The beauty of the islands that make up the Maldives live up to all that has been written about them. The blue lagoons and dazzling white beaches fringed by swaying coconut palms challenge the scope of any camera, and Dhuni Kolhu is said to be the most stunning of them all. Located in Baa Atoll, 124km from Male’ international airport, and easily reached by a 30 minute seaplane flight or a domestic flight followed by a short speedboat ride, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu captures tropical magic in abundance, beautifully balancing the island’s bountiful vegetation with the resort’s architectural charisma. Inspired by the flourishing sea life and local customs, the resort has been built in harmony with the natural environment. Guests have their own luxury villa, either dotted among palm trees offering peaceful tranquility or on stilts over the lagoon, with spectacular views of the ocean and nearby desert islands. Wood, rattan and cotton furnishings complete the picture of laid-back tropical elegance. The 32 Beach Villas, 25 Sunset Beach Villas, and 27 Deluxe Villas have a Maldivian charm and paradise appeal, whilst the 12 Lagoon Villas offer a refined experience of exclusivity and indulgence. The 2 Sunset Lagoon Villas feature the height of luxury with a separate bed- and living room, Jacuzzi, and wide sundeck with private pool. There are two relaxed bars and a choice of tantalizing dining options, both indoor and outdoor under a canopy of Banyan trees. For the more adventurous, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu has a variety of Uniquely Coco experiences on offer, including private overnight stays at a near-by deserted island, snorkeling excursions with the resident Marine Biologist to swim with Manta Rays and Sea Turtles, sandbank picnics, scuba diving, island hopping, and sunset fishing. Relaxation can be found at Coco Spa where guests can experience Asian-inspired treatments or participate in Yoga lessons at the beach. Creatively conceived and superbly designed to blend into the natural environment, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is the ultimate authentic Maldivian hideaway.

so I will critic to the max as this will only allow the resort to improve. I will start off with the pros, lagoon villa view of the ocean is amazing, the tropical marine life is amazing, we were lucky enough to see dolphins, manta rays, sharks and turtles, the turtle rehabilitation on the island touched my heart. It’s a perfect resort for snorkelling surrounded by such beautiful coral reefs, the island itself is almost situated amongst all of the islands greenery and you get a feel for a tropical rain forest it’s just gorgeous, be prepared for rain if you go in November but if you are not snotty about the weather then both rain or shine is perfection. The spa is wonderful it is worth indulging in a treatment if you like to pamper yourself and relax. Cons - if you don’t like walking, the lagoon villas are not for you they are the furthest away from any amenities, they are basic, there is nothing wow about them I think they could be due an upgrade, cracks on the baths and the sinks, there is a stench that lingers unless you keep the bathroom door propped open. The island is a no footwear island in respect of their culture we did this most the time however the wood does get really hot so just be prepared for that you would only encounter that if you are on the lagoon, shoes are not a necessity anywhere else. We had the pergola dinner experience whilst out here this I would recommend no fault, just gorgeous and waiters attentive to your needs do not feel rushed during this which was nice and the ambience was beautifully set up. Our maid was 10/10 did everything we asked of him in fact we encountered experiences with two and they couldn’t do enough for you. We did encounter a few problems whilst out here though, the champagne breakfast is different to the floating one do not be deceived by this when you book this we explained prior to coming out here and when we were here that we wanted a floating one for the experience, it did not arrive or end up like this when it got to our rooms just on trays - they did nothing to rectify this. We went over to the desert island where it is just the two of you, lunch and drinks provided it was lovely however the island consisted of broken glass, rubbish, water bottles all over the island, the amenities within the hut, chairs tables and sun beds were really worn down and are in need of upgrades. On our last night before departure all those leaving were welcomed at dinner with a gorgeous table display of like the marine life and table clothes nicely decorated - we were seated at a basic table with nothing on it - at this point I was a bit fed up cos the little things make the most of your experience. Reception were very snotty and it was almost like anything you raised they didn’t understand or didn’t wanna help fix or fix their mistakes. When you are paying a lot of money for your time out here you expect little margin for error, yes mistakes happen but we could have chosen any of Maldives islands to stay, but felt let down on several occasions which make coming back undesirable. If I was being really picky I would give this island resort a 6.5/10 but if you are accepting of the above we could resort to a 7.5/8

The island was great. Felt like paradise. We made the open water diver course on the island. Mau was a really good teacher with a lot of patience. It was really fun! And a special thanks to Antonio for the organisation and the videos he made under water with his go pro and the editing for us. Everyone was so nice and the food was really tasty.

