Setting is paradise but the hotel management made it feel like a prison. After a very long journey we took the sea plane to the island. However you land in the middle of the reef and have to travel by boat to the pontoon (this holiday was specifically chosen for no boat as I don’t like being on them). On arriving in our over water villa a maintenance man arrived to fix our air conditioning unit without us needing to mention it as it was leaking when we were shown to the room. On arrival to the restaurant you are given a specific table / waiter for the duration of your stay with some possibility of moving as other guests complete their stay. Reception is useless! I asked for sugar for my coffee in the room on the first night and after two conversations, it never arrived! You had to wear face masks throughout all public areas (restaurant, bars and reception). You were only allowed to have beer or wine as alcoholic drinks with your meals - spirits were only available at the bars. You were not allowed to take any alcohol back to your rooms unless it was cans of beer. One night I was allowed to take vodka into the restaurant to have with my evening meal yet the following night I was refused! This was for the rest of the holiday. I resorted to sneaking vodka back to my room which I shouldn’t have to do on an all inclusive holiday that costs thousands of pounds. You were unable to go to the bar to order your drinks but made to sit at a table for the staff to wait on you again having to wear a face mask as they took your order and delivered your drink. Food - The beans for breakfast were cold every day and they only way to have hot food were freshly cooked eggs or waffles and pancakes. Food for lunch and evening meal were also lukewarm at best and again the only hot food was the freshly cooked stations which resulted in long queues blocking others from getting to the plates or desserts. The walkway to the water villas was a health and safety nightmare - uneven and broken boards with a minimal edge that would not have stopped anyone falling over or could cause someone to trip into the water. Room was stunning but housekeeping thought that 7:30 was the time to clean your room - you are on holiday and not wanting to be disturbed that early. We resorted to getting a do not disturb sign from one of the cleaners for the room as these were not in the room to start. The cleaners would sit on someone’s villa balcony edge waiting for you to leave. You were also disturbed in the evening by another member of housekeeping to change your pool towels, it would have been better to have a towel station where you could change your towels at your own convenience. We would recommend the Maldives as a holiday destination but certainly not this hotel.

After looking at the reviews for this island we expected so much and I can't tell you how very disappointed we where. The pool was filthy with grime and after our 12th day they cleaned it with washing up liquid and a scourer (I do have photos of this) the menu although varied it was covered in flies needless to say I didn't eat much. The room was filthy, and the bathroom dangerous . We had to put towels down just to soak up the water so we didnt slip and hurt ourselves. The decking around the pool was so rotten 3 people put their foot through it while we where there. What the management couldn't spoil was the natural beauty of this island. The sea was the clearest and warmest I have ever seen and been in, the beach had beautiful white sand, and swimming with the reef sharks was simply breathtaking. These are the memories I will take with me. I have noticed that the tour company we went with no longer go here. If you want to go the maldives go to a larger island.

