What a gem! Just 25 minutes from Male. It’s so hard picking a resort with so much choice. This is a reliable choice. You can’t go wrong. There is nothing to complain about. It functions efficiently. However, to ensure this review is accurate and balanced, here are a few “ even better if” Sparkling water in the room Yoga daily and not three times a week Gluten free treats on arrival for GF guests as the room was filled with gluten goodies A little chocolate at turn down, Ok I tried. Reef sharks to watch on the shore line. Easy access into the calm and sheltered sea. No need for reef shoes. The infinity pool was stunning, lovely and warm. It was a treat. Lit with sparkling lights . We loved our shark snorkel! The dive team are super. There are no facilities for children other than abundance of nature and staff who seem to cherish children. I found the way the children made their own fun with nature utterly charming. A pleasant mix of nationalities. We stayed in a beach villa with pool. We were kindly upgraded from a beach villa. We received early check in and check out. The staff are kind. There is no drama here. They are quietly efficient at all times. Mr Wasantha who is executive chef is an absolute gem! The pastry chef was a lovely guy too. They made me gluten-free pancakes daily. They made sure everyone knew and worked carefully to keep me from a reaction. I have a severe allergy and the staff tried very hard to keep me safe at all times. The main bed was super comfy, the little side bed was very hard and we might have been better with a roll away. We loved the large bath and outdoor shower There are full size L’Occotaine products in the rooms which meant you could travel very light. It’s good to see no small disposables. We took off our shoes as we arrived and stayed barefoot. Bliss Snorkel equipment was free. I lost an earring and the head housekeeper found it and returned it. So kind. We are not big eaters and drinkers so we just chose bed and breakfast. It suited us. Their indulgence package is probably essential if you are otherwise. The sunsets were spectacular. In room dinning was fast. They make their own ice cream which is rather cute. This was our third mother and daughter trip to Velassaru and once again the whole experience of our stay exceeded all our expectations. Velassaru is a stunning island, the entire Team lead by Brett, the hospitality, the food, the accommodation and comfort are all outstanding. I can only praise our entire experience lead by Brett, the General Manager who would stop to have a chat, say hello to acknowledge you and this example was followed through by his entire team. The food in all the restaurants is amazing from the variety at breakfast to the meals in the restaurants. Our special thanks to Chef Anu and Chef Chandu for all the outstanding dishes they make, mine definitely was the risotto and my daughters was the vegetarian burger. Every detail to attention is given to the food and presentation to make every meal delicious. The service whether it was breakfast, dinner or a drink and snacks at Fenn bar is fantastic. All the staff everywhere you were took special care to engage with you at all times. I would not like to leave anyone out but from the gentleman who looked after our room, the gardeners who maintain this stunning island we thank them all. Velassaru is just one of a kind, this is my second already here with my fam. And also celebrated my birthday here on 16.03 Thanks again that the manage team prepared surprises to make my journey memorable! I would say that, Velassaru is a wonderful chose for whom is going to Maldives for 1st time. Because here they got beautiful beach (which can make beautiful photos), water sports , and diving center , spa ,… you can have a lot of new experiences. Personally recommend: Shark snorkeling you must go Japanese restaurant which is on the island you must go. Parasailing must go Spa can not miss Fishing can not miss Thanks a again to all team member there, our stay was quite impressive.

