently highlighted, especially for celebratory occasions. While the spa and dining options are popular for their relaxing qualities, some visitors mention additional costs as a drawback.
The hotel's atmosphere is generally inviting, although concerns about spa overcrowding and room temperature have been noted. Despite its serene location, guests sometimes question the value due to extra charges.

What a beautiful hotel & spa tucked away in the middle of a housing estate! However, Once you drive through the gates you would never know that! The Hotel has been so tastefully renovated! Every where you looked there was some ornament/painting or chandelier that caught your eye!
The staff were amazing! So friendly and attentive and they had so much time for you! It was a service that made you feel special.
We had a spa day & stay over together with a meal in the restaurant.
I have visited a few spas over the years but this was very tastefully done. Very relaxing & the treatment was wonderful!
We stayed in the Clock Tower room 3. Very airy with open Beamed ceiling & very comfortable bed!
The service in the restaurant was fabulous & the food was delicious.
I’d like to thank William, Brandon & Ffion for looking after us. Looking forward to revisiting & eating in the newly refurbished restaurant!
Would highly recommend the Hotel & Spa!!

Have to say from start to finish this was a brilliant experience. The staff at reception were very friendly as were the waitresses in the restaurant. The spa is beautiful and the outside pool has such an lovely feeling. The massage was lovely, they really took their time and the masseuse made me feel so relaxed. The whole of spa staff were friendly and approachable making sure you had everything we needed.
The staff took everything off your hands meaning you could just relax and have no worries.
The COVID guidance they had in place was brilliant. Lots of Hand sanitiser stations and the spa limited in numbers making you feel safe and happy to use the facilities.
We started with food and although the menu changed was fresh and very tasty. The food was also served in good time.
We were in a room in the clock tower and well what can I say. I lovely spacious room with a nice large tv on the wall. The bed was very comfortable and having a king was luxurious.
It’s in a great location with limited external noise leaving us to have a nice sleep waking up feeling nicely rested. It is also about 30 minutes to Cardiff Bay/centre which was ideal if you wanted to leave the hotel for an evening.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will defiantly be booking a 2nd stay along with using the spa facilities.

We stayed here after the post lockdown opening and were really impressed at the hygiene measures put in place throughout the hotel. We were welcomed and checked in by a friendly, professional member of staff. We stayed in the beautiful lougher suite which had a bath in the bedroom area situated by the window overlooking some of the garden area and entrance/car park. The room and en suite were cleaned to a very high standard. It was a nice bonus to see the hotel provided conditioner and body lotion along with the usual shampoo, shower gel and soap. We had a fully replenished refreshments tray with plenty of tea bags, white and demerara sugar, uht milk pots, normal nescafe and decaffeinated nescafe sachets along with 2 glass bottles of water. At such a luxurious hotel that offers a little more than others we have stayed in, it would have been an added bonus if we were provided with a cafetiere as I am a filter coffee lover but I understand that most people are more than happy with instant and also there is fresh coffee available to purchase at the bar. We stayed on a very hot night so seeing a large fan upon arriving in the room was an absolute god send.
We dined elsewhere so couldn't comment on the food or restaurant. We did have a few drinks in the beautiful garden which was well lit up and so peaceful with quiet relaxing music in the background. The bar staff were friendly and offered fast efficient service. We had a lovely night sleep in the comfortable bed and we also enjoyed the smart telly giving us access to Now TV and Netflix!
We had the most wonderful evening and look forward to visiting lanelay hall again.

My wife and I decided to see in the New Year by staying locally at Lanelay Hall and enjoying their New Years eve dinner and celebrations.
On arrival at about 3pm we were shown to our room, which was beautifully decorated and furnished, with impressive lighting options available adding atmosphere. The bedroom was very comfortable, with a neat dressing area and tea, coffee, water and biscuits provided.
The bathroom was large and modern with an excellent shower. Towels and toiletries were good quality.
This being a black tie function it was lovely to see everyone had made special effort , which added to the excitement and festive spirit of this New Years eve celebration.
In the bar we received a large glass of bubbly and plentiful and tasty canapés.
We were called to the dining room where the tables were beautifully dressed.
The six course dinner was magnificent.........one of the best New Years eve dinners we have had in our worldwide travels over the years. Many thanks and congratulations the Chef and his team.
Both the hotel and restaurant staff were very professional,. friendly and good humoured which really added to the fun and excitement of the evening.
After dinner there was dancing in the bar area to live music from a first class band.
What a memorable and enjoyable way to welcome in the New Year.
The following morning we had a wonderful breakfast, with plenty of choices all freshly cooked and prepared by the chef in the open plan kitchen.
Grateful thanks to all at Lanelay Hall for ensuring that we welcomed in 2020 in style.

From the moment we arrived the service was outstanding, we came for Valentines night and it did not disspoint. The room was beautifully decorated with a freestanding bath which was so unique to anywhere else we have stayed.
The food was to die for, we choose the leg of lamb and it was that tasty I could have eaten it all over again.
The pool area is just stunning and so relaxing, with the swing chairs and greenery overlooking the garden.
The staff can't do enough for you and are all so nice and friendly.
We would definately reccomend staying hwre and we will also be returning, worth every penny.

