Detailed Reviews
3 night stay in this beautiful place. Our cottage, overlooking the quiet side of Lake Verbanad was lovely. The quality and attention to detail in the design and decoration was visible everywhere. Huge comfortable bed, lovely outdoor bathroom with luxury products and linens. The Cottage had a large shaded private terrace built over the water with wicker sun beds and dining table to enjoy the beautiful views. All meals were served on the terrace; the food was all delicious, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. The chef discusses the menu with you daily and it is cooked to your taste. No alcohol license but they were happy to serve your own (there’s a fridge in the room). Breakfast was cooked to order with a good selection.
Anish and his team looked after us brilliantly - nothing was too much trouble. The service is both friendly and discreet.
This is a wonderful relaxing place to stay, very private with only 4 rooms, amazing views and lovely helpful staff. Our favourite place in Kerala.

If you are looking for some quiet time in idyllic surroundings look no further than Ameya. On the shore of the less developed side of Vembanad Lake this place is a haven of tranquility. Anish and his staff do a wonderful job of looking after you from the moment you arrive. Our rooms had a private deck area as shown in the photos, air conditioning, outdoor shower and all the things you would expect like a safe and fridge etc. Apart from the grounds though it is the food and level of service that sets this place apart. There is a great light lunch selection with numerous soft drinks available. Evening meals are also available and all reasonably priced. The chef does a great job. We even had duck eggs from their own ducks for breakfast. This place was a great way to end our Indian holiday. Thank you Anish and all your fantastic staff.

It is one of the most beautiful hotels that i have ever visited. The most quiet ,calm, serene place besides a lake. Just 11/2 hrs from the Kochi airport, its very easy to reach. Just has 4 cottages, special attention is given to each and every guest. You can spend all day in this place relaxing without getting bored.
Special thanks to the chef who prepared such delicious local delicacies and the manager who took care of all our needs .

The booking done was cancelled at the last moment by telling us that the support staff got covid. If that was genuine, then we can understand. But they just wanted to cancel our booking to accommodate some other booking. While I can’t comment about how beautiful or VFM, this property is. I can tell one thing. Please don’t trust this people if you are booking online.
We booked the property in the beginning of December for the New Year’s Eve and made all our travel plans based on this booking. On 29th December, We got a call from the manager of Ameya property saying that Kerala health department has asked them to shut the property since three of their in house staff got covid. We didn’t have an option since that seemed to be a genuine reason. We searched a lot to find another available resort and as luck would have it, another property (vismaya-review will be written for this) got their booking cancelled since people from Delhi couldn’t travel. So they accepted ours. Vismaya is right opposite to Ameya across the lake and hence from there, Ameya was visible to us. After reaching the resort, we realized that Ameya is not shut and there are guests there. When we tried to reach the manager over phone, he again lied saying they got other staff and hence reopened. When we asked more, he just cut our call.
Bottom line. Bookings with Ameya can’t be trusted and hence if you are making bookings from far away places, just keep this in mind. I would never suggest this place for anyone.

We stayed in the garden cottage for 2 nights in early February. Lovely cottage without much of a view, although the small sitting out area could be improved- the table and chairs were sat on the grass and it became very muddy when it rained.
In my opinion it would be worth paying extra fro the lake view cottages, unfortunately they were already booked when we booked. They looked stunning, with huge verandas directly overlooking the lake - lovely spot for meals and relaxing.
All the staff were lovely and the manager Anish was very friendly and helpful, arranging trips etc for us. The vegetarian food was good and presented beautifully.
Lovely pool.
We would love to return.

I was spending time together with two friends at Amritara Ameya and we were so relaxed afterwards. Very nice location, clean and high standard facilities and friendly staff that made you feel at home. There is just four cottages/rooms in total which makes your stay very private. The manager Anish is very kind and help you to make your stay the best.

We checked in for 2 nights 27th to 29th October to bring in my birthday. The arrival experience and location was brilliant, however what followed was horrible.
We had booked their most expensive cottage room as it was a special occasion however at 3 am we heard some noises in the room and we found 2 rats running around the room and on the ceiling beams. Needless to say, we were shocked and could not sleep anymore. If this wasn’t enough we discovered bugs on our bedsheets as well.
We had enough and cut our stay short and checked out at 6 am and shifted to Coconut Lagoon! There were no staff on premises when we were leaving and the response was so cold from their team as if they are used to having these complaints.
A sleepless start to my birthday! Disappointing and will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone! They need to get their hygiene and pest control practices in place.

This place is magical. We spent five incredibly relaxing days here for an extended family holiday with six adults and four children. The rooms and communal spaces are beautifully done, the gardens are lovely and there’s a stunning view over the lake- from your private terrace or from the pool. The food (we chose to have many variations of extremely local fish and vegetables) is fantastic. Most of all though it’s the staff who really make the experience memorable. Anish, the manager, and his team are warm and welcoming, never intrusive and, if you’re curious, full of insights into Keralan life. If we could go back to Ameya tomorrow, we all would.

We found Paradise at our epic stay in “Gods own country”
This eco-friendly boutique villa, set in the idyllic backwater village of Varanad - the quintessence of luxury nestled in the heart of Kerala's serene backwaters at Ameya.
When the hand carved heavy wooden doors creaked open we could NOT believe our eyes! A magical green sanctuary, alive with tropical birdlife (parrots of all different colors😍) and hundreds of butterflies set against the backdrop of the majestic Vembanad backwaters.
The managers Nataraja and Anish with their smiling kind hearted team of ladies crept into our hearts forever. We were served the most exquisitely prepared curries in keeping with the vegan satvic diet we have grown to love!
The property has the most beautiful yoga shala I have ever seen and we were treated to two blissful morning yoga clases by a local yoga master Rojo Robert🧘🏻♀️♥️
We had the entire estate to ourselves - two most perfect days and only left for a short trip to the adjacent village … the people here are kind and helpful and we felt incredibly safe, strangers were so pleased to welcome us to their village, it was heartwarming 🙏🏼
Feeling immensly blessed✨ and off onto our next adventure, a two day houseboat tour on the Backwaters♥️

Today I was sad to leave Ameya villa…it felt like home here, not to mentioned all really lovely, attentive staffs here…especially Anish, who is a villa manager. He has been so kind to me helping arranging everything I asked for, a boat ride, taxi, cooking class etc…This place has a character and attention to details in every Conner. I had nothing but the best from here. Highly recommended!
