No point talking about the glorious beach, ocean, vegetation because in the Maldives all of that is yours by default. The deluxe water villas are luxurious and large, even the outdoor deck is generously proportioned with a plunge pool. The luxury extends to the bathroom, with a flat TV , a jacuzzi tub and bath opening to the outdoors. Champagne and wines apart from beers and soft drinks in the mini bar. Unlimited drinking water in the room and you need this after snorkelling. Does wonders for the occasional affirmation of having made the right choice. The snorkelling just around the villas is amazing for both coral and sealife. You can spend hours. The lagoon villas are too close to the beach to offer the feeling of being perched above the ocean. Lily Ma is good for breakfast but we preferred Acqua for lunch simply because the food and wine selection were better and the service was from a different planet - take a bow Vinod and the bar tender from Sri Lanka (Sorry chief I forgot your name!), who spun out some great cocktails and Mocktails for the kids. Yes Kids are allowed in the restaurant and bar but not in the pool area or the beach just behind Acqua. And it's an unlimited a la carte restaurant, so if you like something just order it again and again. e.g. the beef carpaccio - every mouthful was heaven. Other notables were octopus, grilled catch of the day, the NZ beef steak and the Tiramisu. There's something to be said about not jumping up every 10 minutes and grazing over miles and miles of buffet tables for what to eat next. The other restaurant & bar, at the other end of the island, had sandwiches and burgers and stuff, and as you can decode from the factthat I don't remember it's name, we didn't spend more than 10 minutes there on the entire trip. The huge disappointment was the fusion Thai/Indian restaurant, Tamarind, which is touted as fine dining and allowed only once over the entire vacation on the Platinum Plan. Meh food, meh service and quite a forgettable evening. Itbmust be said that one person in our group liked the Tom Yum soup, but for fine dining Thai that's not much to write home about. Back to Lily Maa - don't get me wrong. The food is quite good say 8/10 for breakfast and the location and views and the unlimited champagne works for breakfast. But for dinner it gets repetitiveafter the second or third day and i'd be hard pressed to give it more than 6/10 for dinner. Huge variety though and a lot of kids were going berserk over pizza. dessert and pasta. Pasta was NOT good. Live grill station was good but long waiting times. So you just want to finish dinner and get back to the bar. When it comes to the bars (3 of them) keep in mind that all are not equal. Sometimes a particular wine or alcohol is not available in one of them and the guys are loathe to get it from another bar. Overall the Wine & alcohol selection at the resort is top notch and it's all part of the Platinum Plan. Service, with a few exceptions, was not something I'd rave about. The servers at dinner time at Lily Maa were very average. The servers at breakfast were great. The buggy drivers were great. Did I mention the service at Acqua? OMG. The reception staff and the welcome and orintation staff were great. So overall, about par for the course. Opt for the seaplane transfer from Male Int'l. Infrequent domestic flights and poor connections means you'll waste 5-6 hours getting to the resort and essentially blow away your first day. And one more thing, the Domestic flights lounge at Male Int'l doesnt serve any alcohol. Great experience over all and very happy to go back again.

I have decided to offer my wife, for her birthday, a short holiday in the Maldives. Firstly, at the airport in Male we where quickly guided by the staff working for the resort being immediately transferred with a private car to the water airport where we have waited a couple of hours in a nice lounge belonging to the resort with food service and beverages included. After approximately 40’ of flight with the hydro plane, we reached the island where a staff manager waited for us and explained all we can do there. We have chosen a lagoon villa, which was roomy, accommodated with a large jacuzzi in the backyard, sky view bathroom, and a generous double deck terrace facing the lagoon and the horizon over the Indian Ocean. Few steps away a small beach with white sand available when low tide and warm water where you may snorkel 50 meters away to the reach the reef. Minibar is included with acceptable wines and refreshments. The Maa restaurant is the main eating place on the island and is buffet self-service. Nice choices of food may be served: local, Japanese, Indian, Arabic, Mediterranean a.s.o. Drinks included in the Platinium Plan, which is mandatory for all guests, are of reasonable quality comparing to other all-inclusive resorts we’ve visited. So, quite a generous list of champagnes, wines or spirits may be chosen freely. Of course, you may find other expensive paid drinks on choice. Aqua and Vibes are the two snack bars located in opposite parts of the island, first is adults only with infinity pool and second with kids pool, pool and a nice beach. Tamarind restaurant is a also a nice choice, with one dinner included in the Platinium Plan, close to the Aqua bar, the diving center and the SPA center. The SPA is relatively expensive but the quality of service is good. We had a nice time, good food, excellent snorkeling/diving opportunities and spa. Thanks to our diving trainer Ahmed Ateef we had some exceptional diving experiences in the reef. There are plenty of included and optional excursions, mostly for snorkeling with the whale sharks, mantas and turtles, but also romantic dining and sunset cruises. Face masks are mandatory only when approaching the buffet in the main restaurant and optional in the rest of the island. The Lily app is useful as one can easily manage the reservations, itinerary and bills. We were barefooted for 7 days, got a good suntan and plus 1kg🤨, but enjoyed every second!
