Staying at Couvaloup is like going to visit a tasteful, eccentric good friend. Laurent is warm and welcoming. His house is beautifully renovated and full of little treasures. Every corner of the house is considered and curated. We arrived on the day of a cold front so couldn't make use of the pool but the crackling fire in the lounge...

Here we are in the western cape and what do we find but a little bit of the Mediterranean courtesy of expatriate Frenchman Laurant. He took over a Victorian house and converted it to a very comfortable guest house in a stunning garden where he and Precious turn on an outstanding evening including great dinner by the fireside. There are...

This is not your normal stay B&B. The house has a lot of history and the owner - Laurent will share it gladly. Great view from the stoep over the river to the town of Hopefield. The rooms are spacious - some with an outside bathroom. If you want something different and interesting - spend some time at Couvaloup.

Laurent is the fabulous host & owner of this eclectically styled guest house. Each room is originally decorated with flare. I stayed in the barn, one of two rooms, the Leather Room- very quiet and cosy. The room was minimalistic but had all that one requires. Loved the bathroom interior. We stayed for dinner and were served a delicious 3-course...

In only 1,5 hours drive we found ourselves in a little paradise where Laurant and 'manager of the house' Precious gave us a warm welcome. The dinners on the veranda...

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Couvaloup recently while travelling along the West Coast of the Cape. The house is beautiful, in a wonderful location and is well decorated. There is a lovely pool area with a view of the town. The bedroom we stayed in was clean but you unfortunately have to share the sitting room, chairs and...

Couvaloup is a treat for all the senses, the house itself is a beauty, the rooms are beautifully decorated, the pool is glorious, the host charming. I have stayed on a few occasions, winter and summer, and each season has its own delights- roaring fire and reading through the owners collection of fabulous decor magazines in winter, the azure swimming...