So this is the second time for me and my family visiting this hotel 2019 and now The hotel is kind of old .. no changes the food is expensive for nothing .. you dont have quality sea food and you expect that since you re in the middle of the ocean only the pizza was ok In the morning except for fruits i dont consider that you have many options the pancakes we re crunchy?? i told the chef to made them a bit soft and they didnt know how the sand restaurant (sea food) was not good at all we paid around 900€ for 6 pers (we didnt drink alcohol) and we we re not satisfied They have a gym but they lack in other activities , they have a tenis court in construction were i would have enjoyed play something but i couldn't I also put the spa prices that i consider too overrated We stayed at the ocean villa and it was nice clean but no changes since past years To summed it up the hotel needs some changes due to the fact that its old the island is very nice but the staff is not that friendly they forget to smile 😃…

Just returned after spending what has to be the very best 10 days of what I can only describe as the perfect piece of paradise set in a stunning location. If you are looking for the ultimate in relaxation holidays this has to be very high on your list of choices. We're a couple in our early 60s and booked a 10 day stay at Velassaru. We picked this island after doing some research on YouTube as we wanted somewhere fairly small, with a low-key and relaxing vibe. This resort is part of "Small Luxury Hotels of the World", and that description is certainly accurate. We elected to pay the additional charge for their all-inclusive package (what they refer to as their "Indulgence" package) as we had heard reports that food and drink can get very expensive in the Maldives and we didn't want any nasty surprises come check-out time. We selected a deluxe beach villa with pool in a quiet location (room 216 to be exact). The room was superb with really great air-con, a huge TV (that only got used on the one day we had rain and cloudly conditions), and huge and comfortable king size bed. Our villa had an outside bathroom which was really nice. Having a warm shower out in the sunshine after getting out of bed was certainly a different experience, but very nice indeed. The island can only be described as simply stunning. It has the quintessential light coloured sandy beaches, palm trees on the shore line, and crystal clear and calm warm waters. The whole island is small and you can walk the entire beach line in around 20 minutes with ease. The place is very well maintained by a team of gardeners and maintenace people (see later on this), and all of the restaurants are very well staffed, clean and welcoming. Getting there from the airport was just a short 25 minute boat ride. We were greeted at the airport arrivals gate by a Velassaru rep and quickly escorted to the waiting boat. One big advantage of the boat transfers is gthat they can operate both night and day, so fitting in with your flight plans doesn't incur a lengthy wait at the airport. We ate in all of the restaurants, but our favorite was Teppanyaki which is Japanese influenced serving some of the best food I have ever tasted. The "Kani Salad" for a starter was amazing. My only critisism if I had one is that the food portions are huge, and on several occassions we simply skipped the starter, or asked for a smaller portion. Of course, if you just go for the self-serve buffet evening meal in the Vela restaurant, then you can have as much or as little as you like. Here, the buffet options were highly varied with plenty of choice including salads, curries, fish and most everything else you could wish for. The Maldivian style curries are superb! We did have a small issue in our villa when we noticed the toilet starting to block, with some concerning gurgling noises after flushing. We popped into reception after breakfast the following morning and reproted the issue. We then returned to our villa which took around a 10 minute leasurely walk, where we were greeted by the assistant maintanance manager exiting the villa who confirmed that there was a problem and that it would be fixed quickly. Within the next half hour, one of the maintenance staff came round to inform us that the problem had been sorted and to let them know if there were any forther issues. A superb level of service, and shows they genuinely care for their guests and want you to have the best experience they can offer. For us, having a villa on the beach was perflect as we are not strong swimmers. Personally I would not go for the over water villas as I prefer walking into the sea from a beach, whereas in the over-water villas you have to descend a short ladder down into the water. But that's just my personal preference. So, would we stay at Velassaru again? Absolutely yes if we ever get the opportunity to do so again in the future. It's a long flight from the UK, but well worth the effort just to experience the location. Overall a superb holiday with absolutely no negatives to speak of and lots of memories to look back upon. After my stay on a local island for a surf trip I knew I couldn’t leave the Maldives without visiting Velassaru again. This was my fourth