My partner and I recently stayed at Lanelay Hall for an anniversary getaway and were absolutely blown away by the aesthetics of the hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted by one of the receptionists called Rachel, who was extremely approachable, patient, friendly and went out of her way to make our stay perfect for us. We stayed in a deluxe suite, with a gorgeously comfortable king size bed and situated in the centre of the room under the natural lighting of the window stood a free standing bath (big enough for the 2 of us). Each day we enjoyed making use of the facilities, especially the breathtaking indoor pool. We found complete tranquility in the tribe spa from the calm decor and zen atmosphere. We were continuously greeted with warm smiles in all areas of the hotel, as we visited the bar and different restaurants/lounges. The hotel itself, is only 25-30 minutes drive from the centre of Cardiff and is about £30 in a taxi. There is also a vineyard 10 minutes away and Brecon Beacons is only a 40 minute drive. Highly recommend visiting all of those places. Ensure you book the spa experience/treatments in advance to avoid disappointment.

We generally enjoyed our stay at Lanelay Hall. We were surprised that it sits in the middle of a newish housing estate, but that didn’t make too much difference while you’re there. The inside of the hotel is beautiful and very tastefully designed. The staff were very friendly and we had a lovely welsh tapas meal in the restaurant.
On the down side the pool was cold when we went for a swim. Plus you have to walk through a busy bar in your robes to get to the spa/pool, which is very embarrassing.
Our room (44) was lovely but it had adjoining doors to room next to it. Although these were locked they weren’t very soundproof and we were woken by the screaming baby staying next door several times!
Breakfast the next morning was really tasty, although a little on the pricey side at £15 each. We were annoyed to queue for 15 mins to checkout because there’s only one person and one computer doing checkouts. When I asked she said it was like this everyday at checkout time, which would beg the question of why don’t they do something about? Stagger the checkout times or get someone else helping or something. Seemed a bit crazy.
But overall a really nice stay, they just need to fix some minor but irritating issues.

Our daughters booked an afternoon tea for my husband (and I) for Father's Day, and although living close, (and not used any of the facilities previously), were nicely surprised by what was on offer. The 'tea' was so nice (including the gluten free option, that was requested beforehand for my husband), and confirmed by a member of staff, when we arrived. When the refreshments were served, (which were very well displayed and presented), we were informed of every item and what is was. Everything was 'different' the (4) sandwiches (no butter on bread however!), were a very good size, and the contents exactly as requested - and the (4) cakes - all I can say is ... they were amazing, and so mouth watering and not too small, (even the gluten free options). Although not looking a lot to eat, half way through, we knew we would not be able to eat everything, and would be taking some home.
The service was very good, and all needs were catered for on request. At the time of our visit there were only two tables being used, which made us feel comfortable,
as we mostly still wears masks when we visit public places. (Non of the staff serving, were wearing masks). The only drawback of the afternoon was the latte coffee we requested, which we wanted before the tea arrived, had to be paid for separately, although a jug (which each of us had later), of freshly brewed coffee, was included in the afternoon tea cost. It was lucky my husband had taken his wallet!
The staff were attentive to customer needs, and kept the cafe area clean, and cleared tables quickly. The area/surroundings we visited, were very tastefully decorated. All in all 8/10 .......

Honestly this is the best hotel I have been at, I have stayed in a number of high end hotels in my time but this wins it by far. I am local the area in which shocked me such a stunning place was here. From the outside grounds to the court yard inside, swimming pool, spa sections and of course the rooms (Master Edwards Suite) this was stunning. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was safe to say she was massively impressed with his and her sinks in the room, Super Kingsize Bed, His and Her Showers and a very large room. Service was next to none with a lovely warm welcome, quick show around and offer of services to hand. Asking for Ice & a Bucket got brought to us in no time at all, we later forgot the time due to enjoying everything that we forgotten to eat but the kitchens were closed. This wasn't a problem as the young lade on the front desk had no problem offering us to go to the shop or anywhere local to buy us something, what a great touch she truly made our night by offering that as it didn't leave us hungry. I think the pictures speak for itself at the end of the day. Comparing this to hotels I have stayed in which have been nearly double the cost of the main room I will and always still say it this is by far the best all round. Well done Lanelay's. We will be returning!

Booked for a night in the Hardwick suite which in itself was lovely apart from the blocked drain in the shower. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately food in the restaurant was where the cracks started to evidently show. To begin with we ordered our drinks, when are drinks arrived a waiter who wasn’t very steady poured our drink all over our table which took a while to clean up and should have only needed a roll of tissue instead of a piece by piece clean up. The food menu didn’t have much choice, I ordered bread which wasn’t on the menu and we was brought two slices cut in half to make 4, which was in itself dry following the fact we had no butter given to us. The food in itself was awful, the steak was £40 which was left as it was so dry and tasteless along with the watery peppercorn sauce and the cod was also tasteless, neither meals were finished.. this wasn’t acknowledged and we was clearly dissatisfied so left the table (after a long wait or not touching our food) and asked to add the bill to the room on the way out with our plates still sitting there practically full of food. We also ordered room service twice, only on the second occasion were we notified of a service charge for this. The spa in itself is nice but nothing really too it apart from it being pretty, also think it’s bad that the time is limited for guests as it leaves you sitting in your room for most of the day as the hotel is in the middle of a housing estate.
I think the food is overpriced and they are trying to hard to the point they can’t cook to an enjoyable edible standard.