We had an fantastic stay at this amazing little island. It was above our expectations as we are used to stay at more luxurious resorts but could not afford that in the Maldives. This was maybe the lowest standard we had, but don’t get scared, I have nothing to complain about! Was it a little bit worn out? Yes, but hey I get that the jetty and terrace get a lot of wind, rain and sun. Floor get wet feets and so on. Don’t let that scare you of when you see pictures. Room: we stayed in a water bungi with lagoon and sunset view. The view was amazing and I loved it. The room was clean and nice they came two times a day. Room was a little bit outdated but nothing that bothered us at all. They changed towels and sheets when you wished and came with fresh beachtowels every evening. Always asked if we needed refill of shampoo, towels or anything. Drinks except water was not refilled and you have to bring it from the bar by yourselves. No problem at all. Storage was good with a lot of hangers. There was a good fridge in the room that kept our drinks ice cold. Loved our little terrace, comfy sunbeds but a little table would have been nice. The steps in water can be slippery, but I noticed our cleaner scrubbed it sometime which was nice. Food: So delicious! Had much less expectations and was very positive surprised. It was not this overwhelming buffet we are used to, but don’t get disappointed. It was cooked with love and actually very well seasoned and good tasting. It was a lot to choose from and they always served perfectly cooked fresh fish. It was a variety of local and international food. We had AI and the service was great. Our waiter Hussein always know what we liked to drink and we never had to wait for refill our our morning coffe. He remembered how much milk we wanted in our coffe and was very proffessional. It was always clean and tidy. We could see fishes and baby sharks from our table and the beach. Bars: Friendly service minded staff. Remembered what we wanted. Clean and nice. Only brought drinks to the room from the sunset bar so never tried that one. Snorkelling: We booked this resort for good snorkelling. Even if the reef was a little bit broken and coral bleached, it was amazing. We saw nurse sharks, white tip and black tip reef sharks and even black tips. We also spotted turtles, stingrays a cauliflower manet and of course a huge variety of fish species. Loved that we could snorkel around the island! We also went on a snorkel trip and it was really nice and was included in our stay. Joy Dive center: We took our Open water certificate here. As we dived before they customized the course after us so it only took us 2 days as we could include the excessive we did for a test dive in the course. Our instructor was so professional and we enjoyed every second. The house reef was nice and next time we want to take some day trips. All staff were really friendly and gave us the best experience. Dhoni boat trip: We took a Dhoni full day trip and we went to see manta rays and other good snorkelling sites. Had a perfect day! Due to rainy season the weather was a little bit unpredictable, otherwise we had booked a 2-day trip looking for whale sharks. Can really recommend everyone to take a trip. You can decide what you want to do/see and they plan after this. Lunch on an inhabitant island, sandbank, visit a local island or snokel sites? It is up to you. We had 3 boat staff and service was great. You decide before what drinks you want and food. The island: Absolutely stunning! Beautiful beach, lovely sandy paths around the island. Nice vegetation and it smelled like being in a tropical house with all trees bushes and flowers. The island is small and it takes about 10 minutes to walk around it. My boyfriend didn’t wear shoes in our 2 weeks stay so it is truly a barefoot island. Clientele: Low key relaxed guests. Everyone was polite and we did not really noticed there was other people there. It was peace and quite. Everyone wore relaxed clothes. We liked the dresscode and my boyfriend could wear shorts and T-shirt in the restaurant so no need for shirts and long trousers. Weather: We could find very little information about the weather so I will give a report. I guess others wonder as well about rainy season in July. It was better than expected and it often rained during nights and early mornings. We had 2 days with bad weather and one of them was on our departure day. The other days was a mix of sun and clouds, a few days with no clouds, a few days with overcast. However, the temperature is the same, water is warm and you get tanned even when it is cloudy. We snorkelled or dived every day, spent hours sun bathing and enjoyed every single second. It was cool to see the weather changes and after a while we know when to bring raincoats to dinner or when we could leave it. Would we go this period again? Not for a week if you are unlucky, but for two weeks definitely! Best with the resort: Privacy, snorkelling, food! Of course also the surroundings and beach. Improvements that can be done: Put bathing carpet in the water bungis so guests can dry there feets. Noticed the floor was damaged from water. Guess people go in with wet feets. A little table on the terrace in water bungalows would be great for drinks and books/phones. We will come back when we can afford it again, only have good memories from this resort. Greetings from Sweden

What a place!! We absolutely fell in love with this island. The view from the sea plane as you come into land is breathtaking. The staff are wonderful and work so very hard to make your holiday special. The food was amazing, as were the cocktails (coco dream) much better then I had anticipated.lots of chicken, fish and beef. The desserts were to die for. Enjoyed everything I had especially the butter chicken! We had a semi bungalow and they were so pretty. They have a jetty that literally backs onto the beach with a little bowl to wash your feet. The snorkeling from there was just brilliant, (I was terrified at first) we even got to snorkel with nurse sharks. They live under the restaurant but used to come past the villas everyday morning and night. We never saw anyone else on the beach behind the semis and literally had it to ourselves. We had a day of rain but rain coats are provided so just put them on and go out! So much fun. Yes as some reviews say it could use a little TLC in places but don’t let that put you off. It’s in the middle of the ocean and gets weathered. Loved the fact the bar and the restaurant were out over the sea. Amazing views. The sea here is just so beautiful in colour and stunning. It was hubbys birthday whilst there and they decorated the table and bedroom. Thank you for that. We saw lizards, fruit bats, crabs, storks, sharks, rays, even the Milky Way!! No light pollution! We will definitely be returning as it stole our hearts. Never have I been so emotional to leave a holiday destination. Special Thank you to Hussain for looking after us! See you all again soon!

I traveled to Safari Island with my sister and stayed for two weeks. We had such a great time! The staff is amazing, everyone is so polite and nice. We wil definitely miss them very much and never forget about them. The Island offers several trips, we went on a couple of boat trips and I really can suggest them. It was fun / breathtaking and as the rest of the staff, the boat crew is very professional. We had an All inclusif which is perfect on an island. They have lots of drinks included and if you wish to get any special Cocktail, you can order that separately. The meals at the Restaurant was very good and varied. I missed a little bit more of some local food though. Otherwise I can really not complain, it was yummi everyday. I can recommend the Spa also. We booked a Thai massage, it was just wow! I would go back to safari Island at anytime! Thanks to anyone who made our stay unforgettable.

