The perfect getaway to Shitlakhet and the Kumaon hills this summer. Spend your time at Nayalap in the hammock under the great oak trees. Or go visit a creek nearby. Or savour the cold soups at the camp. Or go for a hike into the many different forests nearby. Or see the sun set all beautiful and orange. Or just simply sleep. All of us want to do that. Stay at Nayalap this summer and discover Kumaon like none other.

Nayalap is a 10hr drive from Delhi and is characterised by the silence punctuated by the sound of birds. It's a great place to bring your kids and just let them be. Let them discover the joys of discovering new shapes of leaves, new insects, new birds, new plants, discovering a new space and all the layers it hides in itself.

I always want to chose place which is away from the madness of city life and also away from crowd. While searching for a place where I can be in nature, I bumped upon a beautiful place at Shitlakhet which is nearly 22 km from Ranikhet, a popular destination at Kumaon. While looking at their website, I was already impressed but I will called the owner and Tanuja, the owner shared me a great details including a brief route map from Delhi , as I was traveling via car. When I reached there, I was like "wow". That's exactly is the place which I was looking for. Nestled within a mini forest like plantations, it has 4 luxurious and spacious tents and a beautiful dining area in the open. The tents are very comfortable and also the good enough for a family of 2 with a kid. The resort has open spaces where one can roam around, or do yoga and also take small hikes in the nearby hills. Tanuja and her husband Anindya has really made the place very warm with their hospitality and they are trying to ensure the local village people gets some good exposure to tourism industry by generating jobs. The staffs are extremely courteous and the food is amazingly awesome. The local kumaoni cuisine can be requested there for your taste buds. For dog lovers, you will meet with Elsa and she is a darling and very friendly. The place has its own charm in different seasons while the best time is Oct November and also March April May and June. The owners can guide you to the short jokes in the mountains and forest and owner herself will accompany you in those beautiful trails and she has a vast knowledge of the place and the plantation there. I will strongly suggest to all nature loves to visit this place in your kumaon visit if you want stay offbeat and stay within nature.

Mere words cannot describe the amazing hospitality of Nayalap. The ever smiling Chandan Ji, Prem Ji and Deepak Ji took such good care of us we felt like we were visiting family. The tents are luxurious with amenities comparable to any five star hotel. The views are stunning with the Panchachuli peaks visible on clear days. The sheer variety, taste and quality of the food served were awesome. In Bengali the word Palayan means escape and Nayalap, an anagram, is the perfect place to escape from the stress of urban life. Another huge appeal is the super friendly puppy Elsa, who will not only play with you but will guide you on your hikes. We will definitely go back again.

Spacious tents, gracious host and delicious food summed up our 4 nights stay at Nayalap. Extra points for tweaking the menu with local food and chutney on request. Tanuja has good knowledge of the local history, vegetation and birds so the walks in nature and the bacillary were very interesting and informative. The views from the cottages on clear days were breathtaking. The attached photos don’t do justice too. And the fact that there are limited accommodation/ tents means there is lot of open spaces in between for strolls.

Me & my wife stayed at Nayalap between 18-21st December 2022. Nayalap is a luxurious glamping experience in the midst of nature of Kumaon region. It offers us with mountain life, quite streets, good home cooked food with pahadi delicacies, simple culture, amazing hospitality and a very comfortable stay.   The property has a very rustic and authentic look; every single corner of the property has been done very thoughtfully; artificial small hangings placed on the tress makes it very beautiful, the common area is décored in a very tasteful manner with small pine cones hanging, just loved the placed.  The tents at Nayalap are very spacious, very well maintained, having all necessary amenities. We've witnessed the dining table within the tent for the first time and found it to be very useful; there were electric blankets which made the bed more comfortable. One would have everything that is needed for the stay. The key staff Chandan and the cook Prem, left no stone unturned to provide the best of the services in all possible manner; just a call away and they are there with a smile, always.   The owner, Tanuja, is very sweet and down to earth. She ensured to spend substantial quality time with us over our stay of 3 nights, she took us for forest walks, village walks and that too with no rush in mind, gave us the time as much as we needed. Her helpful nature and urge to do something for the village, was very evident as she interacted with villagers she met across while on the walk. She enabled us with lot of knowledge sharing on the traditional houses, culture, etc.   It was my wife’s birthday as well and she made our day more special by her incredible gestures; placing a surprise on the dining table, getting a home baked raagi chocolate cake in the evening, getting the lighting done on the trees at the bon fire place; it was so unexpected and made me feel very special.   We loved every bit of the property and made lot of good memories. We wish to visit the place sometime in summers as well! Thanks Tanuja for making our stay so comfortable and memorable!!   Highly recommend the place to family and friends, especially for the hosts and the staff.

Nayalap is situated the tranquil Kumaon region. The drive via Ranikhet is scenic and mesmerizing. We spent the whole day lazing around listening to brid songs and chasing butterflies. But what really takes the cake is the amazing hospitality and locally sourced food. It was refreshing to munch on these local delicacies prepared to perfection. Would definitely recommend visiting this amazing place. We had a nice little surprise waiting for us on our dinning table. Visit Nayalap and find out.
