Our room, number 406 on the Sunset side of the Island, was absolutely perfect. It had great facilities, & was clean & very comfortable, with direct access to a beautiful piece of Beach & lovely views of the Indian Ocean. The room was located near enough to reception, Avi Bar & Hiya Restaurant to be convenient, & far enough from Nevi Bar to be quiet. Nevi Bar was occupied with People who appeared to have consumed far too much Alcohol, & it therefore did not feel a comfortable place to be &/or relax; more Marbella than Maldives. Music was also played far too loud, which could be heard in most parts of the Island, & was not a good experience. Other rooms on the Island are adequate, but not as well located, facilitated or thought out as Rooms numbered 401 & upwards. All the Staff on the Island are very friendly, helpful & like to interact, especially the Barman at Avi Bar. This is with the exception of the Staff in Reception; all Staff There were very rude, ignorant & unwilling to help on all occasions. We, & others too, were made to feel as if We were a nuisance. Food at the Hiya Restaurant was varied & always lovely, as it also was in Samuga Restaurant; there is an issue with trying to keep food warm though, so get to the Restaurant as soon as it opens, or put up with cold, soggy food from the warming trays. Deserts are amazing & made on site; a huge variety of Pastries, Cakes, Mousses, Fruits etc. Ice cream is also always available; ask Your Waiter. All-Inclusive is most definitely the way to go on this Island Resort, as items from the Menus are very expensive, as with all other Maldives Resorts, but especially the drinks. Draught Beer is Carlsberg, very Fizzy & not to My taste, so Lion Beer from the Can was much more enjoyable, although They never seemed to have any Cold Cans in the Fridge ! There was a lot of rubbish around the Island, which cannot be helped as it comes in with the Tide, but Someone could care more, & clear it up at least once a Day; rubbish bins are also conspicuous by their absence, in most locations, which would certainly help lessen this problem. Mouldy, green sand bags scattered around the Island also need "attending to" as a slip on one of these was very painful. Generally, a little more maintenance, love & attention to detail would elevate this Island from "Lovely" to "Great", & would probably help gain a few more repeat customers. This really is a lovely Island, which I recommend Anyone tries, although once is probably enough, as others in the same price category offer much better value. There are so many Island Resorts in the Maldives that one doesn`t need to return to the same one, although it is sometimes nice to do just that, when You find one that You are really comfortable with. We have done exactly that quite a few Times over the past 20+ Years but, after careful consideration, We will not be returning to Summer Island.…
We arrived at summer island as a couple, just after spending 10 days at a local Island (Dhigurah). We liked our stay, but we think there is a lot that summer island could easily improve. We will try to give a balanced review of the ups and downs. To start, the rooms are very spacious, very clean, have a nice bathroom. Our superior bungalow at the west (sunset) side of the island had a great view and a lovely beach in front, worth a good snorkle on its own. Downside was the bed, it’s very very hard and just unpleasant to sleep in. Also our room was connected with a double door to the neighbours room, which made it very noisy. Upon complaining, we were offered an other room, which was ok. The wifi all over the island is not fast enough. Impossible to send a short clip with family. The reception area is big, seems luxurious and we were offered a nice drink upon arrival. The reception staff are helpful in a very odd way. There is nothing like a smile, a ‘how was your stay’ or any form trying to connect with the guest. It felt like ‘get out of here asap’. The multiple interactions from check-in to check-out felt very unfriendly (in contrast to the other staff on the island). The restaurants and bars are great and offer tons of options of drinks, food, snacks etc. The staff cannot be appreciated enough. They are truly the best. Always smiling and very friendly. The food is good. Downside here are the prices, drinks and all things not included in your package are very expensive. The coffee is horrible, but unfortunately i needed it. We didn’t always feel comfortable in the bars and around the pool since it’s quite crowded with a lot of people smoking in common areas and sometimes drunk men in de middle of the day. Luckily every room has it’s own relaxing space on the beach, so you could find your own peace easily. Last, the activities. Summer Island offers a great daily and free snorkeling trip. Absolutely worth it: shark, turtle, schools of fish. Bring your own fins and mask to avoid costs. The diving school on the island is insanely expensive. If you want to go diving in Maldives, go to Dhigurah instead would be our advice . The sunset fishing trip was very nice and fairly priced. We got to eat our own red snapper for lunch the day after. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, but we felt that the island was about making money. We would have spend more money if things were more reasonably priced. We want to thank the staff who have made our stay very pleasant, and we would like to ask management to look into our feedback.…
We stayed at Summer Island for a week in May for our wedding anniversary. After looking through so many resorts, I am so glad we chose Summer Island. It is not big, but boy is it beautiful. The beaches are super clean, white sand and the water is crystal clear. We would just be swimming and you could see the fish all around you without even having to snorkel. We were on the sunset side and felt like we had a perfect spot on the beach after walking all around the island. Which you can do in about 15-20 minutes. It was windy, but without the wind it was unbearably hot on the other side of the beach. The water was so warm, even when it rained, we'd stay in the water as long as possible. We were unfortunate with the weather, and did get quiet a lot of rain. Unfortunately there isn't much to do when it does rain. There is a pool table, darts board and foosball table in the Nevi bar so we used these in the evening to kill some time. There was also a DJ one night in the evening as well as live music every now and again. Would be good to plan some entertainment especially when the weather is particularly bad, as we ended up getting bored a bit. The staff are fantastic. Every single one that we came across was friendly, helpful and polite. The hotel organised a cake for our anniversary after dinner and decorated our room while we were out. Really made it special for us. The egg chef at breakfast was brilliant. Always remembered our orders and always welcomed us with a big good morning each day. All the staff work so hard and keep everything in great condition through out the hotel. I would suggest putting in a tip box in the dining hall so that you can share tips between all the kitchen staff too. I felt like everyone tips