My husband and I returned home from our honeymoon on Safari Island yesterday. We arrived on the island on a Sunday, which was wonderful. We are speechless about the place, the ocean. Simply from everything. On this day, I don't think any of us thought about what we were going to go through in the next 1 week. The room (water villa) was amazing. The bed is comfortable, the bed on the terrace was fantastically comfortable. The first cockroach appeared in the first 10 minutes in the room. We said ok, this must be normal, we won't say anything, a cockroach can't spoil our mood. We got over it. Monday: Long snorkelling, delicious breakfast/lunch/dinner, but we found out that there was a shark attack at the restaurant not so long ago (this was confirmed by several people there and the travel agency), so the day went by a bit worried about how much we would dare to go into the water , what is the right thing to do in this case, after all, we came to this place because we want to do water sports all day. Tuesday: Interesting rashes/spots started to appear on me, which we showed to the reception, where they immediately referred me to the doctor. The doctor there almost refused to tell us what it was, what could be causing it, (we asked if an insect, bed bug, mosquito, or anything like that could have bitten us, but they said no, even though we found crawlers in our bed, which we reported besides the cockroaches, and then we got a bottle of insect repellent) when will it go away, he just gave me a few pieces of vitamin C, a box of cream and 4 antihistamines (whoever has taken antihistamines knows that 4 antihistamines are worthless). I rubbed myself very enthusiastically, took the medicine and tried to get over it, that this should not spoil my mood on our honeymoon either. Wednesday: The spots/rashes became more and more intense, they itched more and more, and this was accompanied by a sore throat so strong that I couldn't even swallow, my tonsils were swollen, which was visible to the naked eye. I drove everywhere with a scarf, and my husband tried to tell me with great patience and reassurance that everything is fine, there will be no problem, let's go to the doctor again, tell him what's wrong, he'll give me medicine, painkillers and he'll be much better the next day. The doctor didn't give me anything other than a sly (sorry for the expression, but really sly) smile, just a few more drops of vitamin C. By the evening it was so unbearable that I could almost cry, and then the waiter at the bar got us aspirin and panadol. Thursday: We noticed that we have been at the hotel since Sunday, but the towels and sheets have not been changed once. They didn't refill the shower gel, which was running low, and we no longer smelled the clean smell that we had on the first day. Chasing the cockroaches, we noticed that there was a lot of dirt under the bed. They didn't come to clean in the morning, somehow we were always left out, only late at night, when we were already in bed, and we think that's why they only did things in the bathroom for a few minutes. They didn't bring a tissue box, which we immediately put out, indicating that it was empty and needed a new one. We were deeply shocked by this, because let's face it, in today's world, this amount, if the accommodation costs, is not a small amount of money. However, the black soup came in the evening. My husband also started to feel sick. His body was on fire, his head ached incessantly, he was shaken by the cold, spots also appeared on him. Friday: My husband got so sick in the morning that I literally cried from fear of what would happen to him. We called the front desk to have the doctor sent here immediately, but the receptionist was just busy thinking about when we were going on the snorkeling tour, and then hung up on us. We wrote to them on WhatsApp because I didn't dare leave my husband alone, but they didn't reply. Here he was so weak that I ran to the reception to have the doctor come immediately, who followed me with slow steps and mumbled, and all he did was take blood pressure and give vitamin C, panadol, antacids (??????) Not even a fever check , nothing. When we pointed out that he also had rashes, they waved off that it was a mosquito, while a few days before I was told about the same spots that it was not a mosquito, not an insect... Saturday-Sunday was the same as Friday. No one really looked at us while we suffered in the room. One of the receptionists only wrote about how we were doing Jithesh Jithu was the only one who asked several times how we were doing. We left for home on Monday. The transfer promised for 13:45 (we had to check out by 12) arrived sometime after 16:30. No one was offered a drink, a water, or a sandwich, only after a guest nervously confronted the receptionist.

Really nice resort with amazing food and even more amazing personnel. They are polite and positive all the time, ready to help you with anything you need. The cleaning service was top. We felt like everytime we left the room, there was a person who cleaned the rum directly. The atmosphere at the bar was cozy and the cocktails were delicious. The food was really good too. We had a lot of different dishes to choose from and there was always one or two stations preparing dishes ( like pasta, toast, omelets etc. ) on the spot. During our stay I had my birthday too and they made amazing preparations at dinner and even in our rum. We had the all inclusive package which came with a snorkeling trip free of charge. Last but not least the spa personnel were nice, positive and most importantly great at giving massages, totally worth it!

I spent an amazing week at Safari Island. From the minute I arrived the staff were so polite and respectful, they could not do enough for the guests. The resort is fab. The reef is incredible. Overwater villa was perfect, with views to die for, incredible sunsets, cleaned every morning and evening if required. Food was plentiful and varied, allocated same table for duration of stay which I really liked. Some reviews say "old and tired" for me it was more rustic and authentic, could do with some TLC but its in the middle of the ocean so there is going to be some weather damage to the decking !! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my stay here and would return in a heartbeat. I am so glad I chose Safari Island even though its a small Island, you feel like you are the only person there, then when you go for dinner, its like where have all these people come from. Every member of staff go above and beyond, they are a credit to the hospitality industry. Thank you everyone, I will definitely be back :-)

We spent 8 days in water villa. We were very happy with our stay. Water was great for morning snorkeling, which we did every day. Our stay was really relaxing. We really liked the food served at the restaurant, tried a lot of fish, curry, sushi and fresh fruits. I really enjoyed warm sandwiches during lunch. Sure, rooms and bathrooms need to be renovated but i did not expect marble floor in the middle of the ocean. As we lived at the water villa probably that’s why we weren’t bitten by sandflies or mosquitos.