Beautiful location, crystal clear waters, plenty of fish to see when snorkling. We had a villa situated in the water and wasnt dissapointed. Bring a couple of good books because if your after nightlife look elswhere, this trip is purely to do nothing apart from snorkel, read and eat three times a day (and the occasional trip to see dolphins and turtles). There are 2 bars but both are relaxing with no loud music.

Most stunning environment, beautiful beaches, friendliest staff, super quality food and brilliant snorkeling. The jungle like interior is just fantastic and the Maldivian style bungalows were spacious, well equipped bathroom, quality towels, toiletries and plenty of mirrors in the room. So clean everywhere, the beaches, paths, rooms. We just loved everything but the rooms were particularly authentic yet really comfortable.

What can I say this visit was just like going home again with a bit extra,we arrived at the airport and got a private transfer to the seaplane terminal, that was the start. When we arrived at Coco we were greeted by the team then escorted to our room No4.We had been upgraded to this amazing room plunge pool, extra seating outside the room itself was lovely extra seating bottle of fizz New bathroom area plus we were also given a free massage. It is an amazing place nothing is too much trouble for them, food is excellent the all inclusive is certainly good and if you want a 2nd glass of wine with your dinner or a 3rd or 4th you just have to ask. All in all it was another amazing holiday we hope to return in 2 years and we are already counting down till then

An amazing location, it's hard to find any fault with coco palm. What a paradise and a very special holiday. Not often one gets to swim with manta rays, turtles and dolphins! Special shout outs to Saeed in the main restaurant, and Rosie the resident marine biologist for making the stay extra special! -The island is beautiful, from the sandy beaches to the lush vegetation and the clear seas -It doesn't feel too busy even when the island is full -The villa was excellent, good size and provisions -The food in the main buffet restaurant was great, lots of variation and fantastic dishes -You can also get food / drinks in the bars and alternative thai restaurant which was really good -Staff were always friendly and very helpful -Bonus for all the conservation and biology work they do

The best holiday I have ever been on. I cannot stress how amazing this resort is from the food, the service, the staff and the experiences. There was something for everyone on the island whether you are travelling with family or as a couple. We went as a family of 3 and never got bored! The had also decorated for my birthday, which was a lovely touch. We went diving with Christinna, who was amazing and explained everything really well. We had excellent service from Hasanka in the restaurant every morning, noon and night! The front desk staff were very efficient and alway happy to help. We had a massage at the spa - highly recommend! There was entertainment every night that we really enjoyed. The turtle hospice is lovely to visit. The whole island is walkable in around 20 minutes. We stayed in Beach Villa 30 (we found was ideal as we could still see the sunset, had a reef right in front of us and was not a long walk to the main restaurants etc. If you get the chance please do visit! I cannot wait to come back!!

Back home after a week of total relaxation and we can't wait to return next year. From the moment we were greeted on the jetty until we were waved off you feel part of the Coco Palm Family. The staff at this resort are all first class especially those who work behind the scenes. Beautiful tropical gardens, with fantastic wildlife, hermit crabs, fruit bats just to name a few...that doesn't include the majestic sea turtles, black tip sharkes along with all the other beautiful fish you see right on your doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food, something for everyone every day. We had the BBQ which was fantastic especially as it was my husband's birthday, we also enjoyed the Thai restaurant. Big mention to the spa team, had 3 treatments during our visit all great value and huge choice to choose from. My husband used the dive centre and he can't rate them highly enough. Antonio has a great team, super equipment and great dive sites. Love this small but beautiful island..our first of many visits. See you next year!