the waiters but there was so many other in the background that also make it all run so smoothly, it would be good to show appreciation to them all in a way. The wifi worked well throughout the hotel for those that need it. We had full body massages which was really relaxing but beware of additional taxes and service charges which we didn't see so ended up with extra 30-40 dollars on top at the end. There is a small gift shop on the island but must say everything is extortionately priced. Bring with you whatever you think you may need. We got a couple of magnets at $7usd each. Drinks are also pricey, so a soft drink is $4usd each, non alcoholic cocktails between 8-10 usd and then alcohol 20usd ish. I don't drink alcohol so wasn't a problem for us but for those that do, beware. We did the free daily snorkelling trip which was great, must be booked a day in advance. Definitely worth bringing your own mask and flippers. There is lots of beautiful fish right near the beach, so we did that most day, when it wasn't chucking it down. The sun loungers were comfy, and each room gets two. They are numbered, so you can't just use any sun lounger you want. There are some spare without numbers but far and few in between. Water was provided daily in the room which was a godsend as it was so hot and muggy. Towels changed daily. Food was plentiful for us, we had full board and ate at the buffet every day. Always found something to eat and certainly didn't go hungry. The hotel is 45 min boat ride from Male airport. The hotel provide bottles of water and refreshing towels which smelt absolutely amazing. It was the signature scent of the hotel, I couldn't get enough of it. There is also WIFI aboard. Even though it was windy on the way back, the ride wasn't unpleasant and it goes by quickly. There is a small gym, which I used a couple of times on rainy days, not a huge amount of equipment, but enough for a quick workout. Would be good if they had a couple of yoga mats available. There isn't anything for children to do, so I would say it is more of an adult hotel. We honestly had a fantastic time here and would recommend it to all, despite having rubbish weather half the time we were there. Its so beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing, unwinding holiday.…
Where do I even begin to describe this dream holiday. My girlfriend and I have just gotten back from the holiday of our life’s. Summer island is truly an incredible place being run by incredible people. The scenery, the food, the facilities are superb, I don’t have the words to describe it. However, the hotels best asset is the staff. I would live to give a huge mention to the manager Mari for all of her help during our stay, my partner and I have never felt so looked after. I would also like to thank all of the bar staff and waiters, you guys are truly awesome and helped make our stay memorable. If you are thinking of booking summer island Maldives, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and book it and you will have the holiday of a lifetime.
Where can i start, the island is beautiful. So relaxing and peaceful. I'm not a fan of big resorts and this was perfect to me, with only about 150 so rooms on the island and all discreetly hidden in the tree lines (with the exception of the water villas) it never felt crowded. It took us about 15 minutes to walk around the island and it is all stunning. We were all inclusive and had plenty of choices at each meal time. The cocktails included were okay but would have been good to have had a change after 1 week there. My only little moan is i wish we could have maybe been able to of had say ice cream without having to pay for this. But then again the choice of desserts at meal times were amazing so made up for the lack of free ice cream. The staff were so so friendly and made our stay even more lovely. We did 1 of the free snorkeling trips and my partner enjoyed it but i found it a little choppy so returned to the boat. The room we had was 353 on the less windy side of the island and again it was perfect.…
Summer island is fabulous, the sand is like talcum powder, the water as warm.and blue as you could ever imagine. Loved the windy side of the island, the resort is small but perfectly formed and the staff are just the best and anticipated your every move. Hated the time it took to get there but forgot it as soon as we stepped out onto the jetty
We had absolutely amazing time at Summer Island resort. We came here as a very large group (9 rooms, 16 adults + 7 kids) to celebrate our wedding. We couldn’t be more satisfied with this resort and it’s amazing team. This was my 3rd time in Maldives, 3rd resort and this was the best experience when it comes to customer service. Team was just amazing. So professional, helpful, willing to go extra mile all the time. Manager, reception stuff, people in the dining area - amazing. Food selection was very good and you could find here everything you wanted. I did search a lot before choosing this resort - as you can imagine - to accommodate this large group isn’t easy. Marriage ceremony was amazing as well. I’m not very easy customer to please but I beyond happy. Well done team - you are just amazing.…
We stayed at summer island on the 13th may in a water villa for 7 days We had a fantastic time and the staff were just great especially dhawa (Dava) who was just marvellous and a real asset to the resort We had a evening booked under the stars for our anniversary but due to weather conditions it had to be done inside Dhawa had picked us flowers and cut up leave pieces to spell out anniversary on the table They even made us a cake but we was so full up from the meal we shared it with some other guests and gave the rest to the staff to share Also ragesh and ravinder in the water villa bar both looked after us and knew our names each time they saw us xx I cant thank this resort enough for making this trip of a lifetime so special Thank you xxxx
Excellent and amazing experience for me in my life . Friendly staff, wonderful view and tasty food. Especially the supervisor Yaish is the best. He is super nice and help me a lot. Comparing with other resorts, I think the price is also reasonable. Perfect cost performance. Will come back next time.
I have read recent reviews and have trouble comprehending people. Having travelled to 4 different islands, another only in January sea shoes are not required in the majority. Our fourth visit is later in the year and this island for snorkelling is amazing. You can go beyond the campions and do not need to use the snorkelling trips, we have previously. The fuel tank comes once a week for approximately 2 1/2 hours, if you take the time to wave and chat the people are so friendly. This island is amazing. Mari and her staff work tirelessly to ensure their guests have a wonderful stay. Beach lounger covers are new and the non motorised water sports are not included, in fact only 1 island we have visited has offered this facility for free. I cannot speak highly enough of the whole island team. I wonder how they tolerate some of the extremely rude guests, it would not be accepted in the UK. See you in September, Andrew & Amanda…
