Firstly I am disgusted with laterooms.com for advertising this establishment. I will never use this facility again if this is the standard of the accommodation they are content to promote!

Don't stay here, please. I have read humorous posts about this pace but it was not funny and do not make light of it! It was horrendous.

I had to attend a family funeral so needed to stay somewhere. The NATO summit on so no accommodation elsewhere to be had. Needs must. All we wanted was a clean room to sleep in for the night.

We arrived 9.30pm; the reception and bar were closed; we had left by 10.00pm as it was so bad to try and find somewhere else or sleep in the car.

The room was filthy. The quilt cover was dirty. The bottom sheet had stains on it. Looked like faeces as well as pubic hairs! The pillows were stained with dirty sweat/dirt stain.

The towels were ready to be washed not just come from the wash! My wife was bitten on the ankle by something within minutes of arriving. This is not a hotel it is a hovel and I dare then owner to sue me for slander!

Apparently the place is well known to be an establishment used by prostitutes and is a DSS half way house. High charges, low facilities.

This was probably one of the most memorable hotels I have stayed in, the staff are very friendly but the place is just rough! The rooms are very tired, carpets filthy, and shower cold. We stayed here for the U2 concert and when the taxi driver picked us up he asked why we had chosen such a rough hotel wit others on offer! We avoided breakfast as we thought that best so cannot comment on the food. We paid £49 per room and for that price a travelodge would be better. We sould have known when we saw a sign for home of the whatever bikers it would not be good!

Come come chaps,Dawn to Dusk is a bit severe in my mind.If I had to compare a film or TV show to Scotts Hotel,it would be somewhere in between Crossroads and Breakfast at the Ritz with a big dollop of Jamie Olivers excellent cooking show mixed in surely?
Upon my arrival,I was quickly and efficiently booked in by the lovely and very friendly receptionist whilst the porter removed my luggage from my vehicle and took them to my suite on the 1st floor. He was resplendent in Beddau`s standard uniform consisting of a Railtrack Hi Vis jacket, combat trousers, steel toecap boots decorated with a mixture of paint & cement and an `I`ve been to the Everglades` T shirt with the Everglades crossed out and `Ponty park` written by hand in its place in red marker pen.
Sitting jauntily on his head was a flat cap, called a `Dai Cap` locally so I`m informed, and sat squarely in the middle of his head wear was a yellow post it adhesive note with `HEAD PORTER`written in crayon. Some jolly fellow had at some stage crossed out `PORTER` and substituted `CASE` in its place. How I chuckled at that one ho ho ho.
The view from my suite was magnificent and took my breath away. The mid-morning sun spread down the side of the Garth mountain pausing only to reflect off the weather polished Tennants Super Duper extra lager tin mountain (constructed in just 1 day by the inmates of the nearby Criminally Insane open prison to a height of 35 ft and base 23 ft wide using only 2 days worth of discarded Tennants cans) and from the top of the now defunct Hazardous waste landfill sites Porta Loo in all directions.A kaleidoscope could not have competed with this sensory delight that filled my vision.
My suite was spacious, spotlessly clean and offered me the very latest in technology that Beddau had to offer, why I believe my Amstrad Spectrum ZX 64 computer was only installed that very morning. The Linoleum on the floor was way in advance of anything I had seen anywhere else.It was made entirely from the pubic hair only found around the testicles of Grey Squirrels between the ages of 7 and 9 months old and keeps the old tootsies warm in the chill of the morning I`m reliably informed.
I then showered and dressed for dinner. The space age design of the shower was designed to be totally enviromentally friendly and had to be drawn from the submerged well miles below the surface in a stainless(mostly)steel bucket as you were sat in the shower on a converted exercise bike. The bucket then reached the top of the pulley where it hovered briefly over half a dozen Holy Communion candle stubs before the pulley stop discharged the bucket contents over the converted bicycle where you were seated.Quite a brilliant and efficient process designed to give users a Cardio Vascular work out,be environmentally friendly and let the user swill down their`working parts`at the same time.Power Shower?Bah humbug, who needs them.

Showered and attired in my DJ,I proceeded to the Great Hall to enjoy my dinner.
My apperatif consisted of a few glasses of a locally brewed white wine referred to by the locals as `Kin ell` or something that sounds close to that.It must have been named after an ancient Welsh Bard or something.
I ordered for starters Ratatoille with Tail, main course was a closely guarded receipe for an exquisite dish I had never heard of but very popular with the locals,Spam fritters with spliced potatoes and alphabet spaghetti the Welsh version naturally.A side dish of Lava bread made from an underwater farming area just a tad away from the outfall main pipe in Aberthaw brazed in Cardiff Foreshore relish and topped with HP sauce. My dessert was filling and delicious and called Baked Abergavenny. It consisted of a portion of Madeira cake, topped with cold semolina and crushed Pot Noodle.A feast fit for Royalty.
My luck was in as the Maitre `D informed me that tonight was the opening night for the Topless Waitress extravaganza. Enid my waitress did very well indeed as the only waitress designated to serve topless but I must admit that if the choice were mine and not the Entertainment Managers,I would not have selected a lady in excess of 62 years of age who suffered from Tourettes and extreme flatulence, had `Love`and `Hate` tattooed around each nipple in Indian ink and had forgotten her false teeth.Still,it`s a matter of personal choice.