time on the island but the first time without the family, although it was an amazing holiday once again and showed me that Velassaru is perfect for solo trips as well. As always I stayed in a Deluxe Bungalow with plenty of space, the open air shower as a highlight and the sea right in front of the door. There are a lot of possibilities to lay at the beach all around the island. Either in front of the rooms with more privacy or at the pool area. Although it is a small island, it definitely has everything you need. A special big thank you to the Immersion and Glide Center with Carmen Dressler and her amazing team which is letting dreams come true. From the well organized snorkel and scuba diving trips which allow you to see turtles, sharks, stingrays and a lot more to the great offers of watersport activities, everyone will find something to try out. The staff is very caring, helps with everything and makes sure to always give you a safe feeling. Another highlight on Velassaru is definitely the culinary aspect with an outstanding quality of the food in all of the five restaurants. This time I spent most of the evenings in my personal favorite restaurant, the sands restaurant which is directly at the beach and creates a very calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff is doing a very good job, especially supervisor Imran who constantly did an excellent service and always made several reservations possible. There is one thing which impresses me each time again. You never get the feeling of a crowded place, even though the occupancy is very high. All in all it was an amazing stay once again and I am sure it won’t be the last……

We had our nice vocations in Velassaru Maldives second half February – beginning March 2023. This was really magic days in beautiful island between snow-white sands, nice green tall palms, five-star testy dishes, friendly service. This is our first experience with Maldives and I spent much time for looking info about Maldives resorts. After checking thousands pages in Internet and Telegram we chosen Velassaru. This was 100% goal. During all days we had enjoyed our rest. Nice snorkeling in domestic island reef gives us many imaginations about reach deep ocean lives. Unbelievable ! So many small and big fishes… There are 3 families if Triger Titanes 😊 This fish familes is my friends now 😊 Reef is alive and growing. Lagoon is friendly and protect island from outside ocean big waves. Swimming is very comfortable. Resort has 5 restaurants. Main Chef Mr.Wasantha organized amazing net of 5-starts restaurants on this small island. His team works hard and well for preparing best dishes for guests. We visited all restaurants and enjoyed cousins in each of them! Chef Wasantha and his team were amazing. Also I had private Big Fish Fishing. Ms Carmen (Head of Diving center) helped with organization. Our Team: Captain Maruuf, Sapi and Ibragim assisted me in this nice super fishing. We had caught 30kg’s Seaboat Fish (kind of marlin) ! This was incredible!!! These experiences will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you very much my TEAM for this!!! This fish was prepared by Chef from VELA restaurant! Was very delishies! We have just returned from our third visit to the island and can say it is still as beautiful as the first time. We stayed in our favourite Villa, thanks to the reservation team to honour our request again. It is such a relaxed atmosphere on the island and everything is close by. The beach and lovely turquoise sea is just a few steps from the Villa and the restaurants and bars are a fews mins walk. All the restaurants serve great food and the evening entertainment is low key and relaxed with a different group playing each night. The manager’s cocktail party, with staff band and dancing, and the ice cream daily visits are also a lovely touch. However what makes the place so special is the staff who are so welcoming and friendly. Apologies for any incorrect spelling of names but I hope you know who we are referring to - Faisal food and Bev manager who welcomed us back and was always making sure things were ok for us Ali at Etesian for friendly service and for making sure we had our daily ice cream stops sorted Rafa , Gopal and all the team at Fen Bar always making sure our table was well away from the trees so we could enjoy our drinks and play cards Salaam at Tepenyaki so welcoming and lovely to chat to. Chef Prasaad at Tepenyaki for serving our favourite food and lovely bonus to see Chef Arnold back juggling the knives on our last night there . We remembered him from our first visit 3 years ago and still had the video! Omary, Shaulan and Ahmed for the special ice cream stops for us at the beach. We missed you in your days off. Breakfast staff who knew our tea and coffee orders every morning without having to ask. And Ahmed for letting those guys know our order when he moved from Breakfast to the Sand Restaurant Rota. Shahid for looking after housekeeping and making sure we were always well stocked up . Then also to the behind the scenes staff who keep the place running and gardeners who worked so hard to keep paths cleared gardens looking lovely Look forward to a return visit form the 3 card playing ladies. 😎…