After my meal, washed down with a few Brandies, and finished off with a lovely cigar from the bar made by dusky (almost)virgins in a village far far away called Gilfach Goch, the Security manager,Nigel Darkie a fanatical Swansea City football fan escorted me to my suite for a well deserved rest.

Room and furniture shabby without the chic. The room was freezing cold (I visited at the end of February), no central heating, just a small plug-in electric heater. No sockets to plug in the heater to warm the bathroom. "Hot" water tepid at best, and when I complained I was told "it had a long way to come" and "someone would come and have a look". Clearly this never happened otherwise the problem would have been obvious and thus rectified. After five minutes of running the hot tap, there was still no hot running water. I left the heater on when I went out to try to raise the temperature in the room but came back to find it had been switched off. I did however, get another heater after I requested one, but bathroom remained freezing cold due to no sockets nearby to plug in the heater. I was asked what time I wanted breakfast and when I went down next morning, the premises were locked. A passing man rang the owner on my behalf to say I was waiting outside. I paid a premium for this room "because of the rugby", so was even less impressed. However, the bathroom and the sheets were clean, though the mattress didn't have a cover and was lumpy and uncomfortable. I wrote to the owners approximately one month ago, but have never received a reply. I don't expect to.

Situated next to a petrol station and behind a Chinese restaurant that has bars on the windows! That's the first clue that this place was going to be bad.
Arrived at the 'reception', to find no one around. A woman then arrived and said there had been a problem with the bookings and ours had not been confirmed. (Was very pleased at this news). However, on her request to look at the booking diary, I was disheartened to see our name was actually there.
Asked for a key to view the room before deciding to stay - our room was number 12, at the end of the top row of 6. Walked up the dirty, rusty outside staircase to find a large metal cigarette ashtray outside the door full of fag butts (every room has one of these!).
Wooden door looked like the lock had been broken in to at some point. Entered the room and was quite pleasantly surprised. However, further inspection found a dirty plastic cup in the bathroom, cigarette burns in the carpet on the floor and the window was open, hinting at a quick airing of the room before next arrivals. Had a sneaking suspicion that the sheets were not clean and after a quick sniff, confirmed that the bed had fairly recently been vacated by a sweaty, unclean person who obviously smoked.
Turned around and left that room without a backward glance!
Went to hand key back in to reception but, again, no one there. Left it on desk and made a hasty exit to find another, clean, hotel.
Reception area was ramshackle and grubby, at best. A brief look in the bar area found groups of drunken males playing pool. 'Garden' outside also awful.
Car park was full of vans and cars so there was nowhere to park even had we wanted to stay.
Upon arrival at another local hotel and our conversation with the owners of our unfortunate visit to Scotts Hotel, it emerged that the hotel is used by DHSS tenants who are placed here before being housed.
All in all, this place is disgusting and I would not recommend that ANYONE stay here, especially if you have children.

I’ve been staying here since 2000, 20 years! And it’s my favourite place to stay! The staff are helpful, the breakfast is yummy and the rooms are comfy!! I’ll stay here every time I’m in the area! Every time I’ve stayed the rooms have been perfectly clean, too - just in response to some saying their rooms were not!

Small budget hotel so we weren't expecting anything spectacular. The room was small although very clean and no smell as mentioned in the other reviews. We paid £49 on a bank holiday weekend with full breakfast included so you can't knock the price. If you want something fancier then pay more for a more upmarket hotel, if you just want something cheap and clean then Scotts will more than suffice

this place is hidden off the road, resembles a motel from a horror movie, room doors don't lock properly, beds are awful and dirty. showers rarely work.
I had the misfortune of staying here twice (I didn't book it)
Only good point are the girls who work the restaurant and the breakfast. Rooms are plain terrible

Arrived at 9:30pm after dreadful drive to find no one at reception, however this was due to the evening staff also managing the bar. We had a lovely welcome and were given the key to our room. This is basic and needed some minor repairs. However it was clean and the bed was comfy. The bar is used by the locals and is lively, drinks are cheap. Smashing breakfast in the morning. Every member of staff was friendly, all seemed to enjoy their work and we were made to feel very welcome. Dog friendly. For just £48 a night for a double room with full English breakfast you can't expect luxury. If you're looking for a cheap place to crash where you'll be made welcome this is the place.
